Chapter 5 Void Beast Tamer
“No way... my Shadow Wolf..." Jax collapsed to the ground, breathing hard as he stared blankly at the remains of his world, shattered in an instant. The man who had been laughing arrogantly at Killian's suffering just minutes ago was now nothing more than a broken lump of flesh stripped of all dignity.
Killian walked toward the bear’s corpse, ignoring the trembling Jax. He pulled a small, dull hunting knife from his waist. Through the Eyes of Evolution, he saw a glowing point in the center of the creature’s chest.
[Harvesting target: Iron-Claw Bear Core (Bronze Grade)]
[Quality: Pure]
[Suggestion: Use to strengthen Giz’s energy foundation]
Killian drove the knife into the monster’s chest. Even though the blade was dull, the energy flowing from his hand allowed it to pierce the creature’s hide effortlessly. He reached inside and pulled out a brownish-gold crystal pulsing with earth energy.
“A pure-grade core crystal...” Vax muttered, his eyes gleaming with greed. A crystal like that could sell for thousands of gold coins on the black market, enough to buy high-level combat equipment. “Moretti, listen to me. We can forget what happened earlier. If you hand over that crystal and rejoin the team, I’ll make sure you get the vice captain position. You won’t have to live as trash anymore.”
Killian raised the crystal before his eyes, staring at the reflection of his blood-covered yet powerful self. He glanced at Vax from the corner of his eye.
“Vice captain?” Killian smiled viciously. “Vax, you still don’t get it, do you? I don’t need recognition from people like you. The world has already changed, and all of you are just remnants of the old order waiting to collapse.”
“You’re rejecting an offer from a regional ruler?” Vax clenched his jaw, his aura beginning to flare. As a Gold-rank Tamer, his physical strength far surpassed that of ordinary humans. “Don’t think that just because you have one strange Pet, you can look down on the Valtor family and its network. You’re only one man, Moretti. We have thousands of soldiers.”
“Then bring those thousands to me,” Killian replied calmly. He slipped the crystal into his pocket and gestured toward Giz. “I’ll make sure every last one of them becomes nourishment for Giz’s next evolution.”
Killian walked toward the exit hole, passing Vax and Jax as though they were nothing more than dust on the road. This newfound confidence felt intoxicating. He no longer felt like a rat hiding behind walls. He felt like a dragon that had just shattered its shell.
“You won’t leave here alive, Moretti!” Jax shouted from behind as he struggled to rise. “I’ll report you as a traitor! The entire city will hunt you down!”
Killian stopped for a moment but did not turn around. “Go ahead. Tell them Killian Moretti died in this pit. And the thing walking out now... is something far worse.”
Suddenly, a deafening System alarm echoed throughout the area, including the communication devices carried by Vax and Jax.
[Global Warning: Catastrophe-Level Anomaly Detected]
[System Status: Disrupted by Void Energy]
[Instruction: All Tamers in Zone 4 must evacuate immediately]
[Threat Level: Black]
Vax’s face turned deathly pale. “Black threat level? That... that only happens when a God or an entity from another dimension enters! Impossible...”
Vax looked toward Killian, then at Giz, whose purple aura was growing denser as the System alarm continued to blare. Realization slowly crept into his mind. The anomaly the System was referring to... was him? The young man they had thrown away was a world-level threat?
“Let’s go, Giz,” Killian said, his voice swallowed by the echoing alarm. “Time to find bigger prey.”
Killian leaped agilely, using the protruding walls to reach the hole in the ceiling. His physical abilities had been enhanced through synchronization with Giz. Within a few movements, he disappeared from Vax and Jax’s sight, leaving them behind in the darkness of the tunnel that now felt like hell itself.
Vax dropped to his knees, his hands trembling. He stared at the shattered corpses of the bear and wolf. “What have we done... we just created a monster that’s going to devour us all.”
Outside, the sky had become completely dark, but not because of nightfall. Spiral-shaped black clouds were beginning to form above the city, rotating around the point where Killian had emerged. Killian’s Eyes of Evolution glowed brightly in the darkness, seeing thousands of intersecting energy pathways across the sky.
He stood atop the ruins of a tall building, gazing toward the distant city lights. Over there, the elite families, conglomerates, and System rulers were feasting, unaware that their retribution had just been born.
Killian pulled out the bear core crystal and crushed it in his hand. The brownish-gold energy was absorbed into both his body and Giz, filling them with a pleasant sensation of heat.
“This is only the beginning, Giz,” Killian whispered, his eyes locked on the massive central System tower rising from the heart of the city. “They gave us an apocalypse, so we’ll give them an evolution that destroys everything.”
Giz released a low roar that sounded like thunder from another dimension. Below them, hordes of monsters began emerging from the darkness, but instead of attacking Killian, they retreated in fear.
Killian stepped toward the edge of the building, ready to dive into the chaos of the new world. But just before his foot moved forward, a blood-red notification suddenly flared into existence before his eyes, unlike any he had seen before. The notification carried a pressure so overwhelming that the surrounding atmosphere instantly grew heavy.
[Warning: System Master has locked onto your coordinates]
[‘Error Cleansing’ Protocol Initiated]
[Time Remaining Until Orbital Strike: 60 Seconds]
Killian narrowed his eyes, spotting an intensely bright blue point of light descending from the sky toward his position at the speed of light.
Die in one minute, or overturn the laws of the world.
“Trying to erase me this quickly?” Killian smiled coldly, with no intention of running. “Let’s see how powerful your ‘eraser’ really is, creator of this rotten world.”
