Chapter 14 Fourteen
Zane’s POV
I stared at her without flinching. She was fucking asking me to leave her pack.
No one had ever dared to growl at me or lay a hand on me.
If it was someone else, their hand would definitely be detached from their body.
Sternly knew better than to interfere. I licked the corner of my lips. Amusement flashed in my eyes as I looked at her bold, angelic face.
She was fucking beautiful and damn stubborn.
She looked like something impossible to tame, but recalling how smooth her skin was and how much she screamed beneath me that day, something darker spread inside me.
The thought of fucking her again clouded my mind. Her body, her soul, her moans, and her anger — all fucking belonged to me.
She was mine since the day she laid beneath me, spread her legs for me, and screamed my name as I thrust inside her hard.
The front of my pants lifted as my dick twitched in its restraint.
No woman had made me lose my mind except her.
Calista Rukers.
"I came here as soon as I heard your pack was being attacked, and this is how you treat me?"
"By chasing me out of your pack?" I leaned down and grabbed her good arm. "Choosing your beta over your mate." I stated and her eyes widened for a few seconds, as if thinking.
"Do you know what that means?" I asked and she bit her lower lip.
"Well. It means he is meant to die by my hands." I declared and a frown settled in her eyes.
She yanked her hand away from my grip and stood up on her feet.
"You are insane." She said without blinking and for some reason I found myself smiling at her.
"You think so?" If it was anyone else who dared to insult me like this, I wouldn't think twice before slicing their throat.
"I'm afraid it's the truth." She met my eyes like she meant every word — which I knew she did.
Interesting.
She was bolder than I ever thought. Ernesto Rukers really raised an alpha instead of a mate.
"Whatever you say." I took one more step and the space between us was gone.
Her vanilla scent filled my nostrils. Losing my control, I leaned down to inhale her smell but the moment was cut short when the door burst open.
"Calista."
I frowned. It was her beta.
The asshole knew how to piss me off. He was only alive because his alpha was a stubborn female.
The urge to kill him started at the party. Mariam's birthday party.
The way he looked at her wasn't how a beta should look at his alpha.
"Get him out!" I growled and Sternly moved, pushing him out of the office and shutting the door.
"What are you doing?" Calista yelled with anger blazing in her eyes.
"If you touch him, I will fight you." My eyes turned cold.
My beast growled dangerously in my head.
Ready to fight her mate for another male. Hmm.
Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill him.
"If you don't want him to get hurt, then behave." I wrapped one hand around her waist and pulled her to myself.
"You can't—" I swallowed the rest of her words as I slammed my lips on hers.
The spark from the mate bond ignited and my body started burning.
Fucking stubborn Calista!
She struggled against me but that only made me hold her tighter. My lips didn't leave hers.
She suddenly stopped struggling and I let out a smile as I kissed her hard, biting on her lip to force her to open her mouth and she did.
My tongue slid into her mouth. I let it roam her mouth as my teeth caressed her lips without holding back.
I kissed her hungrily. Since the day I saw her at the party, I had been fantasizing about having her in my arms again.
Underneath me. Screaming my name.
"Fuck!"
The more I kissed her, the hungrier I became and the more I wanted her.
I finally pulled back. Her lips bleeding and her breath shaking.
"You are worse than I imagined," she said after catching her breath and a smile settled on my lips.
"You are not wrong." I lifted my jaw while tilting my head to the side. The smile still lingering on my lips.
Being called the most ruthless alpha wasn't just a title.
I was worse than the devil. That was what people believed.
"You better get rid of him if you don't want me to." I threatened and I meant every word of it.
I stepped back. My eyes falling on her injured arm.
"They are not rogues, so don't think of infection." I told her.
I went to the pack border before coming to her, and the scent wasn't that of rogues.
"Call me if something like this happens again." I took out my card and handed it to her.
Her eyes moved up from the card to my cold, serious face.
"Thank you, Alpha Zane, for your concern. My pack will be okay." Her cold, indifferent voice made me frown.
She fucking rejected me. This card had my private number and the only person who had it was Sternly, my beta, yet she fucking rejected it.
"You think rejecting me is a good idea?" I spoke in a cold tone and her gaze turned hard with displeasure.
"Crystal Pack is not your obligation." My beast howled at her rejection but I could tell her wolf wanted what I wanted.
She was fighting her wolf in order to push me away, as if that was possible.
"Calista, dear." The door swung open and a woman hurried in.
I recognized her.
Selena Rukers. Calista's grandmother.
"You are bleeding. Moon goddess, please not her." She rushed to her side.
"I'm fine, Grandma. It's just a scratch," she assured her but she wasn't buying it. She made her sit and then smelled the wound to see if it was infected or maybe poisoned.
I stepped back to give them space.
"It's clean but not safe," she said to her. The worry in her voice obvious. "It will heal in a few hours," Calista said but her grandmother was more observant than I imagined.
"Your lips." She pointed to the bite on her lips and Calista's eyes shifted to me.
Her grandmother noticed the shift and turned her head.
"Alpha Zane?" Her eyes widened as they settled on me. I stepped forward, trying to look less like the ruthless alpha I was known to be.
"Nice to meet you," I stretched out a hand and she took it politely.
"Selena." She said and I nodded. My eyes on Calista, the stubborn woman the moon gifted me as my mate.
