Chapter 7 Daddy’s little girl
Allie’s pov
Jasmine drove down into the woods, where there was some sort of shelter, or should I say cabin. We landed safely on the ground and he gave me that look, the look where you know this would be the last time you’d see each other without officially saying the words.
So, I guess this is goodbye, I manage to say with a wry smile.
Take care of yourself, Miss Allie, and by the way, I meant everything I said. If you are ever ready to trust, you know where to find me, he replied.
But I just stood there staring into his eyes with a lot of words swimming in my mind, but there wasn't any way to say them.
Take this, he said, throwing some sort of coin up in the air for me to catch, which I did. Just in case you are ready to trust and you manage to find your way to High-Garden, show the people you meet and say ‘woila-muharis’ they'd know where to take you, he said.
Woila-muharis? I muttered softly, but before I could utter another word, Jasmine flapped her wings, sending a huge wave of breeze directly to my face, disheveling my hair. Wait!! I screamed at the top of my lungs, but it was already too late. What does it mean?? I asked, letting out a light sigh of frustration.
I stared up at the sky as I watched him fly away before I let the sad realization of reality hit me.
I was alone - again, I muttered under my breath.
I looked around, realizing I knew exactly where I was. And fortunately, it wasn't too far from home.
I used to always come here when I was little whenever mom and dad, including Aria, were becoming unbearable for me, and right under this cabin is where I would stay and hide until I felt better.
But right now, it's kind of the only place I know nobody knew of, and where no one was going to find me, I thought.
I walked into the cabin, and it was just like I remembered, with that old, dusty, and quite worn-out bed sitting on the edge of the wall.
I walked up to it, sat, and curled my knees up to my chest as I stared out the tiny window at nothing in particular.
For how long are you going to do this, Allie? I asked myself. Usually, it's Lucifer who does all the asking and talking like he was reading my mind, but since the mountain talk, he hadn't shown himself to me again - how convenient, I thought.
He thinks he can just barge in and barge out of my mind and cause troubles for me and leave me with so many unanswered questions; I don't know why I even stress about it, it's not even like I'm surprised he could do this. Disappearing on me when I needed him the most.
I sat there for several hours crying my eyes out, wondering what my next step would be, then I remembered - ‘father,’ I muttered softly.
Of course, I screamed to myself. He was the only one there who could actually see me, who could see that I wasn't the one in control of my body back there. Maybe he can help me, maybe by talking to the king to please let me off the hook with just a punishment. I honestly would prefer that to being on the run for goddess knows how long.
He's still my father, right? There is no way he's going to let anything happen to me, right? I mean before all these, including this dark thingy when I turned five, I'd always been ‘Daddy’s little girl’, I thought.
I stood up, chin high, pushed my messy hair backwards, and exhaled softly when my stomach suddenly rumbled loudly.
I held my stomach in pain; of course, I knew I should have eaten something at that party… I didn't even get the chance to, and now it's getting pretty obvious that I am hungry.
But not to worry, Allie, you're going home and you can eat whatever you want there, is that okay? I told myself.
I walked out of the cabin and clearly found my own path through the woods until I landed in the front bushes around my house.
I was about to come out when I saw one of the king's guards throwing mom’s box full of clothes out of the house.
Find her!!! One of them yelled as more boxes began flying in the air.
I gasped, taking a step back, covering my mouth as the sound of my voice may have gotten them to look in my direction, but I was quick to hide, or so I thought.
Listen, listen, I can explain. Dad’s voice echoed in my ears, making me raise my gaze a little to see what was going on.
I'm only following the King's orders Councilman James, your king's order, the guard in charge of the whole operation spat at him, there's nothing for us to discuss, he added with a firm voice.
Oh come on now, I know the king and surely we could come to some arrangements, but as he said his last word, the sound was accompanied by a loud thud from one of the boxes.
Not my makeup kits!!! Aria yelled from upstairs.
Shit! Dad cursed. You have to listen to me, I'm not even sure I'm the father of that monster you saw out there; please, you have to stop doing this!! Dad said, rage and anger were in his voice.
I froze on the spot the minute I heard those words. I mean, not particularly because of what he said, but how he said it. Of course, he certainly isn't the father of Lucifer because technically he is the monster he's talking about, but his delivery - it sounded so much like he was talking about me and not him, like I was actually the monster.
All I've ever done for that girl since the day she was born was to shield her from herself, he continued. You've got to believe me when I say I have no clue where she'd run off to!! he added sternly.
But it was like the more he talked, the more adamant the king's guards were as they kept on ransacking the house, throwing box after box to the point it began raining.
But not the actual rain; this time it was raining clothes.
Gosh, I hate that child!! He cursed under his breath, pushing his hair back in anger but loud enough for me to hear. All she's ever done is cause me trouble that sometimes I wish she could just disappear out of our lives, he added.
I hate you, ALLIE!!!! Aria’s voice came from upstairs in a loud scream, throwing off the trophy we'd won when we were three for the best dressed twin sisters at the yearly elf festival right outside the window, breaking the glass.
Ohhhh James, I might end up killing her myself if I ever get to see her again with all these things she's caused. Why is she so stubborn?! Mom’s voice followed, and that was the last straw.
The shield I've been holding up broke right that instant as tears flowed down my cheeks, my legs weakened as I fell to the ground, their words playing on repeat in my head like a terrible lullaby that just wouldn't stop.
Am I that bad? I asked myself, trying to think about what exactly I'd done wrong to deserve such hatred, but before I could even get to a conclusion, I heard a hoarse voice say,
It's you!!! You're coming with me, the guard who my dad was speaking with earlier said with a garrulous face and his weapon in his hand. I guess my fall to the ground created a sound it shouldn't have.
I stood up, locked eyes with my father, who stared at me in realization, and for a minute there, I thought I saw a flicker of regret, but it immediately vanished when I noticed it, and with that, the very last tear rolled down my cheeks before I took my heels back into the woods with lots of palace guards behind me as I could hear them still requesting backup, saying they'd found the BEAST.
