Chapter 6 Chapter 6

Desdemona’s POV

The next two days were all a blur. Everything went as it was supposed to go, and yet all I could think of was how I was going to tell them any other clue to find me. That there must be some way that I could see them in my dreams again. But to my utter misfortune, I could not see them again. That night I took a sleeping draught hoping to get a sleep where I could dream of them.

The moonflowers that I had collected and dried amplified visions and I hoped that it would work this time. Lavendar for love, chamomile for calmness and vetiver for protections. Moonflowers were the last part of the draught as I slowly created the fine powder in my rose quartz mortar and pestle. I might not have a lot of things but I was allowed a few because the wolves of the pack came to me for potions of virility and fertility. It was a common enough draught to make and my father knew of it.

Marissa hated that wolves of the pack were dependant on a human freak but she could go against the Alpha since he knew that I was helping the pack increase in numbers.

Small wins for sure, but with the kind of life I led, I would take any win that came my way.

But the next time I was awakened, I didn’t even want to wake up. I wished that I was dead forever, or at least till they could come and find me.

They had known nothing about me. They didn’t even know who I was to them and what they were to me. They didn’t know that I was the one that they needed to find in order to stay alive. They knew nothing and stupidly I was back.

I did not wake up in my bed. Not even in my dungeon room. Before I could realise what was happening a sharp crack rang and the skin on my back burst open.

The phantom pain in my body is extreme and I try to scream but no sound except groan comes out of my throat when I realise that I was bound in silver chains and hanging from the wall. And the pain is not phantom at all.

It was real.

That bitch had pulled me from my bed in my sleep in order to lock and cage me here so that Damien could torture me. She must have been watching me to know that I would be in deep sleep.

After everything that I had done for them she still wanted me dead.

My breath catches in my throat as I pull my head up and look at Damien standing before me with a whip in his hands. This wasn’t the normal whip either. This was the one with silver barbs and tips so that it could be used to inflict maximum pain on any wolf.

I might not be able to shift but silver still affected me like it did any other wolf.

I could feel the burn on my body from the lashes as I watched Damien’s sadistic smile. It was daylight out but I still couldn’t hear anyone else.

“No one is coming to save you this time, bitch! I made sure that I wouldn’t be interrupted when I had my fun with you!”

My breath catches at my throat as I look around at everything. I was inside the fucking armoury. There was one thing that I could still do but I would need proper motivation for that.

It feels like knives are being dragged from my toes to my thighs before a lancing pain shoots across my back as he whips me again. The crack sounds close to my ears.

A scream is torn from my throat as my vision dims but before I can fade into nothing, I suddenly feel myself moving. But I can’t move. I try to but I can’t.

The stone slab on which I placed is puddled with my sweat and blood. My clothes are torn and my body has been ravaged. The pack knows it is my blood but it still doesn’t know who has spilled it.

Rage starts building up inside me. The lights flicker, and the walls begin to vibrate. Tears cloud my vision and anger simmers close to the surface. Things start rattling off along the walls of the hooks and the weapons start falling down. Damien looks around and takes a step back from me.

“How the fuck are you doing that, you worthless cunt? Huh?” he shouts at me. But I can see the fear clear on his face.

The lights start shining a bit more brightly as I let my inner healing work on my ravaged body and show him my teeth.

Damien growls as he comes closer and the lights flicker again.

“I had warned you and your mother,” I croaked.

“That is something difficult to remember when you have been poisoned, dumb bitch!”

“Your mother was the one supposed to remember that,” I say with a bloody smile. It hurt me to speak. My tongue was a bit swollen but still I continued,” And the next time you do beat me up, you will lose your hands.”

“You can’t do that. Revenge against family members is forbidden, or did you forget that?” he taunted me.

The idiot had forgotten that he was the one who had done it in the first place and now was in the legally rightful position to kill him.

“No,” I said as I gulped,” you have,” I said.

The next moment the chains clanged and my manacles opened on their own. My feet could not hold my body’s weight and I crashed down on the stone floor. The pack’s magic had heeded my call.

Damien stood there with the whip in his hand with a befuddled expression.

“How?” he asked as the walls pulled back the chains inside them.

“Your mother will know how. Ask her to save you this time. Because at the next full moon, I will kill you.”

“You can’t. I am your brother,” smirked Damien. But his bravado was false and I could smell the rank taste of his fear at the back of my throat.

“I, Desdemona Mitchell, first borne daughter of Alpha Blackwood and Ramona Mitchell, challenge you, Damien Blackwood, to a duel till death in retribution of what you have inflicted on me, with the pack lands and the holy weapons as my witness. The next full moon will be the last time you breathe.”
