Chapter 2

When I regained consciousness, I was at the Doctor’s place.

That… was unexpected.

My parents would never take me to a doctor. They’d rather let me die.

A strange woman was holding me, sobbing uncontrollably.

But her sorrow didn’t touch me.

I stared at her with dull, empty eyes.

I was an Omega at the very bottom. Even my gaze carried the weight of despair.

Next to her stood a handsome man.

“My Luna,” he murmured, voice low and full of pain. “Don’t cry. We’ve found our daughter.”

Her eyes were red, her golden curls tumbling softly over her shoulders, making her look almost angelic.

I didn’t resist anymore.

Her arms were warm. Her scent… oddly comforting.

But my head throbbed sharply with pain.

“Wait for me, Alex. That is your name, isn’t it? I need to speak to the Doctor.”

Just as I’d guessed—she let go of me the moment she had a better place to be.

I watched as she clutched her designer coat, leaned into the man’s arms, and hurried out of the room.

She had gotten what she came for.

She didn’t really want to hold a filthy, broken child like me any longer.

Alone in the hospital room, I let out a bitter smile.

So, these were my real parents.

And yet… they didn’t feel like parents at all.

I saw them that morning.

They’d watched everything from the shadows, saw me being beaten—and still chose to stay silent.

How noble.

How fake.
