Chapter 5 Five
Dave had asked Lilly to go stay at a nearby café then he walked to Lilly, Lilly who stood up immediately looking worried.
"Dave, are you okay?" She looks so worried.
"Umm..." she checked him out but he seems okay.
"Will you like a cup of coffee?" Dave could see the uneasiness in Lilly.
She forced a smile and nods.
Lilly's hands trembled as she held the coffee cup, her eyes fixed on Dave's across the table.
They were sitting in a quiet café, the soft hum of conversation and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air.
Dave's eyes were warm and gentle, his smile soft as he reached out to cover her hand with his.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Lilly took a deep breath, her heart heavy with guilt.
She had been using Dave to get back at Eric, to make him jealous, to prove to herself that she was over him.
But the truth was, she wasn't over Eric, she still loved him, despite everything he had done to her.
"Dave, I need to tell you something," Lilly said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Dave's eyes narrowed, his expression concerned.
"What is it?"
Lilly took another deep breath, her words tumbling out in a rush.
"I used you, Dave. I'm so sorry. I was hurt and angry, and I wanted to get back at Eric. I didn't mean to hurt you, but I think I did."
Dave's face fell, he wasn't surprised, he knew from the start.
But then, his expression changed, and he looked at her with a fierce determination.
"I don't care why you started this, Lilly," Dave said, his voice etched with anger.
"But I care about what's happening between us now. I care about the way I feel when I'm with you. And I'm not willing to let you go without a fight."
Dave knew he was lying to her, but he needed her to claim dominion in New-York city.
The moment Lilly kissed him, and he caught a glimpse of her secretly looking at Eric, he knew she must have approach him because of Eric.
Dave already knows about Eric, the new Alpha of Silver-belt pack, though Eric don’t know him.
Realizing Lilly must be Eric’s is her ex-girlfriend, he decides to play along with her and did all that he did, protecting her from Sofia to gain her over.
Lilly's eyes widened in shock; she hadn't expected Dave to react like that
"What do you mean?" she asked.
Dave's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze burning with intensity.
"I mean that I want to win your heart, Lilly. I want to prove to you that I'm the one who deserves your love. So, I'll ask you: what's the price of winning your heart?"
He was looking for a way to get back at him Eric for accusing his pack of killing his father.
Now he knew how to get back at him; Lilly!
Lilly's heart skipped a beat.
No one had ever asked her that before, no one had ever been so bold to ask her for a relationship after Eric left her.
Dave looks so confident and his eyes are filled with sincerity.
“Could he be lying to me?”
She knows who Dave his, the popular basketball player, all girls in campus wanted. She believes there is no way he will be sincere with someone like her who doesn’t have any popularity.
But either way, she likes it.
"I... I don't know," she stuttered.
Dave's smile faintly.
"Then let me make you a deal. Let me show you what it means to be loved, to be cherished, to be adored. Let me prove to you that I'm the one who can make you happy. And if, after all that, you still want to go back to Eric, then I'll let you go." His eyes not leaving hers.
Lilly's mind was unsettled, she hadn't expected Dave to be so passionate, so determined.
“Did he want me to be one of his numerous girl playmates?”
It is a known thing that Dave is a professional playboy.
A part of her, a small part, was tempted to take him up on his offer.
Dave is a popular guy in her campus and also handsome.
But another part of her, a bigger part, was still tied to Eric, she still loved him, despite everything.
Lilly hesitated, her mind racing with thoughts.
A part of her was tempted to take Dave up on his offer, to see if he could truly make her happy, but another part of her, a more calculating part, saw an opportunity.
She thought about how much more jealous Eric would be if she could date Dave, especially now that his back.
She thought about how much more Eric would likely want to crawl back to her if he saw her with someone else.
And so, with a sly smile, Lilly proposed a deal to Dave.
"I'll accept your offer, but not because I'm interested in a real relationship with you. At least, not yet."
Dave's eyes narrowed, he look at her carefully.
"What do you mean?"
Lilly leaned in.
"Let’s have a fake relationship.”
Her eyes sparkling.
“But want it to be more dramatic. I want to go on fake dates with you, just to make Eric more jealous.”
Dave's eyes widened in surprise, he hadn’t expected that, but then a slow smile spread across his face.
"I like the way you think, Lilly. But I have one condition: I want to make it more interesting. I want to compete with Eric for your attention, to see who can make you happier."
Lilly's heart skipped a beat.
She hadn't expected Dave to be so willing to play along, or to be so competitive. But she was glad he was, because it would make the game so much more fun.
"Deal," she said, extending her hand.
Dave took it, his handshake firm.
"Deal. But don't expect me to go easy on you, Lilly. I'm going to make sure you have the best fake relationship experience ever and I'm going to make sure Eric regrets ever letting you go."
Lilly’s heart thumps within her, she smiles secretly.
Who would have known, she will have fake dates with Dave, the popular basketball player in a time like this?
Lilly feels excited about the whole thing.
Dave already stands up for her at the fresher’s party, so it will not be difficult to convince everyone that she is with Dave now.
It was going to be fun being Dave’s new girlfriend.
