Chapter 6 Closeness
Lily
A soft sigh left my lips as soon as I woke up. The pain on my body has subsided somehow as I didn't feel any pain when I moved.
The room was dimly lit but the moonlight which was coming through the French window was enough to light the whole space.
Getting up from the bed, I made my way towards the balcony and slid the glass door open. The soft wind welcomed me as soon as I stepped outside.
“ Moon goddess,” I whispered, looking towards the full moon.
“ Please help me,” I said looking up. I don't want to know who I am and from which pack I belong. A part of me feels safe here as if I don't want to go back.
“ Please guide me,” I said, losing myself in my thoughts. I had become so invested in my own thoughts that I didn't notice a strong, powerful and familiar presence behind me.
“ It looks like the moon is smiling down at you,” a deep, velvety voice startled me, making me clutch my chest as I turned around so fast that I almost tripped.
“ Careful, little flower,” he said, snaking his strong pair of arms around my waist.
“ You…. Scared me,” I said, looking up at his beautiful eyes.
“ Are you afraid of me?” He asked out of nowhere. My brows drew together before I answered.
“ No.”
“ I was thinking about something and you startled me. That's it,” I informed.
“ What were you thinking about?” He asked, his voice low and steady.
“ I…….I……. And suddenly I fumbled for words remembering in what kind of position we were standing.
“ Can you let go?” I asked, looking at my hands which were placed on his solid chest. My cheeks warmed. This is so wrong but at the same time it felt so good.
“ What if I say no?” He asked instead.
“ Huh?” I looked up processing his words.
Sure I don't want to be apart from you. I shook my head immediately to clear my thoughts.
“ Don't tire your legs, little flower. Come sit with me,” saying that he picked me up in his arms in bridal style before carrying me to the bench.
I gasped when he placed me on his lap as he sat down.
“ Alpha,” I said, breathlessly.
“ Caspian,” he said, burning me with his intense gaze.
“ Caspian,” I repeated after him, tasting the name on my tongue. His hold on me tightened instantly.
“ Yes, little flower,” he said, amusement dancing in his eyes.
“ What were you thinking earlier?” He asked.
“ I was wondering from which pack I am. And what happened there? Why was there no one with me?” I said. I would have felt sad that there was no one in sight when they saved me but I didn't. All I felt was hollow.
Caspian sighed, and put his forehead on my shoulder like it's the most natural thing to do. I let him stay like that.
“ I am searching for the truth, flower. I will find out why you ended up in that forest all alone,” he paused his whole body going rigid.
“ And when I find out the truth, I will tear everyone apart who made you suffer,” his warning was loud and clear.
“ You know this is wrong,” I said, diverting the topic.
“ And what is it?” He asked, moving an inch closer to my face. My cheeks burned as his hot breath fell on my skin.
“ The…… the way you are holding me. And…..
“ And?” He asked.
“ coming close to me. Your mate will kill me,” I said, with a beating heart like a drum.
“ I have no mate, little rabbit,” he said, voice husky with emotions.
“ I am not a rabbit,” I said with a huff, drawing a hearty laugh from him. It was genuine and the sound of it made my heart flutter.
“ What are you then?” he asked, smiling at me.
“ A wolf,” I replied.
“ You are my little flower, Lily,” he said, voice warm and gentle.
“ What are you doing here at this hour, Alpha?” I asked.
“ This is my room and I think maybe I have a little privilege to come here as well,” he replied. To say I am shocked will be an understatement. I jump off of his lap and manage to stand up a few feet away from, staring at him with wide eyes.
“ I am……
He was faster than my words as he came in front of me with a blink of an eye pressing his index finger on my lips.
“ It was my order to let you stay in my room,” he said.
“ Why? I am just a stranger who you saved in the forest and I am not even your mate,” I said the words that had been clawing in my chest to come out since he came here.
For a few minutes he didn't say anything and kept staring at me like he was in a battle with himself. As I wanted him to answer so many emotions flickered in his eyes. And finally when he opened his mouth, my heart shattered a little.
“ Get some rest. I will have the healers to check on you tomorrow then you can move out to a guest room.”
And with that he turned around on his heel and stormed out of the room.
I should have felt relieved at his words but I am disappointed, sad even.
With a sigh, I walked back inside the room, closing the door behind me before I made my way to the bed.
“ Tomorrow," I whispered to myself.
I need you Maya. I need to know you are still there. Maybe you remember something. But there was no response.
Caspian
“ Damien, ask the healers to come here tomorrow first this morning to check on her,” I told him as soon as I entered the library which is linked to my room.
“ Sure," he responded.
“ Is everything good?” He asked after a beat.
“ Yes,” I said, dropping the link.
I should not feel like this but I am pissed right now.
I stood there at the window staring at the beautiful moon. After I calmed myself down I decided to find out about the things that have been happening around the pack for the past three months.
It is not all coincidence that rogue attacks are happening on the pack's.
“ Liam,” I linked.
“ Alpha.”
“ I need you to find out how many packs have been under attack for the last three months and how many members have they lost,” I said.
“ Ok,” he said.
“ The blue heaven pack has called,” he said. I waited for him to continue.
“ What did they say?”
“ Their Alpha wants to meet you,” he replied.
“ Delay him for a week,” I said with a cruel smirk. There is something fishy going on in their pack.
“ Did you find out if there were any missing members in their pack?” I asked
“ No. But the spy had informed them something big had happened at their pack house. He is on it to find out,” he said.
With that I drop the link. I sighed, turning around as I sat down on my chair. Closing my eyes I leaned back resting my head on the top of the chair. I know I won't be able to sleep tonight. And I certainly don't want to end up in my room as well.
“ F*
ck,” I cursed loudly when the image of her blushing at me flashed before my eyes.
“ I need a run to clear my head,” I said and walked out of the room.
