Chapter 11

Nick Harold and Owen Harold talked for a long time inside. Marian Reid didn’t rush them at all. She simply told the bodyguards to keep an eye on things and then went back to rest. She didn’t pay any attention to Martha Lambert, who was in the hospital room.

After hearing all those sensational gossip about the wealthy and famous, Martha Lambert couldn’t help but react. No matter how composed she usually was, she still had a woman’s innate curiosity about such things. And since she’d been fed so much juicy gossip today, she didn’t even think about where Marian Reid might be.

Sure enough, wherever there are people, there’s always chaos and drama. I thought the Lambert family was chaotic enough, but it turns out the Harold family isn’t much better—in fact, their situations are even more outrageous and dramatic than those of the Lamberts.

There was a lot to take care of today. Martha Lambert hadn’t fully recovered yet, so she fell asleep quickly. Neither Owen Harold nor Nick Harold knew that they had come to her room after their conversation.

“Should I arrange for a journalist to be there? Then, when you go to pick her up from the hospital tomorrow, you can appear on camera and clarify that nothing happened to you?” Marian Reid turned to ask her son beside her.

Owen Harold’s fingers moved restlessly, as if he was reliving the feel of Martha Lambert’s face in his hands just moments ago.

“Either one is fine, Mom. You decide.” Owen Harold seemed somewhat careless.

“You shouldn’t take it too seriously,” Marian Reid said, implying something behind her words.

Owen Harold smiled, placing his hands on Marian Reid’s shoulders. “Don’t worry, I know how to behave.”

“That’s good. I’ll cook something delicious for you tonight. You’ve looked so tired these past few days…” The voices of the two people faded as the car moved farther away.

When Martha Lambert woke up, she glanced out the window and saw that it was already daylight. Had she slept from afternoon until the next morning?

Martha Lambert was momentarily embarrassed. She couldn’t believe how she could have fallen asleep like that.

“Martha, you’re awake! The doctor said we can be discharged today.” Marian Reid walked over, her face full of joy.

There’s no need to come to the hospital every day. It seems that Owen Harold’s problems have been resolved as well. That means Owen Harold will soon reappear in people’s sight again.

Martha Lambert guessed to herself.

Sure enough, Marian Reid smiled and asked the maid to pack up the belongings. Then she helped Martha Lambert into her wheelchair and wheeled her out of the ward.

As soon as she stepped out of the ward, she saw a handsome man with a slender waist, long legs, and broad shoulders standing in the hallway, waiting for Martha Lambert. Wasn’t that Owen Harold himself?

A few nurses stood nearby, excitedly discussing Owen Harold’s good looks.

Heh, he still has six well-defined abdominal muscles. They’re quite pleasant to touch. His physical strength and skills are also pretty good. Martha Lambert thought to herself. Then, she realized she was thinking about things that couldn’t be described in words. For a moment, her face felt a little hot.

Martha Lambert quickly slapped her own face with her hands, trying to calm herself down.

Standing not far away, Owen Harold watched Martha Lambert’s little antics and couldn’t help but laugh. She was quite cute. Much more likable than the fake mask she wore when they first met.

Marian Reid, who had been watching the two of them, grew solemn for a moment, but quickly hid her emotions. Then she urged Owen Harold, “What are you still doing here? Hurry and get Martha out of there.”

Owen Harold nodded, took the wheelchair from the bodyguard, and pushed it while saying to Martha Lambert, “If anyone asks you anything later, and you don’t want to answer, just say ‘It’s none of your business.’ I’ll handle it.”

“Hmm?” Martha Lambert was a bit confused, seemingly unable to understand why Owen Harold said what he did.

“You little fool, just do as I say.” Owen Harold messed with Martha Lambert’s hair with his hand, then pushed her wheelchair out without any explanation.

Behind them, Marian Reid watched the interaction between the two people, feeling increasingly uneasy. Could it really be as she thought?

Before Martha Lambert could figure out what Owen Harold had said and done just now, they had already arrived outside the hospital. Now, there was no need for Martha Lambert to think about it anymore—the situation on the scene made everything clear to her.

A whole bunch of journalists were just sitting around doing nothing, chatting about gossip with each other. It was even possible to see reporters from different newspapers talking together. The whole scene was extremely harmonious.

But in the next moment, when you saw Owen Harold and the others coming out, everyone rushed over. People were pushing each other around—there was nothing left of the friendly atmosphere from earlier.

“Mr. Harold, I’ve heard rumors that your elder brother is to blame for your injuries. Is that true?”

“Mr. Harold, Nick Harold, the chairman of the Harold Family Group, has announced that he’s cutting ties with his eldest son, Marcus Harold. Could you be behind that, somehow?”

“Mr. Harold, may I ask what your relationship is with the lady you’re accompanying? Are you two dating? Or have you even planned to get married?”

“Mr. Harold…”

“Mr. Harold…”

The reporters immediately surrounded Owen Harold and Martha Lambert in a circle. Questions bombarded the two of them like shells, and microphones were thrust right at their faces.

Where had Martha Lambert ever seen something like this before? She had always watched those celebrities get surrounded by fans on TV or computer. She never thought it would actually happen to her.

“I just got injured accidentally and need to recover in the hospital. It’s not as serious as everyone thinks. As for what happened to my uncle, I’m not really sure either,” replied Owen Harold.

“Well, Mr. Harold, you…”

Owen Harold raised a few more trivial questions. Finally, to everyone’s surprise, he knelt down on one knee, took Martha Lambert’s face in his hands, and kissed her.

For a moment, not only was Martha Lambert, the person involved in the scene, stunned, but everyone else watching was also shocked. It’s quite rare to see people openly showing affection in front of reporters like that.

Then they realized what was happening, and the flashlights kept flashing non-stop.

“We’re married now. This is my wife, Martha Lambert.” Owen Harold stood up, placed his hand on Martha Lambert’s shoulder, and smiled at them.

The heir to the Harold family got married, and the bride is an unknown person. That’s definitely big news!

The journalists were even more excited, taking photos non-stop. They all wanted to get ahead and ask for more sensational information. It would be even better if they could get some exclusive revelations!

Thinking of this, the journalists worked even harder, trying to secure greater benefits for their respective newspapers.

“Mr. Harold, did you fall in love before getting married, or did you get married first and then fell in love?”

“Mrs. Harold, when did you meet Mr. Harold? Were you somehow forced Mr. Harold into marrying you?”

“Mrs. Harold, what are your thoughts about marrying Mr. Harold?”

Martha Lambert felt a bit awkward. Why had she suddenly become the one being questioned? Weren’t they supposed to be targeting Owen Harold all along?

“I’m sorry, she hasn’t fully recovered yet. I’ll take her back first,” Owen Harold replied for Martha Lambert.

Marian Reid thought it was about time. All the information that needed to be revealed had been disclosed. She signaled her bodyguards to block the reporters, so that Owen Harold and the others could leave.

“Sorry, sorry, that’s the end of the interview.”
