Chapter 4 The Chosen One
How could my simple life with my grandmother in the mountains suddenly vanish like a bubble? Among all the women in the world, why am I facing this situation?
What's happening to my body? Is it true that I am one of them now?
When Kaizer tried to reach for me, I backed away. I couldn't understand what I saw in his eyes when I retreated.
"Kaizer, it's better not to overwhelm her with the events just yet."
I knew it was the voice of the oldest among them.
"The council witnessed how her eyes glowed. The whole imperial court of Wisteria is convinced that she's our deity from the other world."
What? What is this woman saying?
"I think this is enough," the oldest said coldly.
All the fires in the surrounding pots died out, and the lights turned back on. I could only see the eight siblings. Any trace of the other vampires disappeared as if their presence in the darkness had never existed.
"It's better if I talk to her first. You can't explain it well, Kaizer, because you might just end up biting her again."
The woman who pulled me earlier stood up again and started to approach me.
I remained still in my position. What will happen to me when I go back to my grandmother? How will I tell her that I am a vampire now? What the fuck?
"Saera, let's go, they're hard to talk to," the woman offered me her hand.
Even though I was hesitant, I took her hand. I didn't want Kaizer to approach me because my body was reacting badly to him.
"Astrid, please explain it to her properly."
I saw Astrid roll her eyes at what Kaizer said.
"Come on, Kaizer, I'm not used to you being like that," Astrid said, laughing.
"Astrid, we're coming too."
My eyes couldn't keep up with how quickly the twins approached Astrid and me.
"Okay, our family tree is too long. I need backup."
The twins pushed me to get out of this huge room, while Astrid followed us.
When we got back to the room I came from, I immediately sat down, feeling weak. Why did I feel Kaizer's bite now?
"Is this Kaizer's room?" I asked Astrid, who was already beside me and sitting down. The twins were also there, staring intently at me.
"Yes," Astrid quickly replied.
"It's really strange. I saw her eyes turn red when Kaizer bit her. Why doesn't she have fangs yet? I can't even feel her strength. She's still like a human."
The girl moved closer to me to examine me more closely. Meanwhile, the boy remained silent in a corner.
"There's already a change in her, she wore glasses when she was still human. Her hair is also short."
The girl nodded in agreement.
"I should introduce myself. Enid Lancaster. Nice to meet you, our deity."
I was surprised when the girl grabbed my hand and kissed it. I didn't notice that her twin was also holding my other hand, kissing it like his twin.
"Elliot Lancaster, how are you?"
The boy smiled at me, which I thought he couldn't do. Looking at them, the twins seemed to be only eight to nine years old.
"You probably know me already?" Astrid said, laughing.
"Wait, why are you introducing yourselves to me? I have nothing to do with you. Return me to my old life. I'm not a vampire."
I shook my head at them. I didn't want to embrace the life they were introducing to me.
"You have vampire blood, Saera. You're not a pure human. I'm still wondering why Luciana didn't explain everything to you. That's why we're having a hard time explaining."
Astrid took out a very large map from the drawer of Kaizer's side table. She laid the old map on the bed, which I couldn't see clearly because it was so old.
"Don't ask about your history yet, Saera. It's better if I explain why you're here first."
My eyes widened when I saw a small knife in Astrid's hand. Without warning, she cut her palm, letting her blood drip onto the faded map. Her blood automatically followed every line of the map.
"This world is divided into five empires, and each empire is divided into kingdoms. I won't explain the entirety of the remaining four empires to you. I'd rather you focus on the empire you're in now. You are in the Igor Empire, which is divided into four kingdoms: Igor Wisteria, Igor Aetherio, Igor Veilshore, and Igor Tethoris. You are currently in the kingdom of Igor Wisteria, where you will meet the Lancaster family, that's us."
I felt like my world was spinning with the length of what she was saying as she pointed out the places she was talking about on the map.
"I don't understand," I said, confused.
"Astrid, I'll explain it to her," Enid interjected.
"Don't think about the empires Astrid is talking about. Just like this, you're in Igor, which is divided into four. Of course, our kingdom is one of them in Igor, and it's called Igor Wisteria, and our family rules this whole kingdom."
I nodded at Enid's short explanation. Astrid just smirked at her sister's explanation.
"Go on, Enid, you explain."
Enid just nodded.
"In every hundredth year of the empire, four men are born who are destined for mortal women who grew up in the other world. In our kingdom, Kaizer has the mark. Only select men have this, and his mark is a spade. You know that, right? You probably play cards, don't you? There are four of them, right? Spade, club, heart, and diamond."
I paused at what Enid said.
"Spade? That's the design of the mirror in our bathroom! I'm sure that mirror is here too. I need to go back, I'm not the mortal you're looking for," I pleaded. They both shook their heads at what I said.
"Kaizer has already hidden the mirror, Saera, you can't go back. You belong to Kaizer now."
