Chapter 2 The Ozul
The police officers looked at who spoke, and they saw a tall, muscular, fierce-looking man. He had a sneaky smile on his face, covered with blood droplets. The eyes of the officers widened when they saw the white shirt on his body, soiled with blood and something that looked like fleshy chunks. They even noticed the sharp nail-type weapon attached to his fingers.
They knew that no human could have such sharp fingernails. And they couldn’t understand why those nails looked like claws. But soon their attention was divided by the screaming of the human.
“Who are you?” demanded one of the officers, and both officers immediately pointed their guns at the scary man standing before them.
“I am the boogie man you guys were talking about. I am Ozul,” smiled the tall man.
“What do you want?” demanded Officer 1.
Ozul just lifted his finger and pointed at the human. “He is mine. Give him to me, and I will give you a painless death.”
“You are staring at the barrel of the gun, and yet you are not afraid. Instead, you are putting forward your demand. You want us to give an innocent to you. Have you lost your mind? God! Can this night get any weirder? Are you guys role-playing? You know Halloween is months away,” snapped Officer 2.
“Ha-ha,” laughed Ozul. “Creatures of the night don’t need one special night to come out and play. We make our sport and play on our own terms.”
“Look, man!” Officer 1 took a deep breath and exhaled loudly. “He is afraid!” he pointed at the human and continued, “You can continue your game tomorrow after he gets some help. He is bleeding. And stop saying you are Ozul. We will have to arrest you.”
“Arrest me? You lowly humans think you can arrest me?” laughed Ozul.
“So, you think you killed all those people? With what? Your stupid nails?” snapped Officer 1.
“Who do you think is killing all those people, if not me?” Ozul asked the officers.
“Obviously, it’s the work of a copy killer. That’s why there is not one fixed DNA that we find at the killing sites,” educated Officer 2.
“And what are they using to kill those people if not my so-called nails?” said Ozul, and as he finished speaking, his claws slowly started retracting inside his skin.
Both officers stopped breathing. Slowly, their breath shuddered, and they came to their senses. Now they knew that something was afoot. The man standing before them was not normal. Now they started believing the human who was asking them for help. Officer 1, who was close to the human, slowly moved his one hand and reached for the bundle of keys in his pocket.
“Lock yourself in the jail! Now! Go!” ordered Officer 1.
Human’s hand started shivering, but he somehow grabbed the keys and ran towards the jail.
Ozul took one step, but the officers were ready. They fired one shot near his foot to warn him, “stop! Whoever you are! Stop! Or we will shoot.”
“Puny humans! You and your guns! You think guns can solve everything. How wrong you are. Well! If I had time, I would play with you. But I have to win. That human is mine. Who gets that human first wins tonight, and I always win. So, you are going to die as you are standing in the way of my victory,” said Ozul with a stoic face while constantly looking at his fingers, and again his claws came out.
Before he could move another step forward, both officers started shooting. Like a ninja, he kept moving left and right and within a fraction of a second, the officers’ necks were in Ozul’s grip. He just moved his thumb slightly, and the necks snapped with a faint crack. He wanted to play with their bodies, but he had no time.
He could hear his fellow players coming closer. They were hooting, laughing and shouting. The human was on the verge of opening the jail. Ozul just tilted his head and looked at the human. He moved near the human who was still looking for the correct key.
Ozul kept moving towards him, and the human kept changing the key every second. Ozul smiled at his sense of hope. The human was thinking that if he got inside the jail, he would be safe. How wrong was he?
The moment Ozul was about to reach the human, the key clicked, and the jail opened. He ran inside and immediately locked it. Ozul moved his hand close to the human to grab him, but the human ran far away from him and stuck to the farthest wall he could find. He was now breathing heavily, thinking that he was safe. No one could enter the jail cell as the key was with him, and he had locked the door. He grabbed his chest and kept thanking any god who would hear him.
Poor man! He had no idea that all the gods had left his side after they saw that the devil himself visited him.
“Oh! You are going to lose!!” a killer said in a sing-song voice while walking inside the police station. He had a big smile on his face.
“For the first time in his life, Ozul is going to lose, ha-ha,” another killer laughed at Ozul.
“You think so!” smirked Ozul and snapped his head to look at the human cowering in a corner inside a jail cell. Staring directly into his eyes, Ozul grabbed the bars of the jail, and as if they were made of paper, he ripped them apart, and within a second, his hands were at the throat of the human.
“You are mine!” said Ozul, looked at all his friends, looked back at the human, who was shivering with fear and sank his teeth into his neck. A gust of blood oozed out, covering Ozul with hot liquid.
“This asshole!” groaned all the other killers after seeing Ozul’s kill.
“Yeah, he always wins,” said another killer.
“Let’s go! I am full now after eating so many wolves and humans,” said the third killer.
“Ozul! You will make sure the cleaning job is done, right?” asked a fourth killer, looking bored as if he had not just killed people.
But Ozul didn’t reply to him. He was busy chomping on the fresh blood and fresh flesh from the human he just killed.
“Ozul! I asked you something!” snapped the fourth killer.
Ozul closed his eyes in anger and stopped eating. With his mouth stained with blood and chunks of meat, he flew directly at the fourth killer and grabbed him by his neck. “You think you can order me. Do you know who you are talking to, boy? Be happy that you are one of the players and not the prey. Next time you raise your voice at me, I will make you the prize in the game, is that clear?”
“I… I am sorry, very sorry,” shivered the fourth killer.
Ozul threw him away from himself and went back to eat the human inside the jail cell. A man approached Ozul and quietly stood next to him. Ozul looked at him and ordered, “you know what to do.”
“Yes, sir!” and he left Ozul to eat in peace.
The next morning, the whole town was buzzing with the news that Ozul had not only killed civilians, but he also killed police officers.
