Chapter 3 Three
"How could you Lilly?" Eric feels enraged as Dave holds Lilly’s hand and leaves the hall.
Three years ago, he never meant to leave her, he loved her deeply and still love her.
If he had not realized on his eighteenth birthday that he was born a werewolf, if his father had not kept it so well from him and he had no clue until he shapeshifted that day and realized he was different from Lilly, maybe they will still be together.
That night three years ago, Eric was turning eighteen, looking at him, one will think he is over eighteen.
He looks more mature than his age, not only in stature but in understanding and character, he is knowledgeable and good in every other thing.
He is called the good kid, he is not only knowledgeable but good looking too, handsome with long dark hair and blue eye balls, he always put on smiling face which attract all girls to him, but there is only one girl which he has eyes for, Lilly.
Lilly and Eric met in high school and from there, they became friends, Eric ask Lilly out as he already fell in love with her.
In their last year in high school, they spent most of their time together professing their love for each other.
Almost everyone in their school knew the two are couple, graduating together with the plan to attend the same university was a dream come true when they were both accepted into the same as they already have plans for their future together.
On Eric’s eighteen birthday, he already had plans with Lilly for the night, but before that, his father had organized a birthday party for him.
He wanted to invite Lilly and his friends to the party but his father forbids him, telling him the party is a family thing.
Since he already had a plan to spend the rest of the night with Lilly, he quickly wants to get over the family birthday celebration and meet with Lilly.
Ever since Eric’s mother died, his father is the only family which he had. Eric only knows about his father being a business man but he did not know what type of business his father does and why he had so many workers.
“Dad, why isn’t the party starting yet?”
Eric could no longer wait as the party seems to be taking longer than expected. He wanted to quickly meet with Lilly to celebrate with her.
“Son, today is the full moon, we have to wait for the full moon to start the celebration” his father replied without looking at him while busy on his phone.
“What do you mean by waiting for the full moon? What does the full moon have to do with my birthday celebration?”
Eric smirk softly, he wonders what type of joke his father his making.
“It has everything to do with the celebration. Now that you are old, you should know and understands what your real identity is” his father looks to him now.
“Real identity! What does that mean?” he looks confused.
He knew who is father is and his father already told him about his mother, he wonders what his father meant by his real identity.
“You have to wait for the full moon to understand who you are and what you are capable of.”
His father left him thinking, he texted Lilly telling him he will be late for their meeting.
Eric waited for his father’s return while watching the sky to know when the full moon will be out, he wouldn’t believe the full moon had anything to do with his identity but he actually finds himself looking at the sky.
He sighs, already getting annoy with the fact that his father wouldn’t let him meet with Lilly, he stands up to leave regardless, but his father’s voice cut through him.
“Son!”
Eric turns towards his father who was standing in veranda of the big Dallas’ mansion.
“Come here, the full moon is about to come out” he tells him.
Eric smirked angrily, he has never argued with his father before and he did not want tonight to be the first time.
He grudgingly walks to the veranda to meet with his father; he stares at his father who fixes his gaze on the sky.
Eric wonders what importance the full moon had with him or his birthday, but as the moon was at it full, without a warning Eric felt a deep aches in his chest, a burning, twisting sensation which he had never felt before.
He holds his chest unable to breathe properly, he falls to his knees knocking over the tree in the veranda, his muscles spasming as if he was going to tear apart.
“Dad, what is happening to me?” he manages to say, but he could see that his father was experiencing the same thing.
Bones cracking and reshaping, his hands stretch into clawed, furred paws.
His breathing hastened; his vision heightened.
His transformation fully happened, Eric could see his own reflection in the glass window beside him, he was so shocked to see a monstrous, unfamiliar face, amber eye balls staring back at him, his body full of thick brown furs.
Eric looks frightened seeing himself, he suddenly growls, not entirely human but beast.
“Dad...” he stutters looking frightened.
“What...what...am I? what are we?” he could see that he was not the only one like that, his father too.
“Son, you are my son” his father moves close to him.
“But entirely different from whatever you had known. This is in our blood; we are powerful and supernatural beings; this is your real identity” his father replies.
“I... I don’t understand.” Eric couldn’t comprehend what his father was saying.
“I kept it from you all these years to protect you and let you live freely because you lost your mother before you even met with her” his voice filled with guilt.
“But what is this?” he wonders what kind of creature they are.
“We are werewolves.”
Eric could not bring himself to come in terms with who he was before now and what he is now, his mind spins between rage, confusion and fear.
He feared the person he has become, but his fear intensified when he thought of Lilly.
He had promise to spend the night with Lilly, but how could he do that now, he wasn’t even sure he could still be with her.
After the whole thing subsided, Eric sits in a corner of his room quietly curling up in fear, he had not expected any of these, his father indeed kept it well for him.
Now he knew why his father will send him away every month.
He hates himself and his new identity.
That night those whom he had thought were his father’s workers were introduced to him as his pack members and his father as the Alpha of the silver-belt pack.
Everything was explained to him but he could still now understand why such thing will happened to him, he was afraid to use his phone, talk more of talking to Lilly who kept calling and texting him.
After sulking for some time, Eric stands up to meet with his father to get more explaining, but then he overheard his father’s conversation with one of the pack members.
“I will have to separate him from that Lilly girl, she cannot know of his real identity, if it is necessary, you can kill her.”
Eric looks so shocked and secretly went back to his room fidgeting.
“They were also planning to kill Lilly if she ever knows about my real identity.”
He murmurs fearfully.
Being young, Eric wanted to protect Lilly, he immediately left for abroad without contacting
Lilly out of fear and only left a short text message for her.
