Chapter 1 Chapter 1) Betrayed.
“Why?”. In an empty abandoned room, a voice, filled with pain, and almost low like a whisper, escaped from a young lady's lips.
She sat on the dirty floor, with her knees almost touching her chest, and her arms wrapped around the legs.
Her chin was also resting on her knees, and tears filled her eyes, making them blurry. The most tragic day of her life happened to her a few hours ago, and the memory was so fresh that it felt like it was happening right now.
“Why did you do this to me?”.
“Were your promises a lie? Was your love for me a lie?”. She asked as she looked up and stared at the ceiling with a heavy sigh.
A drop of tear escaped from her eye, and she ignored the cut in her stomach.
Including her clothes, which had been drenched in her blood.
{Many hours ago}
“We are close to our goal, Demira. I promise you, now that we have defeated the wicked tyrant Alpha, I will step up as the new Alpha, and I am certainly going to make you my wife and my Luna”.
Kayson said to her, and because both of them had been through hell together, she actually believed him.
They were both orphans. Different blood. But they stuck to each other and relied on each other.
But one day changed their lives forever. They were captured and taken away by the tyrant Alpha’s warriors, into the place called ‘The cage’, where werewolves were trained to become assassins.
Only the two strongest survivors out of each 50 sets of captured werewolves would be given the privilege to leave the cage and do the tyrant Alpha's bidding.
But they must be fed poison before they are let out, so that the tyrant Alpha would be able to control them as he wanted.
Both of them went through hell, but they both awakened their wolves, which were so powerful, and made them survive.
The news of it reached the tyrant King’s ears. He gave them honors, wealth, and power, but all that came with huge consequences. Their peace of mind.
They couldn't sleep well at night because of the countless lives they had taken.
But if they did not comply with that tyrant Alpha's wishes, he was going to turn against them and have them killed.
So, Kayson came up with an idea of killing the tyrant King. It was an idea that everyone had thought about but didn't dare to do, because the tyrant Alpha was such a formidable warrior himself. That was why he was able to become an Alpha after killing the real Alpha.
Demira did not agree with the idea at first, but after being persuaded by Kayson, and because of the love she had for him, she agreed to walk along that perilous path with him, and was ready to die with him if everything didn't go as planned.
But after poisoning the tyrant Alpha and engaging in a fight with him which lasted for a whole day and an entire night, Demira gave him the final blow and had him killed.
In the blink of an eye, Kayson became the new Alpha, and because the entire pack agreed to it, the warriors had no choice but to pay their respects to their new Alpha.
And her? She got betrayed in the worst possible way.
It was night.
Both of them were walking side by side in the garden, with her arm tucked in his arm.
There was a bright clueless smile on her face, as she stared briefly at the dark sky that was filled with an auspicious number of stars.
The moon was shining very brightly, making her think that he had brought her out there to propose to her.
But after he made her let go of his arm and caused her to turn to him, what stabbed her stomach was his sharp claws.
Her eyes widened, and for the first time in a long time, her world spun around in a way she could not fathom.
Her hands shook, before they touched her stomach. When she stared at her palms, she saw that the blood gushing out of her stomach had stained them.
She looked at the man she loved with pure disbelief, but all she saw was a cold-hearted face. The love in his eyes had completely vanished in a flash.
She did not recognize him anymore.
While she was still trying to understand what was going on, she collapsed to her knees on the ground.
Her eyes were getting blurry.
She was dying and had started panting fast. It was loud enough, and she could hear it.
“Wh- why?”. She gasped for air as she asked him, and her eyes stung from getting red.
He squatted in front of her and held onto her shoulders, as if supporting her and preventing her from collapsing any further.
He grinned, before leaning close to her ear. “Why?”. He asked her in a mocking tone, before he continued to say, “I can't allow someone as powerful as you to remain by my side. You are too dangerous, Demira. More dangerous than me”.
“So please, just die”.
“And, know that I had lied to you before. I told you that I stole the antidote to the poison that was a threat to our lives if we dare go against that bastard Alpha”.
“But, you had no clue that I had not told you the whole truth. Of course, I stole the antidote, but I gave you the wrong antidote and took the entire antidote for myself. But even after that, you were able to fight stronger than me. And the remaining trained assassins of that bastard, I was the one who killed them all. I can't have someone as strong as them in my pack”.
“I wouldn't have been able to do that without the help of Elora. And yes, she's the one who is going to become my future Luna and bear my heirs”.
After he cruelly said these words to her, he rose to his feet, causing her to struggle with kneeling straight.
And it was at this moment that Elora showed up.
She appeared behind Kayson, with her hand placed intimately on his shoulder.
She was the daughter of the late tyrant Alpha, but just like the rest of the pack, she hated her father and wanted him long dead.
“Oh. Look who we have here. Are you in pain, Demira?”. She said with a sneer, before ignoring the pale faced Demira and focusing her attention on Kayson.
Her hand reached out to his face and caressed his cheek.
“Are you sure you are not going to regret this? After all, according to you, both of you have a long history together before I showed up in the picture”. She asked him.
Listening to her say that, Kayson held her hand that was caressing his cheek.
Without remorse, he spitted out, “Those moments with her are merely history. You are the one whom I truly love, and nothing can ever change that”.
Demira felt like choking upon hearing his words. Her head felt dizzy because of the blood she had lost.
She tried to force herself to stay awake, but her eyes betrayed her.
She wanted to get up, grab him, and yell at him. She wanted to know what she did wrong to him, to the extent that he could betray her like this without batting an eye.
Most especially, she wanted revenge.
She knew how much she had given him.
How she always shielded him when they were stuck in ‘the cage’.
How she taught him the way to fight. How she taught him the way to survive.
How she helped him survive.
‘I swear, if there's a next life, I will make you pay for this, Kayson. I swear-’. She thought, before losing consciousness and collapsing completely on the ground.
What she thought was going to be a happy moment for her, turned out to be a moment she was never going to forget, even in the afterlife.
