Chapter 2

Hearing those words, Hannah’s heart dropped. The moon goddess had given her a Second Chance Mate.

"Hannah, please!" Liam said, reaching out to her. "I want you to be my mate. Please accept my proposal."

Hannah looked at him, her heart racing. She could feel the mate bond but everything was happening so fact she couldn't process it at once, she was scared that she might not be able to stand beside him and his park might not accept her. He was the alpha, and she was just a beta and a maid at that. They were from different worlds, and she knew that this relationship could never be accepted by the pack.

"I'm sorry, Liam," she said softly. "But I can't. It would never work." She turned and ran, and Liam tried to chase after her but was stop by Austin

"I thought you said you had a mate," Austin taunted Liam. "But it doesn't seem to me like she's going to accept you. You're going to keep remaining the way you are - a lowly, mate less Alpha."

Liam's jaw clenched, and his voice was low and hard. "You don't get to decide my fate," he said. "I will have Hannah, and nothing you do will stop me.

"You're fooling yourself," Austin said, a cruel smile playing on his lips. "You'll never have her, and your pack will keep decline and eventually fade out.

"You're wrong," Liam said, his voice steady and confident. "I will have Hannah, and I will be the Alpha of a pack. I know it in my heart, and I will make it a reality."

"You're deluding yourself," Austin scoffed. "You're nothing but a mate less Alpha, and you would keep growing weaker as time goes by. You'll never be anything more."

Liam's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm not the one who's weak," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You're the one who's afraid - afraid of the power I have, and afraid of what I could become."

"You can make all the threats you want," Austin said, unconcerned. "But I know you're all talk. You don't have the strength to follow through on any of it."

Liam's eyes narrowed, and he let out a low growl. "You're making a big mistake," he said. "You have no idea what I'm capable of."

"You're all talk," Austin said, his voice dismissive. "You'll never be a threat to me, or to my position as Alpha."

"We'll see about that," Liam said, his tone cold and hard.

Hannah who was at the verge of breaking down moved closer to a stream just as she was thinking of the next step to take, Sarah cornered Hannah by the stream, her eyes blazing with anger. "This is not your place," she said, her voice sharp and commanding. "Leave this park, or suffer the consequences."

Hannah stood her ground, her heart pounding in her chest. "I'm not going anywhere," she said, her voice trembling with fear, but also with defiance. "I have as much right to be here as you do."

"You fool," Sarah spat, her eyes blazing with fury. "You think that Alpha Liam wants you? You're just a pawn to him, someone he can use to further his own ambitions. He's bluffing, just to get you to do his bidding. You're never going to have power, you're just going to remain a lowly servant."

Hannah's face burned with shame, but she lifted her chin defiantly. "You're wrong," she said. "I'm not just a servant, I'm a person. I have rights, and I have a future."

"Don't delude yourself, You can dream all you want," Sarah said, her tone mocking. "But it's not going to change the reality of your situation. You're a servant, and that's all you'll ever be."

"No!" Hannah cried out, her voice filled with emotion. "I won't let you define me. I won't let anyone define me. I'm going to be more than just a servant. I'm going to be free."

"You're pathetic," Sarah sneered. "You're nothing but a delusional girl, wasting your time dreaming of something that will never happen."

Sarah's eyes narrowed, and she said "Just end it all," Sarah hissed, her face contorted with rage. "Do everyone a favor and kill yourself. You're useless, you're pathetic, you're nothing." She turned and stalked away, leaving Hannah alone by the stream, her heart aching with pain.

Hours later, Hannah gathered her courage and went to find Austin. She knocked gently on his door, her stomach in knots. When he opened the door, she said, "I need to talk to you."

"What is it?" he asked, Hannah took a deep breath and began to speak. "I'm leaving the pack," she said, her voice shaky but determined. "I'm going to be with Liam." her voice shaking with emotion. "I'm tired of being a servant, I want to be free. I'm going to go with Alpha Liam, and he's going to help me."

Austin laughed, the sound cold and cruel. "You're a fool," he said. "You think Alpha Liam is going to help you? He's just using you, like everyone else. He doesn't care about you, he only cares about himself. And even if you did leave, nobody would help you. You're alone in this world, and you're never going to be anything more

"You're wrong," Hannah said, her voice trembling. "I'm not alone. I have people who care about me, who believe in me. I'm not going to let you or anyone else tell me what I'm worth. I'm going to make my own destiny."

"You're delusional," Austin said, his tone dismissive. "You're never going to escape, and you'll never be anything but a servant. You're too weak, too scared to make your own destiny. You'll never be free."

"I'm not scared," Hannah said, her voice taking on a steely resolve.

"You're so determined to believe in fairy tales," Austin scoffed. "But this is the real world, and you're never going to be anything more than a lowly servant. You'll always be at someone's beck and call, always taking orders. You're not strong enough to change your own fate."

"You're wrong," Hannah said, a fierce determination burning in her eyes. "I'm not weak, and I'm not afraid. I know what I want, and I'm not going to let anyone stand in my way. I'm going to be free, and I'm going to make my own destiny."

Austin was taken aback by Hannah's fierce resolve, and for a moment he didn't know what to say. Then, before he could stop himself, he reached out and grabbed her, pulling her towards him. He leaned down and kissed her, his lips rough and demanding. Just as he did so, he heard a gasp from the doorway. He turned, and saw Sarah standing there, her face a mask of shock and anger.

"What are you doing?" she demanded, her voice shaking with fury.
