Chapter 2 Unseen Circumstances.

Bella’s pov.

“Just five more minutes,” I grumbled, turning to the other side, my face scrunched up in annoyance as Megan jumped on my bed beside me.

“No, mommy! It’s time to get up!” Megan started to giggle, jumping on my bed, not understanding how much of a pain she’s being.

“Okay! Okay, enough. Get down! I’m getting up,” I groaned, sitting up in bed, giving her a small smile at the sad look she gave me.

“Go change and brush your teeth, I’m gonna get ready too,” I said to her with a smile, placing a kiss on her cheek, feeling bad that I upset her.

Megan scurried off to her room to get ready while I tried to figure out what needs to be done first today.

‘John?’ I said down my link with the beta, needing to let him know about Garret, knowing he won’t be happy.

‘Yes, Luna?’ He responded instantly, making me smile slightly.

His loyalty to me was always stronger than his loyalty to Garret.

‘Meet me in my office please,’ I said before I shut down the link between us, a twisting feeling inside my guts.

Going to my bathroom I splashed cold water onto my face and looked into the mirror, the person staring back at me is unrecognizable.

My blue eyes stared back at me, dull and lifeless.

My hair tangled and knotted.

I sighed before throwing my hair up into a messy bun, not having the energy for today.

“Mommy! I’m ready!” I heard Megan declare before I could even leave the bathroom.

I walked out of the bathroom and saw her standing there in pink pants with a bright yellow shirt, making me cringe.

“Is that really what you want to wear today?” I asked, hoping she’ll change her mind, a smile on my face even though I don’t think it matches very well.

“Yup!” She said proudly, hands on her hips like it’s the best outfit ever.

I sighed but decided it’s not worth a fight today, "Okay, Martha will be taking care of you today,” I said before mindlinking the omega.

‘Hey, Martha. We’re ready for you, please come to the alpha floor,” I said and shut the link down without waiting for a response, knowing she’ll be here soon.

Going to my closet I grab a black jumpsuit and pair it with a brown jacket.

A simpler outfit for today.

Megan, being the helpful child she is, grabs my black sneakers and brings them over to me, “here, mommy!” She said, a huge smile on her face.

“Thanks, sweetheart,” I mumbled, quickly grabbing them and slipping them on, in a hurry to tell John what’s happening now.

A twisting feeling inside of my guts at the thought of speaking of Garret and what he has done.

As I walked her to the living room Martha was already waiting, a smile on her face.

“Thank you for watching her, I’ll be back in five hours or so,” I said, giving Megan a quick hug and kiss, mumbling a few words to her before I ran out the door.

Quickly walking through the pack house, a million things on my mind, I made it to my office in record time.

Stepping inside I am enveloped in John's scent.

Little butterflies erupt in my belly but I push it aside and swallow the lump in my throat, “John, you’re already here.”

John smirked at me, “you told me to come so I did.”

“Yes, well I didn’t think you’d arrive before me. Anyways, we have a lot to discuss,” I said softly, taking a seat behind my desk, shuffling uncomfortably “Garett left.”

I cut straight to the chase, spilling the one thing I didn’t want to admit to anyone.

My body twitching from the emotions I tried so hard to suppress.

John's eyes widened and his body tensed up, “he left?”

“He left,” I repeated, looking right into his eyes.

John stands up quickly, "you're telling me the bastard up and left? Leaving you and Megan?” He said angrily.

I take a deep inhale of breath, trying to calm myself down.

“John, it’s okay. He left but maybe- maybe it’s for the best? He never could love me, not while he loved her still,” I whispered trying to convince myself.

John sits back down and looks at me with a gentle smile, “you were always better than him, Bella. You can do great things, I’ll be here to help anyway I can,” he said, almost a desperate look in his eyes.

“Thank you,” I replied with a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes, curious about his reaction, “I still don’t know what I’m supposed to tell Megan. I don’t think I can tell her that her own dad left her.”

“Shhh,” John said as I hiccuped on my sobs.

he got up from his seat and came over to me, pulling me into a reassuring hug, “it’s okay to be upset. You dedicated your whole life to Garett. But you’ll be okay, you’re strong. You don’t need him,” he whispered into my ear, making a shiver run through my body.

I quickly pulled away from John, not liking these new feelings towards him.

“Thank you- that’ll be all,” I dismissed him, “if I need anything else I’ll reach out to you.”

John chuckled with a knowing look on his face, making me blush slightly, “okay, you know where to find me,” he said before leaving my office, closing the door gently behind him.

‘What has gotten into you?’ I whispered harshly at myself.

"We are free, free to feel," my wolf said, more mysterious words.

Ignoring her I started to go through paperwork, there’s so much that needs done I don’t know how I will catch up on everything by myself.

‘Before I forget, I did a bunch of paperwork that needed to be done in Garett’s office. Since he’s been so unfocused, and now that I know he left I’m glad I did it. There’s four contracts on top of his desk that you’ll need to sign, Luna,’ John whispered into my mind, making me jump.

‘Thank- thank you,’ I stuttered out, unsure of what to say as he basically read my mind.

After doing some of the load I have I decide to call it quits. I still need to summon the elders and let them know the alpha has left our pack, leaving us alpha less. For now.

They won’t be happy, they might even try to sign a contract marriage, but I won’t. I know deep down Tundra and I can lead this pack just fine on our own.

My wolf is rare. A very powerful beast. I only know of two other white wolves in the world, my mother and another woman from hundreds of years ago.

They were hunted until the day they were killed. Making me hide my wolf. That might be a problem with the elders as they will insist on a strong leader to rule my pack.

I clenched my fists as I left my office, determined to make them see I am the leader my pack deserves.
