Chapter 1 One

Calista's POV

" The meeting will start in thirty minutes." My beta said as the car pulled over in front of the hall.

" Do you want us to wait for a few minutes before going in?" He asked but told him to let us walk in.

Thirty minutes were just around the corner.

We walked into the building, and into the large conference hall, where other alphas were seated and waiting.

The room turned heavily silent as soon as I stepped in with my beta behind me.

Everyone seemed to notice my presence and the look in their eyes wasn't something new to me.

I knew what they thought of me and my title as alpha.

I was a woman and in that large room filled with more than fifty alphas, I was the only woman among them.

I was the only female standing with them on the same pillar and none of them was comfortable with it.

The look of disgust in their eyes showed how much they thought of me but I didn't really care about what they thought of me.

I have been alpha for five years since my father passed and they think a mere stare from them could make me flinch.

I took my seat with my beta standing behind me.

" You need to wait outside. Beta Ray." One of the alphas said and Ray leaned down to my ear.

" Call me if you need me." I knew what he meant. I looked around the room. I didn't nod and just like he walked out, shutting the door behind him.

" Alpha Calista." One of the alpha's called and I turned my head to my side.

" I have heard a lot about you." He said with a smile but I didn't change my expression.

" You are more beautiful in person." He added, taking my hand which was on the table.

He placed a kiss on my knuckle. My eyes turned colder but I didn't pull my hand back or make a sound.

The guts of this male!

" I never knew the alpha of the crystal pack was such a beauty." Another alpha said and everyone laughed with him.

" How about this, be my fifth mate and I will make sure you don't lack anything."

My eyes lifted and I met his disgusting eyes.

The old alpha of the Diamond pack said with a mocking smile.

There was nothing I wanted more than to wipe that smile off his face with a punch.

My hand was stiff, but I had to stay down.

The reason I came here was to attend the annual alphas meetings which i haven't attention since I took over from my father.

I couldn't lose my temper here. Maybe I should pay this old Giza a visit in his pack later.

I tried to calm my temper but their insult continued.

" I don't have a mate yet but you can keep me company until I find my fated mate. And in return i will give you whatever you want, any amount. Name it."

My eyes narrowed at his words.

" I will treat you well and even if I find my mate I will still keep you." He added and my gaze shot up.

The audacity of this male!

" If the moon goddess ever makes the mistake of pairing me with a man like you I wouldn't hesitate to reject him," I spoke in a firm tone and the hall went silent.

Their gaze sat on me as if they wanted to lounge at me.

I dare anyone to try anything. I wouldn't hold back, I promise.

" What kind of insolent behavior is that? " One alpha screamed, getting up on his feet.

For the past five years, I have received their insults without letting them get to me.

I have turned a blind eye to their offensive words, not because I was scared of them.

My Wolf was begging me to let her out but I was trying to hold her down.

She could have her revenge later but for now, we are here to attend the meeting and leave without shedding blood.

" Apologise to alpha Lucas now!" The old Giza of the Diamond pack demanded and everyone nodded, backing him.

" Is that how you speak to an alpha?" He asked.

" Maybe you should ask yourself that," I said and the room went dead silent.

" I'm equally an alpha but how have you spoken to me since I got here?" I asked coldly and the old Giza of the Diamond pack frown deepened.

" You are a woman and women don't dine with men. Know your place you little whore!" The alpha of the Crescent pack yelled forcing me to stand up on my feet.

" I dare you to say that one more time." My voice cold, menacing and challenging.

I became the alpha of the crystal pack when I was barely twenty-two years old because I was the only child of my father.

And someone needed to protect and defend the pack after his death.

For five years I have been doing exactly that while trying to control my temper with these foxes who see wrong in everything I do just because I was a woman.

" Say that again I swear to the moon goddess I will make sure you never call yourself a man for the rest of your life," I promised and he stepped back in terror while holding the front of his pants.

" You are more disrespectful than I ever thought." The alpha of the Diamond pack hissed, looking at me with those angry eyes that would soon be buried.

" And you think you are better than me?" I questioned and they stared at themselves.

" You think you can stand my wrath?" He pointed a finger and suddenly the door burst open.

Everyone turned their gaze from me. The strange smell of after-rain slide into my nostrils, and my wolf suddenly whispered the one word I wasn't expecting to hear st least not in this lifetime.

' MATE '

I froze for a few seconds before turning my head to see who it was.

My eyes met with a marine blue eye.

" Alpha Zane." Someone said and my stomach twisted weirdly.

Alpha Zane of the blue moon pack?
