Chapter 4 Chapter Four

I look all over the house, and still can't find him. I start to make another lap around the house, knowing I had to have missed him. He would never just leave me and that's when I hear it.

Way off in the distance, I hear the faint squealing of police sirens, slowly getting closer. Shit, shit, shit the cops are coming. Of course the cops are coming, why wouldn't they be. The music is blaring there are a bunch of drunk idiots everywhere and this house sits right in the middle of a super nice neighborhood.

A neighbor probably called in a noise complaint or something. Come on Evan where are you? I frantically look around and that's when everyone else hears the sirens.

"COPS!" Someone screams at the top of their lungs and that's it. People start running in all different directions trying to get out. Someone bumps my shoulder and I hit the wall with my shoulder. I try to get out of the way, but it doesn't help. I get hit over and over again.

I wince everytime I bump the hall or get shoulder checked. "Where are you Evan?" I ask out loud, to no one in particular.

I think I catch a glimpse of him and I yell at the top of my lungs. "Evan, Evan, Evan we have to get out of here." I scream, trying to push my way through the crowd to where I saw him.

People are yelling and screaming, no one can hear anything over everyone elses screams and the increasing loudness of the sirens approaching. I run into someone and that's when I feel two hands on my back. "Move out of the way you fat cow, I need to get out of here " I don't see who said it, but I know who it was. Sapphire. Why wouldn't it be Sapphire.

I hit the ground hard, barely catching myself before I completely face plant. I see feet passing by, one after another and everytime I try to stand up, someone else knocks me down.

I just about give up, it feels pointless. I'm sure the cops are already here. That's when I feel a strong hand wrap around my wrist, pulling me up to my feet. "Erin, come on we have to go. The cops are here." Keaton's voice rings out through the chaos. "Let's go this way." He says, pulling me in the opposite direction of where everyone else is going.

"Wait what about Evan? Did you see Evan anywhere?" I ask trying to see if I can spot him in the crowd of people.

Keaton keeps pulling me until we are outside. "Come on we can get to my car this way." Keaton says trying to pull me towards the gate at the side of the house.

"Keaton wait." I practically yell looking back at the house. "We can't just leave Evan, he's still in there." I say pulling my arm free from his hold.

Keaton turns around giving me a strange look. "Evan left with Kandra when the cops showed up."

I frown. Evan wouldn't just leave me here. "Evan wouldn't just leave me here." I say looking back at the house.

Keaton gives me an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry Erin, but he left with her. I was with them when the cops showed up. He grabbed Kandra and ran out the door. I stayed to make sure you got out."

I just can't believe Evan left me here. I didn't even want to be at this stupid party and then he was just going to let me get in trouble for being here with a bunch of drunk teenagers. "I just can't believe he left me."

Keaton grabs my wrist and starts pulling me again. My feet move on their own. This is the first time Evan has ever chose anyone over me. Especially a girl at some party. I just can't believe he would do that to me. What if I had gotten in trouble, then what?

We make it to Keaton's car within a couple of minutes. He parked way down the block, I guess in case something like this happened. Keaton opens my door for me, letting me climb in his car before shutting the door behind me. He runs around to the driver's side and gets in.

"Are you okay to drive?" I ask, I'm not sure how much he drank tonight.

Keaton chuckles. "Yes, I'm okay. Are you ready to go home or do you want to see if we can find something to eat somewhere?"

"If you're hungry we can go get some food, I didn't really eat much today and you know I'm always starving." I say, glancing over at him.

"Me too. Let's go get some food." He says pulling away from the curb. The police lights slowly fade in the distance.

Keaton is gorgeous even in the dim light coming from the dash. I can't help but admire him, he glances over at me and I look away as fast as I can. "Thank you for rescuing me back there." I say as I stare out the window.

Keaton gives me that usual playful smile that he always has. "No problem Erin. I couldn't just leave you in there."

I laugh. "Well you are the only person that was thinking about helping me, that's for sure." I say feeling a little mad that Evan literally just left me there.

Keaton laughs. "I got you." He says winking at me and I feel my cheeks heat up a little. Thank goodness it's dark in here, hopefully he can't see how red my cheeks turned.

We drive for about fifteen minutes, just laughing and listening to music. Keaton pulls into the only place in this town that stays open all night. Donna's Darling Diner. It's actually one of the only decent places to eat in general.

"Come on, let's go get some food, then I will take you home." Keaton says, patting my thigh before getting out of the car.

I look down at the spot where Keaton touched my thigh, even through my clothes I can feel his heat. His touch set my skin on fire.
