Chapter 2 Twisted bargain

Before anymore thought could form in my head, Everything blurred even harder as I waited for that sharp burst of pain. That would pierce straight through my back and finish me off. But it never came. Instead a gruff voice laced with so much pain and difficulty jolted me out of my reverie.

“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!”

Still I didn't so much as acknowledge it. 'w-why wasnt i unconscious yet? Arent dead people supposed to hear nothing or have any idea what was going on in their body?' I questioned as my heart began thrumming hard in my ears.

No, no, no, no!

It cant be what I was thinking....was it? I tried remaining as still as a statue not daring to breathe too hard or move for fear of what could only be the truth.

But soon, the sound of something, akin to a fabric ripping fast and dangerously echoed in the air. And when my airway suddenly became constricted due to lack of oxygen, my eyes immediately snapped opened.

Despite my blurry vision, I could still make out the strong hand shooting out towards me. The moon was a good source tonight, only it was only useless to me. Harsh grunts spilled out from the body looming dangerously above me. And I wondered if this was a phase i had to go through before finally dying.

Except the next words shattered it all.

"I. Cant. Emphasize.Enough! But are you fûcking out of your mind?" A man's voice. That was what it was. He sounded almost in too much pain, I wanted to ask him to come along with me. We could be free together and not have to worry about so much in the afterlife.

How bliss–

"Hey! Hey! Are you even hearing me? Dont you dare die or even faint on me now! Or else I would make sure to follow you, and haunt the fuck out of your ghost! You hear me?"

His words were laced with so much authority and command like he expected me to do as he said. Even at the point of death, he was an arrogant jerk. How pathetic!

"I am not joking girl! Answer me or say anything for Christ sake! I can't hold on much longer!" Desperation laced his voice this time around, close to panic but not quite there. Why was he still here? He was acting as an external force against me. And I don't quite appreciate it.

"Hey! Listen to me! Can you hear whats surrounding you now? Huh?" His tone quickly turned taunting now and I could almost picture his face smirking before he continued again. "Listen closely yeah? Thats the soumd of the ocean hitting right against the edge of those rocks right there. You ain't dead now, like I know you so desperately wished. But imagine I personally send you to death's door. Releasing you ever so slowly and watching your brain splatter to pieces as you writhe in agonizing pain for hours....maybe in sunrise tomorrow, who knows?

"You would then wish someone would miraculously come around, see you and then seek for help just because the pain is too much and you are not dying seemlessly as you had wished! Pfft! How pathetic would it be? You know whats worse? The main reason you are running would become plastered all around. They would mock you, shame you and very few would sympathize with you. At the end of the day, they would all label you as 'suicidal'. And you would be forced to a mental institution just so you can get help! Isnt it exhausting just thinking about it?"

He sing song merrily as his daunting laughter accompanied his eerily gruesome and terrifying speech shaking my very core. I didn't know when my eyes snapped open so much the fiery breeze from the ocean hurt it so much.

His vivid description of how my attempted suicide could have played off, rattled me off my very existence. I could almost imagine the pain, the bloodiness and the darkness while I remained sprawled there alone with no chance of help from anyone.

Worse what if some unknown creatures wandered out of the water and found me as their food? My body shuddered with those excruciatingly painful imaginations. I suddenly didn't wanna die anymore.

The pain for all those quiet hours wasnt so much as worth it anymore. I came to realize my body was shivering with the chilling air....and without doubt the fear of whosoever this sick person was dropping me to my death. Despite him saving me in the first place.

He could be a psychopath for all I know wanting to hurt and destabilize me mentally before he acted in his twisted fantasies.

Adrenaline like never before pumped even harder in my veins, blood gushed in abundance through my whole body as a renewed desire to live suddenly surge through me.

My skating dress seemed to have been what I heard ripping apart earlier. And if care wasnt taken enough, with or without a facilitator, I could fall to my death. My heart almost dropped down to my stomach when His grip on the material on my chest became more loose like he could hear my thoughts.

"P-please....l-let me b-back up. I-I p-promise i-I wouldnt do anything stupid like T-this a-again! P-please d-dont let me go! I b-beg you!" My voice now hoarse and choked with unending sobs sounded haunting even in my own ears.

"Woah the cliff jumper suddenly has tongue. I could have sworn you were mute....what a pity." He tsked in fake concern. But the sound of the water just a few feet from where I was dangling made me flinch even harder. I tried clawing at the rocks close by but my hands were too slippery with sweat and anxiety to hold on.

"I-i can you j-just please let me back up. I promise to give y-you a-anything you want! J-just p-please!"

"Dont go about making promises now....Sunshine. Isnt ironic though? Calling you sunshine when that head of yours is filled with so much dark thoughts! But I digress...."

"P-please just let me back up there. You can make your findings about m-me if you want. But I keep to my w-words, no matter how small it is."

"Yeah? The way you are keeping to it now to probably your friends and loved ones by commuting suicide?"

Shame burned holes all over my body with his harsh truth. I didn't want to think about them now.

Not when I wasn't guaranteed of seeing the next day.

"It w-was just–i d-dont know! I a-am sorry!" The world was as quiet as it could be now. Only constantly interrupted with mine and this stranger's voice. Me, the sound of my ugly cries. And him, the sound of his belittling voice.

"Fine! I guess I could make do with it for now. But let me tell you. You make so much as a funny move back up here, and I do you the honorable pleasure of bringing you more pain than you think existed. Got it?"

My head bobbed in approval with his words as a meek yes leftmy lips. And in three harsh grunts, he pulls me with everything he had in him back up the the surface.

Before the words could leave my mouth, he tuggs me violently far away from the edge of the cliff, before throwing my weak body against the front of my car's bonnet.

MMPH!

My legs gave out on me as I fell down to a heap on the gravel path. For the first time, I was able to breathe well without the fear of losing my life if I had so much as breathe wrongly. My hands moved to clutch hard at my chest stilling the racing organ there.

'I could have been dead! I could have been fûcking dead by now!' My brain changed over and over again as if everything was just sinking in now. Tremors broke free on my body at that moment.

"Hey,hey, hey! You're okay now so no need to scare yourself shitless. Okay?" His words buzzed in and out of my other ear. It was true but I needed a moment to soak it all in.

"Are you cold? You are shivering badly." Warm jacket draped over me before my mouth could respond to his question. It reeked of exquisite cologne and pure masculinity, i couldn't help but want to bury myself deeper in it.

"Now, i have done part and I best believe you've also thought about it not being worth it. So you have to do your part also."

I looked up at him more up close now, and even though I couldn't make out his features correctly, The devilish smirk splaying across his lips told me more about him than I needed.

I had played dangerously into the trap he laid out for me....And so help me God if I survive it.
