Chapter 6 The Meeting

Melanie

"Alpha Gregor has arrived at the gate." My warrior links me.

"Is he alone?" I link back.

"Yes." He confirms.

"Let him through."

It's time. How this greeting plays out is entirely up to Gregor. Though based on how I've been treated so far I am going to assume that he'll be disrespectful.

We stand outside the pack house in the traditional formation we would take to meet a fellow Alpha. I'm in front, Xavier is slightly behind me to my right and Sean to my left. A Luna typically would stand directly next to the Alpha, but we don't have one of those. It might be a good idea though. Maybe I can be a lesbian? Sounds less complicated. Not into girls though, which is unfortunate.

I push the thought aside as the SUV rolls to a stop. Gregor gets out of the drivers seat and surveys the area. The man is gigantic, at least 6'5", he's not my usual type, but there is something undeniably attractive about his honey colored hair and deep green eyes.

His eyes continue to scan the area as if he's looking for somebody. Then he approaches us and says "Luna?" and bows. I can't even blame him for that assumption, so I was going to let it slide. Until he fucking turns his back on me squares himself up with fucking Xavier and says "Where is the Alpha?"

He could have fucking asked me and I would have told him. Jackass. If he's like this his more powerful brother is probably fucking worst. At this point I'm glaring at him and Xavier.

Xavier clears his throat and says "She is right there." With the biggest shit eating grin on his face.

He swivels back around to survey me. I'm not quite sure what he's looking for. I'm not as tall as him but I'm around 5'10" I train often and I am an Alpha so I have defined muscles including abs, which he can't see through my buttoned up shirt, obviously. His deep green eyes meet my light blue ones as he studies me intensely.

"The pack is ok with this?" He asks Xavier as he waves his hand vaguely torwards me "Nobody challenged her?" He added.

"42 people challenged her actually." I responded directly to him. Fucking asshole talking around me like I'm unintelligent.

"I would like to speak to one of them." He says.

"Sorry don't think the dead can speak, unless you're some sort of psychic." I respond curtly.

"You killed them all?" He says with surprise.

"Yes, I'd love to make it 43 if you're up to it. It's been awhile since I burnt a body and sent it back to the family. There's something oddly satisfying about it. The rogues I just leave to rot on the forest floor. It's not the same." I say coldly.

I see a mischievous glint in his eye and I can tell he enjoys my attitude, it isn't common amongst females.

"Do you have a mate, Alpha?" He says.

"No."

"Were you running near our shared border yesterday morning?" He asks.

There it is. He thinks I'm his big brother's mate.

"I don't see how my patrol schedule is relevant to you." I respond.

"It's relevant because my brother, Alpha Caiden of the Silver Crescent pack caught his mates scent there yesterday morning." He says with an edge to his voice.

"Soo..?" I say questioningly with an edge of mockery.

"So what?" He responds.

"So how is this relevant to our discussions?" I clarify

"You being my brothers mate is plenty relevant. It changes everything." He says exasperated while throwing his hands in the air.

"I have no intention of ever taking a mate. I've considered a woman for the Luna position, but I dont think I can get into eating pussy." I say crudely.

He laughs at that and says "So what do you do for heats and the full moon? Stay celibate? Use a vibrator?"

"I do what any Alpha would do when they get horny." I say.

"Fuck a lower rank?" He confirms.

I nod my head yes and out of the corner of my eye I see Xavier quickly look down and flush light pink. Damn I hope he didn't catch that.

"Oh, Beta. My brother will not like that." He says.

Fuck.

"If you're done grilling me about my personal affairs, let's head to the meeting room to discuss actual business." I say.

"Sure."

We head into the packhouse and gather into the meeting room. Gregor sits on one side of the table and me, Xavier, and Sean sit on the other, drawing a clear line between us.

"I don't believe I caught your name, Alpha. I'm Gregor." He says reaching his hand across the table to shake mine.

"And I'm not dumb enough to shake your hand so you can take my scent back to your brother to jack off to." I respond.

"Interesting name." He says with a sly smile.

I roll my eyes "My name is Melanie. Alpha Melanie."

"Pretty name my brother will like that." He winks.

I could get pissed and threaten him, but I need to get him off balance, fluster him a bit. I link Cynthia to come in with refreshments and start flirting with him. Might as well see if we can get that plan to work or not. I don't see a mark on him, so I doubt he's mated.

As Cynthia walks into the room his whole body goes rigid and he takes a deep breath through his nose.

"Mate." He says huskily.

Oh shit! I'm not sure if this ruins everything or is actually perfect. I suppose it depends on Cynthia's intention with him. I know she doesn't want a mate, but still.

Cynthia is frozen staring at him. I link her "Cynthia you don't have to do this any more. I will negotiate with him through the council and make it work. I'm not going to ask you to manipulate or fight your mate. I also won't fight against you if it comes to that."

"Oh Alpha, I've heard every word this prick has been saying to you. The plan is still on." She links back.

"Be careful Cynthia, the bond is easy to succumb to from what I heard. If you change your mind just let me know." I link.

"I assure you this changes nothing." She says and cuts the link.

She doesn't actually know anything that I'm not about to tell Gregor myself so I really only have to gain in this situation.

Game on then.
