Chapter 2

I heard Rory speak, her voice light as a whisper:

“But Andrew… what if Ashley finds out? Aren’t you worried about what she’ll do?”

Andrew laughed—icy, mocking.

“Ashley? Please. Without me, what can a blind woman do? Without someone to lead her, can she even walk on her own?”

Rory let out a sweet, coquettish laugh.

And the two of them tangled together again, lost in each other, not even hearing the gift box slip from my fingers and hit the floor.

The night Ethan was rushed into surgery, Rory still held my hand.

She stayed with me the entire night. When I forgot to eat, she brought me food. With tears in her eyes, she told me:

“Ethan is the light of my life. The first time he called me Godmother… it was the first time in my life I didn’t feel like a worthless Omega.”

After the funeral, she comforted me: “Ethan lives in my heart.”

She wasn’t lying.

Something warm slid down my face, and only then did I realize I was crying.

The pain squeezed up from deep inside my chest, little by little, like something was going to crack my bones from within.

I bent down, picked up the gift box, and left without a sound.

So, it turns out—even a blind woman can walk alone.

The moment I got back to the bedroom, my legs gave out completely and I collapsed onto the bed.

My wolf wailed in my chest, unable to stop.

The instant my fingers touched the gift box again, my nerve snapped. I hurled it forward and screamed until my throat turned raw.

My stomach churned like a storm. I covered my mouth as I sobbed.

My hands found the scattered papers on the floor. I ripped them apart, shaking so hard I wanted to tear myself apart too.

It was all my fault.

If I could see… if I hadn’t blindly trusted the mate bond between Andrew and me…

But—

He said a blind woman like me couldn’t even walk without him.

He was dead wrong.

With trembling hands, I dialed a number I’d sworn I would never call again—my former fiancé.

Alpha Henry—

He owned the largest territory, commanded the strongest warriors. The moment he shifted into his wolf form, the entire forest would submit, trembling.

I once had an engagement with him.

But back then, I threw myself at Andrew with everything I had.

I destroyed that future with my own hands.

I still remember him blocking my path, telling me:

“Andrew isn’t sincere.”

But I was too naive.

Andrew treated me well—at least, he pretended to.

For him, I spat out cruel words: “At least he’ll be better than you.”

Now, everything that happened was proving Henry right.

“I lost,” I forced my voice to stay steady. “You…”

Before I could finish, Henry cut in, cold:

“I thought you were hopelessly in love with Andrew. Didn’t you say you’d love him for the rest of your life?”

I fell silent.

Making this call had already cost all my pride and courage.

But except him… I couldn’t think of anyone who could help me.

Then, suddenly, he panicked.

“Don’t hang up!”

His voice went hoarse, carrying something almost… wronged.

“Ashley… what happened?”

“He killed my son,” I let out a bitter laugh. “And I want him to pay.”

Silence for one second.

Then Henry spoke, pressing down pain so hard it turned into something deep and dark:

“Then come to me, Ashley. I’ll make Andrew understand what it means to hurt you. I’ve been waiting for you.”

I remembered the day I left Silver Claw Pack.

Henry had warned me: Andrew was trash.

And I told him to shut up.

The day I chose Andrew, I crushed Henry’s heart into dust.

“I’ll dissolve the mate bond with him,” I said softly. “Even if it costs me something… the Moon Goddess will understand.”

After I hung up, I lifted my head, wanting to take one last look at this house—

But all I faced was emptiness.

Andrew stole my son’s heart to save his mistress.

I’ll tear his world apart piece by piece.

This isn’t a threat.

It’s a mother’s oath.
