Chapter 3
My body was covered in bruises, cuts, and fading wounds.
I stayed in the hospital for half a month, and during that time, Luna Gloria visited me almost every day.
Luna Gloria—my biological mother.
She often talked about my new home.
I had two brothers, she said, and… a sister.
A sister?
No, I didn’t have a sister.
Before they ever found me, I’d already do research on the Alpha family.
Even the tip about me—the long-lost daughter—was something I personally delivered into Luna Gloria’s hands.
That “sister”?
She was the girl Alpha Frank brought home after they lost me.
A replacement.
Her name was Claire—so perfectly opposite of mine, it was almost laughable.
She stole my identity, my life, and everything that was meant to be mine.
And ever since I heard the truth from my drunken foster father, I could no longer stay calm.
I hated this family with every cell in my body.
But it’s fine.
My revenge starts now.
A smile tugged at my lips—genuine, but only to me.
Luna Gloria thought I enjoyed hearing about “home.”
She looked delighted whenever she spoke to me.
“Darling, what were those fifteen years like, before we found you?”
I didn’t answer.
Just stared at her blankly, eyes dull and lifeless.
She tried to hide her impatience, but I saw right through it.
Our conversations were always one-sided.
She talked.
I listened.
Barely.
It was exhausting, but I kept pretending. I played alone.
“Sweetheart, I really hope you get better soon. Your brothers are so excited to meet you! Oh, believe me, they’re going to love you!”
This time, I didn’t let Luna Gloria perform her little show alone.
I widened my eyes dramatically, forcing a spark of anticipation into my expression.
“Really?”
My voice was soft, almost shy. Joyful. Hopeful.
Luna Gloria lit up.
Her tone grew warmer, almost giddy.
That reaction—my flawless performance—was the highest compliment she could give me.
She laughed, so I laughed too.
But inside, I was sneering.
If they were really so excited to meet me, would they have waited two whole weeks before bothering to visit?
Fragile lies never last long.
And I was ready to tear them apart.
