Chapter 6 Chapter 6

KENDRIC’S POV

I woke up sitting on the edge of Ansel’s bed with my head in my hands, waiting for my brain to clear.

I looked over my shoulder to look at Ansel who was completely out and wrapped up in the sheets. His skin was flushed with a leftover fever, his silver hair messy against the pillow, and his throat was covered in hickeys.

“I shouldn't have left it on visible parts,” I muttered.

Ignoring the fact that I slept with the one person I detest, if anyone walked in here, it would be hard to deal with.

As someone who had plenty of secrets, I knew more than anyone else that he'd want to keep this hidden from anyone else.

“Well, it's not like I'm doing this necessarily for him,” I said as I opened the windows. It would be problematic if anyone walked in on us and my father got word of this. That would be too much work.

I thought after going at it all night, I'd be satisfied but turns out my dick has other plans.

“You really have to act up first time in the morning, don't you?” I looked down at my booner. And no, it wasn't just the usual morning wood, I was actually turned on right now.

In my defense, the entire apartment was drenched in his pheromones and the pheromones of an Omega in heat at that.

“I can't help that his pheromones are truly intoxicating,” I muttered to myself.

I had my bath and dealt with my booner in the bathroom before coming out. Somehow, he was still fast asleep. “He hasn't died, has he?”

I went over to him to confirm that he was still breathing before grabbing his phone. Though his heat had been subdued due to the sex we had last night, he's still has a high fever and will need meds if he doesn't want to be caught.

“I have zero idea how to take care of an Omega,” I muttered as I pressed his thumb against his phone to unlock it. “Not that I would take care of him even if I could.”

After scrolling for a while, I found the name I was looking for—Zora. He'd even saved it with heart emojis.

“So fucking childish,” I rolled my eyes. He could have just asked his girlfriend for help instead of getting laid by the one person he hates. “Is he some kinda prude or conservative?”

Either way, I put a call across to Zora who picked up on the second ring. Talk about reliable.

“Ansel? You don't usually call this early, did something happen?” She bombarded him or rather me with questions.

“He’s sleeping in our dorm room,” I answered.

The line went totally quiet for a second. "Kendric? Why do you have Ansel's phone?"

“We're roommates for Pete's sake,” I groaned, though she had a point. Ansel would never let me get into his space, much less use his phone. Not like he allowed me to use it this time. “I'm not here to argue with you, I just need you to come get Ansel.”

“What? Did something actually happen to him?” She sounded panicked.

“He's having a bit of a medical emergency and is completely out of it, you will need to come get him,” I briefly explained.

“You could have told me the moment you noticed!” She raised her voice slightly.

“I'm not his caregiver, so don't get on my damn nerves,” I said hanging up on her. I'd already done enough and yet she still had the effrontery to criticize me?

Twenty minutes later, the front door slammed open. I was already out in the living room, fully dressed in a clean hoodie, trying to look like I’d just been chilling on the couch.

Zora marched in looking ready to murder someone. She’s hated me since freshman year, but right now, she looked even more hateful.

“Don't you ever get tired of glaring at me?” I sighed as I relaxed into the couch better.

“That's like asking if I get tired of blinking,” she rolled her eyes. "Where is he?" she demanded.

I pointed toward Ansel’s room. "In there."

She walked past me and pushed open his door. I stood up and followed her, leaning against the doorframe with my arms crossed to keep up appearances.

Zora dropped to her knees by the bed, pressing her hand to Ansel’s forehead. He let out a weak groan, his eyes fluttering but not really opening.

Zora looked from the window back to me, her eyes narrowing into slits. She was obviously aware of Ansel's secondary gender and would of course be suspicious of me.

“Did you do anything stupid to him?” Zora asked, her fist clenching.

“It depends on your definition of stupid, to be honest,” I answered dryly, yawning while I was at it.

“I'm being a hundred percent serious, Kendric,” She stood up this time.

"Do something to him? Please," I scoffed. "I have better things to do. Coach benched me for my shoulder, so I came back to the dorm to rest. I heard him groaning through the wall and found him sweating through his sheets. If anything, you should be thanking me for calling you."

Zora stared at me, trying to see through the lie. She obviously didn't believe a word, but she didn't have any proof, and Ansel wasn't in any state to talk.

"If I find out you're lying," she whispered, "I will personally make sure you never walk onto a football field again."

"Yeah, whatever. Betas aren't my type,” I found myself lying to Zora or rather giving her the impression that I still wasn't aware of his secondary gender. “You can threaten me later, so just get him out of here. His face was annoying enough, I don't want to entertain your face as well.”

Zora turned away, grabbing Ansel’s winter coat from the closet. She wrapped it around him and helped him sit up. He was basically dead weight, his head leaning against her shoulder as she hauled him out of bed. It was weird seeing him look so small, considering how much space his attitude usually took up.

I just stood there and watched as she dragged him out of the bedroom, through the common area, and out the front door, slamming it behind them.

I convinced myself that I was glad they were gone but I couldn't get the image of how hot he was when he spread his legs for me.

“I definitely have lost it.”
