Chapter 4 Wow.

Bella’s pov.

“What did you see?” I asked curiously, crossing my arms over my chest as I stared at her.

“Garett and Rose! They are here… they- they are trying to claim the pack, he wants to make her his Luna,” she said with wide eyes, waiting for my reaction.

“He… wants to replace me as Luna?” I whispered calmly, not letting the turmoil I feel show.

“That’s not all,” Brooke said quietly, looking anywhere but at me, “they have a young boy with them, and she’s claiming it’s Garett’s. He can’t be any older than six.”

It's like my whole world crashed around me at that one word. Six. We’ve been together for seven. He cheated on me? How many times has he been with her? All of these questions I kept asking myself but they all went unanswered.

“I don’t know what to say, Brooke. He already left and cheated on his mate. It doesn’t matter who he is, he broke the laws. No elder will allow him to be alpha,” I said through a clenched jaw, trying to control my anger.

Tundra growls lowly in my head, not liking what we’ve been told.

“As long as you aren’t affected by this I won’t say any more, I thought this would hurt you. He- he cheated on you and had another child. Do you think everytime he’s been away on ‘business’ trips he’s just been spending time with his other family?” She sighed, placing a hand on my shoulder as she kept rambling on, “he never treated you right, Bell. Never, not once did he ever do something for you, or even Megan. I’m glad to see that you are okay and becoming more yourself. You’re practically glowing without him constantly on your mind.”

I rolled my eyes and chuckled, “don’t even get me started. I feel free, as if I’m not slowly draining away, constantly looking for approval. I should’ve let him go a long time ago- I just didn’t see it till now.”

“Not everyone realizes it until it’s too late. You’re still young, we have time to make up for lost years,” she said softly, making me scoff.

“I don’t want to make up for lost time, Brooke. I just wanted my mate to love me the way I loved him,” I replied sadly, walking down the hall towards my office, thinking about Garret and what he’s done to me.

“We both know that’s not going to happen…” Brooke said cautiously, following me to my office.

I opened the door and walked inside before replying, “I know… I know now. He’ll never love me the way I need him to… and he’ll never be able to,” I whispered sadly, looking out my window at the pack, wondering how this will affect them.

“They’ll stand behind you,” she said suddenly, coming up behind me, “they love you, we know that. They’ve always respected you more, you’re basically the alpha already.”

“I know that, but it won’t make it any less hard on them that he left. He abandoned his pack… and he thinks he can bring his mistress and illegitimate son here and replace me?” I said angrily, feeling Tundra's rage mixed with mine.

How could he do this to me? To our bond?

Brooke sighed, “I still don’t understand all of the werewolf laws and rules,” she said while shrugging her shoulders, “I doubt your pack will allow him to bring his mistress in here.”

“We’ll see… Most of the members are scared of him. He is the alpha, or was the alpha. I don’t think it matters, no one will want to cross him, he’s too powerful,” I muttered, thinking about what I’m going to do when he comes back here.

“Whatever happens, I’ll be here for you. I know I’m just human… but you mean a lot to me. I’ll do whatever I can,” she declared while placing a hand gently on my shoulder and squeezing it slightly, just her presence alone making my soul feel lighter.

“Thank you. I just need time to think… time to make a plan. I don’t know what he’s thinking but if you saw them he will be here fast. Faster than we can deal with,” I said, turning to look at her.

“I didn’t just see them… I heard them. He promised her the title. And not only did he promise her the Luna position… he promised his son the heir position… he’s totally shoving you and Megan out,” she whispered harshly, wincing slightly at the anger etched onto my face.

“If he thinks for a second he gets to bring them here and toss us out he’s mistaken. Megan is the true heir… I won’t allow him to take that from her,” I said with resolve, clenching my fists at the thought of her future being ripped away from her.

“I honestly can’t believe it either. You have been Luna for seven years, doing everything. He doesn’t even do the paperwork! You do! The only reason this pack is still functioning is because of you. Without the business deals you’ve secured this pack would’ve been doomed long ago,” she said while laughing, making me feel even angrier at the situation.

I turned towards her fast, rage coursing through my veins, “You’re right. I’ve done everything; more reasons why I’ll never let him replace me. I am Luna. I am the leader. His mistress will have a rude awakening when she gets here… and if it comes down to it, I’ll challenge her,” I said while looking Brooke in the eyes with a murderous look on my face.

“Girl, you’d kill her!” She gasped dramatically, “does Garett even know you’re a white wolf?”

“No,” I responded, “he doesn’t know, nobody knows. I plan to tell elder Elian, he’ll help me become alpha. I can’t trust anyone else. It was risky telling you, I can’t have anyone else finding out.”

My mind drifted towards John, the thought of telling him crossing my mind.

“Okay, I hope he can be trusted. Girl, I gotta go. It’s late as fuck, I need to get back home. You’ll be okay?” Brooke said, looking like she really needs to go.

“Yeah,” I said while waving her off, “I’m fine. Go, get home. I’ll call you when Garrett shows up. I’ll need you then.”

Saying goodbye, Brooke leaves the pack, leaving me alone again.

I sighed to myself not sure if I’m ready to face Garrett and his mistress… and the son he created with her, while we were mated.
