Chapter 5 Meeting Prep 2
Caiden
Sleep did not come easily as I tossed and turned all night. Finally I rolled over and checked my phone. 5am. Great. Might as well get up. I rise from bed and take a quick shower, a cold one, of course. Her scent is still stuck in my head. After that I change into training clothes and head off to beat the shit out of someone or something. It's the only way I can cope right now.
When I arrive I find Gregor in a similar nervous state that I'm in. Though I know the reasons are not the same.
"What's bothering you brother?" I ask him.
"I have a bad feeling about this Alpha and this meeting. I don't think it'll go well." He says.
"Why? Has something happened?" I inquire.
"No, but why would an Alpha stay so secretive? So secluded? It's in our nature to show off strength. This quiet strength, it's more dangerous, it's unknown. I don't know the Alpha, Beta, or Gamma. I don't know any high ranking females that may be your mate. Hell I don't even have a rough number on members or warriors. I could be walking into an assissination and not even know it!" He exclaims.
Damn he is stressed. I measure my words carefully and reply "You're not entirely wrong, but also a blantant attack on a peaceful Alpha would have consequences, this Alpha seems stubborn, but not impulsive. I doubt he would harm you. I can stay close to the borders with a few warriors if it would put you more at ease."
He looks at me with so much gratitude you would think I just offered to sacrifice myself for his life.
"I think that would be a good idea. Plus if I somehow find your mate you would be close." He responds.
"Don't get my hopes up." I say glumly.
"You're not going to be able to go back without her, will you?" He says.
"I might not have a choice. What if she was just passing through? If there's no high ranking females there she might be gone. Goddess knows if I'll ever find her."
"The Goddess always has a plan. Have faith. Now let's stop with the depressing conversation and beat the shit out of eachother." He says with a grin.
"You won't be able to lay a finger on me little brother." I taunt.
He gets into his fighting stance and motions me to attack. I gather all the rage I have for this asshole of an Alpha and channel it torwards him. I fake a right hook and swing my left leg for a gut shot. He staggers back. I keep attacking his body with my fists, not wanting him to have visible damage for later. He falls to the ground and I pin him by the throat.
"Shit it's been too long since I fought another Alpha." He says.
I just nod in agreement and say "Again."
After two hours of absolutely kicking my brothers ass, we have to call it and get ready for the meeting. I go back to my room for yet another cold shower. As the water crashes over me, her scent still swirls in my mind. I'm going to go insane if Gregor doesn't find her today.
In my frustration I pull the handle for the shower hard and it snaps off. "FUCK!" I exclaim as I slap the tile next to me, cracking it. Shit, I'm going to owe Gregor some repairs for this.
After my temper tantrum I get dressed in stealth gear and meet Gregor along with three warriors in the kitchen.
"Alright let's review the plan." Gregor begins as we all look at him expectantly. He continues "In one SUV, Caiden and you three will follow me until two miles outside of the gates. You'll stay there unless I signal you to move just outside the gates. If for some reason you need to breech, Caiden will lead. You will follow him as if he is me." He says sternly.
"Yes, Alpha." The three warriors reply.
"Link me and keep me updated the whole time, Gregor." I say.
"Will do. Let's go." He says, popping a mini croissant in his mouth.
We walk out to the front of the pack house and pile into the blacked out SUV waiting. I slide into the drivers seat and floor it. I'm coming for you, mate.
