Chapter 1

Through this brass mailbox key left by my grandfather, I can freely travel between this post-apocalyptic wasteland and modern society.

I considered Kyle, the leader of the human sanctuary, my life-or-death ally, continuously supplying modern resources, hoping to cultivate a force belonging to humanity in the wasteland.

I raised my hand, preparing to knock on the gate according to our signal.

From behind the door, Kyle's voice came through.

"So that kid will deliver the medicine tonight?"

"What, you actually consider him an equal partner?" Another rough and arrogant voice belonged to Sera, the strongest beastman female chieftain in this area.

Kyle let out a sneer: "Sera, don't insult my intelligence. From beginning to end, we've only treated him as a walking, renewable supply depot!"

"The supplies he's brought us are enough for decades. We don't need him anymore. When he drops off the supplies tonight, we'll seize the opportunity to break his limbs. I'll peel off his skin bit by bit, force him to reveal the true source of the supplies, then cut off his head to eliminate future trouble forever," Sera said.

The cold wind howled outside, yet it couldn't match even one ten-thousandth of the ice that surged up from the bottom of my heart.

My fingers gripping the tactical bag instantly tightened, knuckles turning white.

Rage burned in my chest, but I didn't immediately kick down the door to confront them.

Since they had already formed an alliance and set an ambush, entering now would be walking into a trap.

Only by staying alive could I make them pay.

I silently retreated, preparing to take advantage of the cooling period for spatial travel that was about to end, and withdraw to the modern world first.

But just as I stepped back half a pace, Sera's alert voice came from inside.

"Wait, I smell a human, right outside the door!"

Damn it!

A beastman's sense of smell far exceeds humans by dozens of times!

Before I could even draw my gun, Sera's massive body burst through the door and grabbed me by the throat.

"Caught you, little rat eavesdropping at the door!"

Without any hesitation, I immediately drew the handgun from my outer thigh with my right hand, pressed the muzzle against her forearm and fired twice.

Sparks flew as the bullets struck Sera's bio-armor, leaving only two white marks!

A beastman's physical constitution simply cannot be measured by normal standards!

"You still love wasting effort, Ryan."

Kyle walked out leisurely, wearing the bulletproof vest I had given him.

He pressed a stun baton directly against my side.

Violent electric current rampaged through my body. My body convulsed violently, I couldn't muster any strength, and the handgun fell from my grip into the snow.

Sera slammed me hard onto the solid ice.

The intense pain made me spit out a mouthful of blood.

"Your vigilance is terrible, brother." Kyle stepped on my fractured ribs, looking down at me condescendingly.

He bent down and snatched my waterproof tactical bag, impatiently unzipping it.

When he saw the fifty boxes of antibiotics neatly stacked inside, the greed in Kyle's eyes could no longer be concealed.

"See that, Sera! With this batch of medicine, the entire Seventh District will have to submit to us!" Kyle kicked my face mockingly. "Ryan, you're the stupidest delivery man I've ever seen."

"Stop wasting words with him, strip off his valuable clothes first."

They savagely stripped off my polar combat suit and outer armor, then threw me into the blizzard zone of the Ice Storm Wasteland.

That place was infested with countless wind wolves.

Hypothermia and severe injuries began to blur my vision. I saw over a dozen pairs of ghostly green eyes lighting up one after another, approaching me.

I couldn't help but clench my teeth.

Although they hadn't discovered the brass key pressed against my chest, the key had a cooling period for spatial travel, and the cooling time hadn't passed yet.

Was I going to die in the jaws of wind wolves?

Just as a wind wolf opened its fangs and pounced toward my body, I, lying in the snow, was suddenly enveloped in a white light and completely disappeared from the wasteland.

The brass key's cooling time had finally ended!

I crashed heavily onto the concrete floor of the modern world, propping myself up with one hand, leaning against a warehouse crate and gasping for breath.

Kyle, Sera, you think that by killing me, you can rest easy in the wasteland?

Just wait. Once I heal my wounds, I'll return to the wasteland again. I'll make sure there's no place left for you two traitors in this wasteland!
