Chapter 2 Fighting for My Daughter

The moment those words came out from Isabella's mouth, William and Nathan finally realized something was wrong.

Watching their expressions change so dramatically, Isabella felt her heart sink to rock bottom.

William's expression turned grim, while Nathan spoke up quietly.

"Dad and I were so focused on Laura's condition that we didn't notice Olivia."

Isabella's fury exploded beyond her control. "Fine, you didn't wake me when you left─but how could you not take care of Olivia either?"

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. Now, it wasn't the time to blame anyone—finding Olivia mattered more.

"When was the last time you saw Olivia? Where was she?"

Isabella's mind was already racing toward the worst possibility.

What if Olivia never got into the car at all?

Olivia wouldn't have been left at the camping site, would she? That place had wolves!

William must have had the same thought. His voice turned ice-cold. "I'll arrange a search party immediately."

Nathan was trying hard to remember as he instinctively glanced at Laura.

The truth was, Olivia probably never got in the car at all, but he didn't dare say it out loud.

Isabella was already on the verge of breaking down. From Nathan's expression, she could tell her worst fear had come true.

They'd actually forgotten Olivia at the campsite!

Without another thought, Isabella grabbed the car keys and rushed toward the door.

William blocked her path, his voice sharp. "Where do you think you're going?"

Her eyes were red with pain, disappointment, and panic.

"I'm going to find Olivia. William, you made such a basic mistake─leaving our daughter behind. You don't deserve to be her father."

Isabella spat out those words and pushed past him.

Then she remembered that Olivia's smartwatch had GPS tracking.

She pulled out her phone to check the location while pressing down on the accelerator.

But Isabella hadn't expected Olivia's current location to show up at a hotel.

She rushed over. Relief washed over her when she saw Olivia safely enjoying desserts in the lobby on the first floor."Olivia!"

Hearing her name, Olivia looked up and ran straight toward her. "Mommy!"

Isabella held Olivia tightly in her arms, her heart racing as she anxiously asked, "Olivia, are you hurt? What exactly happened last night?"Olivia replied softly, "When I woke up yesterday, you were gone...I tried to find you, but I couldn't. Then these kind people found me and brought me here. They said they'd help contact you."

Isabella instinctively checked her phone.

Sure enough, there were several missed calls. She must have put it on silent mode without realizing it.

Thank God─her worst fear hadn't come true.

Isabella held Olivia close while expressing endless gratitude to the kind couple who'd helped her daughter. She even insisted on transferring them a substantial reward despite their protests.

Without their intervention, she might never have seen Olivia again.

As she carried Olivia headed for the exit, William and Nathan caught up with them.

William looked at Olivia with concern. "Olivia, how are you? Are you hurt?"

Nathan quickly added, "Olivia, you're okay, right?"

Olivia shook her head.

Isabella pretended not to see them. She wouldn't fight with William in front of the children.

But this incident made her realize something else.

Before, she had thought William disliked her, but at least he would treat the children well.

Now she realized that when it came to Laura, William could even abandon his own daughter without hesitation.

In his eyes, no one was more important than Laura.

William visibly relaxed, but his voice was cold as he stared at Olivia.

"Why did you wander off? Don't you know we'd worry if something happened to you?"

The chill radiating from William was intimidating—he was clearly angry again.

Olivia shrank further into Isabella's arms. "I just wanted to find Mommy."

William's voice grew even icier. "Don't run off like that again."

Nathan eagerly jumped in. "Yeah! Because you ran away, Laura's been crying and blaming herself."

Tears immediately welled up in Olivia's eyes.

Isabella couldn't take it anymore. She held Olivia tighter and stared coldly at the father and son.

"Enough! Olivia is scared, and instead of comforting her, you all blamed her for what happened. She's just a child. Besides, if you hadn't been so focused on Laura yesterday, none of this would have happened."

If they hadn't been so desperate to rush to Laura's side, Isabella wouldn't have been abandoned.

And Olivia wouldn't have gotten out of the car looking for her.

What Isabella found most ridiculous was Nathan's attitude.

Olivia was his twin sister!

She took a deep breath, still fighting to control her rage. "What I said before still stands. Let's find a time to sign the divorce papers."

With that, Isabella strode away, carrying Olivia.

Still worried, Isabella took Olivia to the hospital for a complete examination. Only after confirming she was completely unharmed did she bring her home.

Olivia fell into a deep sleep almost immediately.

Isabella sat beside the bed, watching her daughter with a swirl of emotions emotions.

She could divorce William and walk away with nothing, but she absolutely had to win custody of Olivia.

Olivia was different from Nathan—she didn't revolve around Laura. Given how incredibly biased that father-son duo was, Isabella couldn't bear to imagine what kind of environment Olivia would grow up in.

Isabella pulled herself out of her thoughts and called her best friend, Daphne Johnson.

"I need you to find me the best divorce attorney money can buy. Price is no object—I just need to get divorced from William."

Daphne sounded like she was still half-asleep. After a brief pause, her voice shot up.

"Are you serious? You want a divorce?"

Isabella made her position crystal clear. "I'm more determined than I was on my wedding day."

She'd fallen head-over-heels for William at first sight, even giving up her promising career to become a housewife for three years.

But now she was wide awake, and she couldn't endure this any longer.

"I'm asking for your help with this. I only have one requirement—custody of Olivia."

Daphne agreed without hesitation. "I'll get you contact information later."

"Thanks."

After hanging up, Isabella let out a long breath.

She sat at her desk and opened her laptop, which displayed various data and experimental reports about flying cars.

But suddenly, a flicker of uncertainty crossed her eyes.

After all, she'd been Marcus's most promising student, yet she'd chosen marriage without looking back. She wondered if Marcus could ever forgive her.

Heavy footsteps echoed from the living room.

William was home.

Isabella emerged from her room and looked at him calmly, sliding the divorce papers she'd prepared across the table to him.

"Sign these."
