Chapter 6
"Okay."
After thinking it over carefully, Victoria agreed.
But she never expected to run into Bianca at the location they'd chosen for the clinic—talk about enemies on a narrow road.
"Victoria, what a coincidence," Bianca said, her eyes darting around before showing off: "I have some good news to tell you. I told William about the pregnancy, and he's already preparing a house for me and the baby. You know that villa on Riverside Drive, right? William said I should move in there."
Victoria's expression changed.
The villa on Riverside Drive was where she and William had lived together when he was mentally impaired.
That house was full of memories belonging to the two of them.
She had thought that even if William didn't like her, he would at least treasure their past.
Now it seemed that only she treated their memories as precious.
Someone as proud as William probably saw those years as a stain on his life.
Bianca tilted her head slightly, admiring the changing expressions on Victoria's face, looking more and more pleased with herself.
"I don't really like the decoration style of that house. William said he'd redecorate it for me and even create a nursery. Victoria, you don't mind, do you?"
Victoria clenched her fists, closed her eyes, hiding the bitter feeling inside.
"You don't need to come to me specially to say these things. I've already decided to divorce William. Whatever you two do has nothing to do with me. If you insist on looking for trouble, I don't mind slapping you again."
At this, Bianca blinked innocently.
"You've misunderstood. I'm just sharing my joy with you. Our family is about to have a new member. Aren't you happy?"
Victoria just felt disgusted.
"Get lost."
She was still some distance from Bianca, but Bianca seemed to be pushed by some external force, instantly falling to the ground.
Her pale knee scraped against the rough ground, leaving a bloody mark.
Victoria was used to this kind of scene. She frowned slightly, showing no other emotion.
But somehow a group of reporters appeared out of nowhere, all pointing cameras at her, their faces full of aggression.
"Ms. Ashford, why would you treat your own sister like this? Is it true, as some online rumors say, that you stole your sister's fiancé?"
"Ms. Ashford, can you give a reasonable explanation for what you just did?"
"Do you know that Bianca is Celestria's best ballet performer? Her legs are precious. If she breaks her leg and ruins her career, you'd be bringing shame to the entire country of Celestria."
...
Seeing this, Edward quickly stepped in front of Victoria, his gentle voice tinged with anger.
"As reporters, don't you have any professional ethics? Treating a defenseless ordinary person like this—we have the right to sue you."
Bianca's agent and assistant rushed over and helped her up from the ground.
They were even more difficult to deal with than the unreasonable reporters.
"Victoria, what did Bianca ever do to you? Why would you treat her like this? You used to take her things before, and she never held it against you. I never thought you'd be so excessive now, trying to ruin her performance career."
"Bianca had a very important performance in Lumaria, but she came here specially just to see you, and this is how you treat her."
Bianca's assistant called the police. "Just wait. You'll definitely pay for what you did today."
The police arrived quickly. Looking at Victoria's cold expression, the officer spoke politely.
"Hello, someone reported that you're suspected of intentional assault. Please come with us."
Victoria was taken away by the police, with Edward hurrying after her.
On the way to the police station, Victoria silently looked out the window.
It wasn't that she wasn't panicking—she was just numb.
The police car had just stopped at the station entrance when Victoria heard an angry voice.
"Victoria, you're a grown woman, and we still have to clean up your messes. Your sister is so excellent—if you can't learn from her, fine, but why would you hurt her? I really don't know how I gave birth to something rotten like you."
Emily stormed toward her angrily and raised her hand to slap her without a word, but luckily Edward was quick enough to stop her.
"Victoria is the daughter you carried for ten months and gave birth to. Why would you wrongly accuse her without knowing the facts, siding with outsiders?"
Emily looked Edward up and down and snorted coldly: "No wonder I heard from Bianca that you're finally willing to divorce—turns out you've been seeing another man behind William's back. I don't have a daughter like you."
Meeting her mocking gaze, Victoria suddenly laughed: "That's right. Who told William he's impotent? Who knows whose bastard child Bianca is carrying."
She had already looked into Bianca's records—she wasn't pregnant.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Bianca shrieked.
"Don't you know what I'm talking about? I'm warning you, if you use these dirty tricks again, I'll tell William about this. You should know he hates being manipulated most of all."
Bianca's expression changed.
The chattering voices of the surrounding reporters made her head hurt even more: "All of you shut up!"
Bianca then said to the police: "Officer, my sister didn't mean it. I'm withdrawing the report."
She bit her lip, looking at Victoria with eyes full of malice.
This matter must not get out. William couldn't find out.
Since she couldn't stop Victoria, she might as well make her disappear forever.
Victoria was sent home by Edward.
Edward was somewhat worried about her: "Are you okay? Do you need me to stay?"
"No need. I'm fine here. Don't worry about me—I'm not a child."
After Edward left, Victoria finished cleaning up and was just about to go out to throw away the trash when someone suddenly came up from behind and covered her mouth and nose, while another person tried to lift her into a car.
Victoria struggled and screamed, trying to get someone's attention, but she lived in too remote an area.
Just as she was about to be forced into the car.
The thug dragging her was kicked away by someone.
"Who sent you?"
