Emeli’s eyes widened instantly. Her hand reflexively rose, touching her neck as Aric pointed at it.

“What happened to your neck?” Aric asked again.

“O-oh… this?” Emeli let out a small laugh, sounding forced. “Earlier… I think I got bitten by a mosquito. It’s been really itchy.”
