Chapter 96
Lorenzo’s patience was already wearing thin from his prior conversation with the Lycan King. Part of him still didn’t want to believe half of the information that he’d been told. But, in truth what would the King have to gain from lying to him now?
But now it seemed that the alpha had much more distressing matters to deal with. With his hand still clutched around the Prince’s collar, he felt himself on the verge of letting his resolve crumble away completely.
‘I say we tear his throat out,’ his wolf remarked viciously. ‘He’s already caused enough irrevocable damage.’
All too true. Here Lorenzo believed that the Royal Family were the perfect, clean-cut elitists of society. However, between the Prince and the Lycan King, it was clear that even the Royals were too weak to succumb to Blue Moon’s sick, twisted businesses.
Lorenzo suddenly felt the pressure of a hand press over his shoulder. “Lorenzo,” the King spoke softly. “Let him talk.”
It took a pure miracle for him to release the death grip he had on the Prince. But Lorenzo’s eyes never left him. He pointed at one of the chairs and demanded the Prince sit down.
“You’re going to tell me absolutely everything that was said between you and Cruz,” he stated harshly.
For a moment, the Prince resembled a child who’d been scolded for their poor behavior. There was no doubt that the guy was slammed with guilt. Good. If he’d been feeling anything less than guilt, Lorenzo was going to have to break something over his head.
“Talk!” he barked out.
“Well, after you and Eleanor last came here to show my mother that damn list, I knew things weren’t looking too good for me,” the Prince admitted sheepishly. “I called Cruz and told him about what happened.”
‘Ah, so that’s how the asshole knew about us having the flash drive.’
“And what, exactly, did you think calling Cruz was going to do to help you?” Lorenzo snapped. “Did you think he was going to drop everything and rush to your rescue? I told you that he uses that fucking list in order to control people!”
The Prince shot Lorenzo a look of anger. “I was trying to protect my own ass—”
“Yeah? Tell me, how did that work out for you?” His voice was laced with sarcasm. “What else did he tell you?!”
He let out a long breath of defeat. “He said that he would do whatever was necessary to get that flash drive back. I had a feeling that it was going to involve Eleanor. He said that if you weren’t going to settle for any of the deals that he offered, he was going to hit you where it hurt. He said it was going to even the score,” the Prince explained.
“Even the score?” he muttered under his breath in confusion. What the hell was that supposed to mean?
Suddenly, Lorenzo recalled how Eleanor had received that message from Adeline that was considerably strange. His eyes slowly grew wider. Oh my God...
A terrible feeling started to swell within him. It wasn’t a meeting at all...It was a setup.
The Prince, not having any more to say, got up from his seat and attempted to leave the room with a loud huff.
Something dangerous flickered across Lorenzo’s eyes. He snapped his attention to the fleeing Prince and jumped to his feet. March across the room, he once again reached his hand out and hauled the guy back by the neck of his shirt. This time, Lorenzo shoved the Prince against the nearest wall and leaned in to speak harshly into his ear.
His humanity was slipping away the longer he stood there.
“Let me be abundantly clear. When I get through tearing Sterling apart, I will come straight back here. If you are not gone before then, I will make sure that everyone knows about what you did to those girls.”
The Prince tried to speak but was swiftly cut off by the inhuman growl that stormed from Lorenzo’s chest.
From there, he raced out of the palace and whipped out his phone. He called his lead guards and informed them that they were going to need every available person to head to the Blue Moon Pack.
“Eleanor’s been taken,” he said seethingly. “This ends now.”
[Eleanor’s POV]
My vision came in and out of focus for several minutes as I finally started to regain consciousness. Unfortunately, I found myself stuck in a fairly terrifying, yet similar situation once again. Both my hands were bound behind my back and I could hardly see due to the dim lighting above me.
I tried to work the ropes around my wrists and struggled to remain calm. My nerves tensed when a horrible chuckle echoed off the grimly gray walls. I shot my head up and glanced around where I could.
Standing in one of the far corners of the room, was Sterling with his arms folded across his chest. “Well, look who’s finally awake,” Cruz purred with smug delight.
Good God, the man made my skin crawl like nobody’s business. It felt like I was having déjà vu all over again. My lip pulled back into a hateful sneer.
“You’re fucking insane.”
Cruz simply shrugged his shoulders and smiled. “Maybe, but at least I know that Lorenzo will hand over the flash drive now that you’re here,” he said easily.
I felt his perverted eyes rake over me, causing me to shift uncomfortably in the chair I was bound to. He gradually moved closer to me. The muscles in my stomach clenched with both fear and uncertainty.
“But before then, there’s no reason why you and I shouldn’t become better acquainted,” he said roughly.
“Stay away from me!”
Cruz grabbed me by the back of my neck and pulled me close to him. He leaned down, trying to kiss me but I, instead, sank my teeth into his lip. Cruz yanked himself away harshly and sent his hand flying through the air, slapping me across the face.
SLAP!
“When Lorenzo comes here, I’m going to take back my flash drive and I’m going to tear his head off,” he said maliciously. “And then you, my perfect little Luna, are going to be mine.”
The door burst open as a murderous Lorenzo barreled through.
