Chapter 7: "Are You Pregnant?"

Emma's POV

My denial caused the reporters to shift their attention back to Klaus and Nancy.

In the chaos, no one noticed me pushing through the crowd and hurriedly leaving the hospital.

I went straight back to Daisy's apartment.

The moment I closed the door, my whole body collapsed, and I gasped for breath.

The phone in my pocket started vibrating crazily.

It was Sally.

I didn't answer the call, but Sally's text messages immediately popped up.

"Damn it! Emma, where did you run off to?!"

"You must explain! Why did you say in front of all those reporters that you're not Klaus's wife?"

"You idiot!"

I had no idea how to explain this to her.

Sally had witnessed the scene at the hospital today. She must have already guessed that there was a marriage crisis between Klaus and me.

I pressed the power button and shut off my phone, avoiding any confrontation with her.

That evening, Daisy dragged her exhausted body back to the apartment.

"I'm so angry! The hospital was like a marketplace today, blocked up by that mob of reporters. It seriously interfered with our normal work!"

"That Nancy woman, she's such a jinx!"

I poured her a glass of water and sat beside her, sighing.

"Actually, you can't blame it all on her. Klaus is the alpha of the Golden Moon Pack after all. When he takes a woman to the hospital, reporters are naturally going to be interested."

"Emma! Why are you still defending them?"

Daisy looked at me complainingly, her brow furrowed tight.

"You're too naive. Think about it carefully. You and Klaus have been married for a year, and how many reporters know you're his legal wife?"

"Klaus is so powerful. If he wanted to cover up his relationship with Nancy, he would definitely do a good job keeping it secret."

I paused, not understanding what she meant.

Daisy said with certainty, "Those reporters were deliberately arranged by Nancy. She wanted to expose her relationship with Klaus and make others think they're a couple, but she didn't expect you to also be at the hospital."

Daisy's analysis gradually cleared up my confused mind.

Sure enough, I was still too stupid.

I leaned back on the couch and forced out a strained smile.

"Forget it, Daisy. What does it matter to me anyway? After all, Klaus and I are getting divorced."

The next day, I was still sleeping groggily when Daisy woke me up.

"Emma, wake up quickly! Look outside the window. Isn't that Klaus's car? I'm not seeing things, am I?!"

My heart dropped, and I immediately climbed up and rushed to the window.

Downstairs, that all-too-familiar black Bentley was parked quietly in front of the apartment building.

Daisy was so nervous she could barely speak clearly.

"How... how did he find this place? Oh my God, Will he rush up?"

I quickly returned to the bed and turned on my phone that had been off all night.

In an instant, countless missed call and text message notifications flooded in crazily.

There were calls from Sally, and from Klaus too.

Just then, the phone's ringtone rang out shrilly, with the name "Klaus" flashing brightly on the screen.

"Emma! Why did it take you so long to answer?!"

"I..."

"Come down! Right now!" His commanding tone brooked no resistance from me.

I put on my clothes and hurried downstairs.

The moment I pulled open the car door, I didn't even dare to look at Klaus.

He sneered, his eyes full of contempt.

"I really underestimated you before. I never thought you'd be such a scheming bitch."

I froze, turning to look at him blankly. "What are you talking about?"

"Still playing dumb?" Klaus narrowed his eyes.

"Those reporters at the hospital yesterday, weren't they deliberately arranged by you? "

"You knew full well that Nancy wasn't feeling well and I'd be taking her to the hospital, yet you deliberately appeared in front of the reporters, making them think Nancy and I were having an affair."

My head was buzzing.

So in his mind, I was such a malicious and calculating woman.

I wanted to deny it, but suddenly felt so tired.

What was the use of explaining to someone who doesn't trust you at all?

I deflated and said to him, "Fine. Think whatever you want."

I reached out to open the car door, but he grabbed my wrist!

"Want to leave? Emma, I'm not finished talking!"

His grip was terrifyingly strong, hurting my wrist.

He stared at me intently and threw out his second accusation.

"Did you deliberately tell Grace about what happened at the hospital?"

Grace was Klaus's grandmother, a very kind and gentle Luna.

After Grandfather Campbell passed away, she was the only person in this family who genuinely treated me well.

I frowned and looked at him in disbelief.

"Of course not! Klaus, how can you accuse me like this?"

"How could I possibly take something like this to bother Grace and make her sad for us?"

The suspicion in Klaus's eyes didn't disappear because of my explanation.

I understood now. It must have been Sally.

Every time Klaus and I had a conflict, she would immediately go complain to Grandmother, using the elder to pressure Klaus and force him to compromise.

It was precisely because of this that Klaus grew to dislike me more and more.

The atmosphere in the car dropped to freezing point.

After a long while, Klaus said coldly.

"I can trust you one more time, but this is the last time."

"Grace wants us to go to the manor for dinner together. Remember, Emma, watch your mouth. Don't say a single word you shouldn't, or you know the consequences."

I leaned back wearily against the seat, saying nothing.

The car drove all the way into Grace's manor.

As soon as we entered, I saw Grace sitting on the living room sofa waiting for us.

When she saw me, she immediately broke into a happy smile.

"Emma, my child, you're finally here. I've missed you so much."

She took my hand and had me sit beside her, looking at me with concern.

"You seem to have lost weight. Haven't you been eating properly lately?"

The servants had already prepared a table full of sumptuous dishes.

The moment I sat down, a greasy smell of steak drilled into my nose.

"Ugh..."

An intense wave of nausea suddenly surged up from my stomach.

My face instantly turned deathly pale, and I pressed my hand firmly over my mouth, barely managing not to vomit on the spot.

"Emma, what's wrong? Why do you look so terrible?"

Grace noticed my abnormal state and asked with concern.

I shook my head, my voice somewhat weak.

"It's nothing, I just feel a bit unwell."

Grace looked at me, first stunned for a moment.

Then, a look of joy and anticipation appeared in her eyes.

"Emma, are you pregnant?"
