Chapter 6 Little Chocolate

JESSICA

My lips parted as the motion went on.

And on.

Taking all my attention.

The one leaning on the desk has short hair and the body shape of a man.

I gulped at the thought of the possible person.

The one kneeling is a female, judging by her long hair and body shape. Her head bubbled up and down as she held the....

"I am done," David snatched my attention, making me look at him. His eyes were on his trousers and I nervously looked back at the window momentarily.

They are still doing the thing.

I nervously and quickly walked towards David and turned him back to where he peed.

"Hey...."

"Let me help you with your belt," I said, standing behind him and leaning down to help him. I began fixing his belt with my nervous hands.

But my curiosity stole my attention again as I looked back at the window while fixing the belt.

This time, the one seated is gripping the hair of the woman whose head is still moving up and down at a fast pace.

I got that familiar feeling in between my legs again, sending more of it all over my body.

I can't even take my eyes off them.

They went on.

And on.

The one leaning on the desk threw his head back.

That means.....that means he is en....

"Ow. You are hurting me with the buckle," David's whine almost made me jump.

"Sorry, sorry," I said, fixing his belt properly before standing up straight and moving the strands of my hair behind my ear nervously.

I forced myself not to look back at the window as David put down his shirt and jacket.

"Let's go," I said, extending my hand to him. He placed his hand on mine and was about to head back when my ever-curious eyes failed me again.

They moved to the window and, to their disappointment, the two had already disappeared.

I guess they are done.

How does it feel when.....

"I want more chocolate," David said, taking my attention again as we walked.

"What?"

"Chocolates. I want more," he said without looking at me.

I almost scoffed. "No more chocolates."

He released my hand instantly and began running towards the event spot.

"What the....David!" I whispered loudly.

He kept running, heading towards our mom.

I heaved a sigh of frustration.

This kid.

I hastened up my steps as I watched him fall on mom's lap, claiming her attention.

"David," I heard her call as she caressed his hair. "Where is your sister?"

"Here," I announced, making her look at me as I moved to my seat. "He ran ahead of me,"

"Did he pee?"

I nodded, taking my seat as I stared at my meal.

"Is something wrong?" Mom asked, making me look at her. She is the most observant person I have ever met in my life.

I shook my head. "Nothing."

"Mom, I want more chocolates," David whined, still leaning on mom's lap.

Seriously, David? He really wants to upset his belly.

"Honey, you have already had enough. If you take more, you will literally spend all night in the toilet, my love," she said, cupping his chin.

Thank you, mom. Tell him.

He lowered his gaze, pouting.

"Hey, you can have some tomorrow," I said, making him look at me.

I nodded.

He stared at me sadly.

My shoulders fell slightly.

"I will pack it up for you, and you will take it tomorrow. Tomorrow is not that far,"

He lowered his gaze, still pouting.

"Listen to your sister, honey," Mom said.

A snort from Aunt Valentina got our attention.

"Allow him to eat. Why are you stopping him?" she asked, sipping her wine.

"He will upset his belly if he continues," mom said.

Aunt scoffed. "You didn't think of that before letting him eat in the first place," she said, almost like she muttered without looking at mom as she sipped her wine.

I looked at mom.

She wasn't affected by Aunt's words as she gave David a bright smile, caressing his chin.

I moved my gaze to my meal, satisfied already. I am not a big eater like my little brother. Well, you can't compare because he is a kid.

Kids love to eat.

I moved my gaze to Aunt Valentina, processing what she said to mom. My dad and Uncle Brad might be best friends, but mom and Aunt Valentina are the opposite.

It looks like they only put up with each other because of their husbands. They barely talk to each other. Even if they do, it will be like a mockery sentence or negative remarks.

Mostly from aunt.

Mom response with silence. Just like she did.

I think it is the best.

That's what she always says to me. She said silence is one of the best responses to people who throw remarks that don't make sense.

And if I think about it, mom only let David eat chocolate at first because he is a kid. Sugar makes kids' brains active.

But too much of it is bad.

They could get stomach pain or tooth decay.

And if he does, I am the one who will take the penalty for it. I am literally an assistant mom.

Mom is mostly busy with her bakery and even though I got my first job as a nurse, I am still an assistant mom.

I have to help my mom take care of my brother.

Especially now that dad is going through bankruptcy. Mom's bakery business has to thrive so she can support him.

And I will support him too.

Dad really needs us at this moment.

I plan to give him my first pay once I get it.

I just hope he doesn't reject it.

Speaking of my dad, he is still with Uncle Brad and some business associates.

I wonder what they have been talking about for so long.

Uncle Xavier is still not with them.

I felt my insides twirl at the thought of Uncle Xavier being the man behind the curtains with a woman.

I cleared my throat, suppressing the weird feeling.

It is um....it is not a big deal. He is an adult.

He can do anything he wants. Besides, he needs to get married. Maybe he is planning to.

That woman might be his girlfriend.

Who knows, he might come and introduce her to......

"Where have you been, young lady?" Aunt Valentina snapped me off my thoughts.

She was looking at Kendra, who walked past her and moved to her seat.

Kendra didn't respond but sat in her seat next to Mercedes and right opposite me.

"I asked you a question, young lady," Aunt almost snarled.

"I went to the restroom, mom. Stop sounding like I ran away or something," Kendra said crankily as she flipped her brunet hair while sitting comfortably.

"I didn't know you could spend ages in the damn restroom," Aunt said, sounding pissed.

Kendra didn't respond but mumbled something under her breath as she began pressing her phone.

"Wait till I get a freaking query from your dad, then you will know," Aunt said, averting her eyes from Kendra while flipping her long black hair to the back.

Kendra rolled her eyes as she continued with her phone.

Mercedes nudged her shoulder slightly, claiming Kendra's eyes. Mercedes shrugged and Kendra shook her head slightly before returning her gaze to her phone.

I lowered my gaze, stopping myself from looking at her.

Kendra is exactly my age. But we were born in different months. She came first before I did. So there is just barely a month's gap between us.

She is all you can think of as a perfect beauty.

She is very beautiful. Extremely beautiful, as I have heard people say. She has the most gorgeous body and, to top it up, she is a talented dancer.

You need to see her dance. She is out of the universe whenever she dances. She is very flexible, you could think she doesn't have bones.

But she does.

She is good at what she does.

And don't forget her effortless way of attracting people to her. Especially boys.

It has been like that ever since high school.

Yes. We went to the same high school.

Alex inclusive.

All the boys, not just in class but the entire school, wanted her as a girlfriend.

She was the leader of the cheerleaders. She was perfect in all.

Good grades.

Good fan base.

Good everything.

She is perfect.

I don't envy that part. Actually, I don't envy her at all.

I only envy the fact that she has friends, and she is good with people.

And if you ask me about our relationship, I will say it is almost like the relationship between her mother and mine.

Note the "Almost"

She talks to me when she is in desperate need of something. That's all.

I am working on it though.

I have been working on it since high school.

I would love to be her friend. Maybe learn some dance moves and all.

I can't dance to save my life.

It is hard.

I wonder how she does it.

Well, maybe after we are friends I will learn a thing or two.

Not like I am forcing anything.

Just an effortless trial.

If it doesn't work, I won't be bothered. At least I tried.

"Leo," Uncle Brad's voice got my attention.

Dad was approaching the table angrily, making me furrow my brows.

"Leo," Uncle Brad called again, but dad wasn't giving him a listening ear. His eyes rested on us.

What is.....

"Carmen, let's go," he said to mom.

"Why, what's wrong?" Mom asked, confused as I am.

"We are leaving," he snarled.

"Why are we leaving? The party is not...."

"Let's go right now," he ordered in a low tone. His angry eyes moved towards me instantly.

"What the hell are you still sitting there looking at me for? Get up!"

I quickly got on my feet and so did my mom and David. I heard a scoff from aunt and I noticed everyone looking at us as we walked out of the table.

What happened?

Why is dad upset?

Dad walked ahead and we followed him behind.

"Why are we leaving, Leo? What happened?" Mom asked as we walked.

Dad didn't respond but kept walking.

"Leo!" Mom whispered loudly.

He still didn't respond.

I looked back, and I saw Uncle Brad and Uncle Xavier talking from the distance while staring at us.

Uncle Brad seems to be explaining to Uncle Xavier the reason why my dad is upset.

What could have happened?

What did they say to him that got him this pissed?

ALONG THE ROAD

A few minutes into the road, the ride is silent and disturbing.

Dad refused to speak but drove in silence. Mom kept staring at him from the passenger's seat where she was seated.

David and I are in the back seat. He is busy with his iPad, playing his favorite video games.

"Are you going to tell me what happened back there?" Mom spoke up.

I rested my eyes on Dad, waiting for an answer too.

He didn't say a word.

"What happened, Leo?" Mum almost yelled.

"I don't want to talk about it," he said coldly without looking at her.

Mom scoffed. "You don't want to talk about it? Seriously?"

Dad didn't respond.

"You were busy with Xavier's business associates and Brad. What did they say to you that made you so upset?" Mom asked.

"Just drop it, Carmen. I don't want to talk about it!" he yelled, glaring at her.
