Chapter 6 Luna Hits Emma
“Luna!” Noah snapped, brows furrowed with anger. “Don’t go too far. Emma already apologized to you. What else do you want?”
Luna shot him a dismissive glance, unwilling to waste breath on a fool.
Just as she turned to leave, Emma grabbed her hand. Her eyes were red, her voice choked.
“Miss Carter, I’m sorry. I know an apology isn’t enough for you to forgive me. But I… I truly couldn’t control myself. Love can be uncontrollable, can’t it?”
“No. I don’t understand,” Luna said flatly.
Emma froze, stunned by the blunt answer.
“Miss Carter, please… scold me or even hit me if you need to. I’ll accept anything,” Emma insisted, gripping Luna’s hand even tighter.
She continued choking on her apologies until tears poured down her face.
Luna was utterly speechless.
“Let go,” Luna warned, voice cold.
But Emma clung even harder.
Luna’s gaze sharpened dangerously.
Noah rushed over.
“Luna!” Noah barked. “Emma apologized sincerely! Why won’t you accept it?”
Luna ignored him.
“Let. Go.” Her face darkened as she snapped the words.
“No, Miss Carter, yell at me. Hit me if you need to. Only then will I feel better,” Emma begged, tugging at Luna’s hand, tears streaming.
Without hesitation, Luna’s free hand lashed out — Smack!
A loud, sharp crack echoed through the living room.
Emma released her instantly, clutching her burning cheek as fresh tears welled in her eyes.
She stared at Luna in shock — unable to believe Luna had actually done it.
Luna frowned and rubbed her reddened wrist — Emma had squeezed hard.
Her gaze turned icy as she stared back at Emma.
Noah finally snapped out of his shock.
“Luna, how dare you hit Emma!” he roared.
Luna’s brows drew together; her tone was ice.
“Are you blind? She begged me to hit her. I was doing her a favour.”
“You—!” Noah shook with rage, lifting his hand as if to strike her.
Luna sensed it instantly and stepped back.
“Noah! Don’t you dare!”
A furious roar exploded through the living room.
Noah’s hand froze midair.
Luna turned — Theodore was storming out of the elevator, radiating pure pressure.
In a few swift strides, he reached her side.
“Did he hit you?” Theodore asked, voice low with concern.
Luna shook her head. “No.”
Seeing Theodore, Emma stiffened, terror striking her like lightning.
“What exactly were you trying to do?” Theodore demanded, gaze freezing Noah in place.
Noah lowered his hand, stammering.
“S-she hit Emma.”
“She hit you?” Theodore asked Emma, turning sharply.
Emma’s eyes filled instantly. “It’s my fault… Miss Carter had every right,” she whispered.
Theodore snorted. “If you know it’s your fault, why are you crying?”
Emma stared at him in disbelief.
Luna glanced at Theodore — the man stood firmly in front of her, towering and immovable.
“Uncle!” Noah growled. “Why are you defending Luna? She was wrong to hit Emma!”
“And? Is Emma your girlfriend?” Theodore asked, voice turning cold.
“Yes,” Noah said stiffly.
“She admitted she was wrong. Your aunt disciplined her. That’s what elders do,” Theodore said flatly.
It completely shut Noah down.
“But you—Noah Davis—you dared raise a hand against your aunt? Who taught you such manners?” Theodore sneered, voice slicing clean through the room.
As he delivered the final words, he roared, the sound exploding like thunder.
All three of them flinched.
It was the first time Noah had ever seen Theodore like this.
Emma stopped crying instantly, breath caught in her throat.
She didn’t even dare sniffle.
Luna’s heart was pounding wildly.
This was the first time someone had stepped in front of her to shield her.
Noah opened his mouth, but when he saw Theodore’s terrifying glare, he swallowed his words.
Emma stood beside him, silently cursing him. Coward.
Just then, a commanding voice echoed from upstairs:
“What’s all this noise?”
Luna and Theodore looked up to see John and Mary descending slowly.
Noah and Emma both exhaled in relief.
For a moment, the room fell into tense silence.
Mary supported John as they reached the living room and sat.
“What is going on here?” John asked, his gaze sweeping over them.
None of the four spoke.
Finally, Noah blurted,
“Grandpa, Luna hit Emma.”
John turned toward Emma — the faint red handprint stood out clearly on her cheek.
He turned to Luna.
“Explain,” he demanded.
Luna stepped out from behind Theodore.
In a flat tone she said, “She told me to hit her.”
Emma and Noah were both stunned speechless.
“The moment I got back, she grabbed me, apologized nonstop, cried, and begged me to hit her. So I granted her wish and slapped her.”
John turned to Emma.
“Is that true?”
Emma desperately didn’t want to answer — but under John’s stare, she had no choice.
“Yes,” she whispered, nodding with humiliation burning her cheeks.
“What is wrong with you two?” John growled, looking between Noah and Theodore.
Noah opened his mouth — then shut it again.
“I came down and saw Noah raise his hand to hit his aunt. I stopped him,” Theodore said coldly.
John’s gaze snapped to Noah, suddenly sharp with disgust.
“You intended to hit your aunt?” John asked, voice ice-cold.
Terrified, Noah bowed his head and stayed silent.
“Look up. Answer me.”
Noah slowly lifted his head.
“She hit my girlfriend. How could I stand by and watch?”
At those words, John grabbed the cup beside him and hurled it at Noah.
Noah froze, too stunned to dodge.
The cup smashed into his head, then shattered on the floor.
“Ah!” Emma screamed, terrified.
“Noah!”
Ava and the others burst out of the elevator, rushing toward him. Fury, fear, and panic swirled around her expression.
Ava shot John a venomous glare — then turned it immediately on Mary, convinced she had encouraged John.
“Noah, are you all right? Did you get hurt?” Ava demanded, frantic.
Emma hurried over too.
“Noah… does it hurt? Are you all right?” she asked softly.
“Stay away! Stop pretending to care about him!” Ava snapped, shoving Emma aside.
Emma stumbled, falling to the floor.
Her palm landed on a shard — pain shot through her hand.
She lifted it and saw blood flowing.
Seeing this, Noah snapped out of his shock. He rushed to her, helping her up.
“Emma, are you okay? Does it still hurt?” Noah asked worriedly.
Emma’s eyes reddened.
“I’m fine… don’t worry,” she said weakly.
