Chapter 9 The Rise of the Void Empire
"Killian Moretti! You are charged with the murder of official security personnel and the kidnapping of Bianca Valenti! Surrender now, or we will open fire with annihilation weapons!"
The mercenary leader who had been knocked to the ground burst into laughter, blood spilling from his mouth.
"You hear that? The City Guard is here! You're finished, Moretti!"
Killian looked up at the helicopter hovering above them. He could see the muzzle of an energy cannon beginning to glow, preparing to fire on him.
"Bianca," Killian called without taking his eyes off the sky.
"Yes?"
"How quickly can you map this city's underground routes if I give you access to illegal satellite data?"
Bianca blinked, her strategic mind immediately kicking into gear despite the pressure.
"If I have the data, I can find an escape route in less than thirty seconds."
"Good. Hold on to my shoulder."
"What? What are you going to do?"
"We're about to show them that the sky no longer belongs to them." Killian grinned. "Giz, Void Burst: Maximum Output!"
Giz crawled onto Killian's palm. The little creature began radiating a purple light so brilliant that it rivaled the helicopter's searchlights overhead. The air around them started to twist violently, creating a black vortex that shredded the shipping containers surrounding them.
"Fire! Fire now!" the commander inside the helicopter shouted.
A pillar of blue energy shot down from the helicopter's cannon, striking Killian's position directly. A massive explosion erupted, sending a towering cloud of dust and flames into the sky. The entire alley shook violently, causing sections of the surrounding concrete walls to collapse.
Thick smoke engulfed the area. The mercenary leader smiled in satisfaction, convinced that his enemy had been reduced to dust. But as the smoke began to clear, his smile vanished. At the center of the crater, there was no human body. There was only a purple spatial fracture, slowly sealing itself shut.
"They... disappeared?" the leader muttered in disbelief.
Suddenly, a voice sounded directly beside his ear. Cold. Sharp. Reeking of death.
"Looking for me?"
The man spun around instantly, but it was already too late. Killian stood there, carrying Bianca in one arm while his other hand gripped the man's head.
"You said you wanted a quick death for her, right?" Killian whispered in a voice that sounded disturbingly friendly. "Unfortunately, I'm not that merciful."
Killian tightened his grip. Dense void energy seeped into the man's skull, erasing his existence not only physically, but as though he had never existed in the world's timeline at all. The man vanished before he could even release a single scream. Killian brushed the remaining dust from his hand and looked at Bianca, who was still in his embrace. The woman stared at him with an overwhelming mixture of fear and admiration.
"Now," Killian said as he gently set her down, "show me where your hideout is. We have a lot to discuss."
Bianca steadied her ragged breathing. She glanced up at the sky, where the helicopter was still searching the explosion crater, completely unaware that its prey had already moved far behind its defensive perimeter.
"Follow me," Bianca said, her voice much steadier now. "My father has an old bunker beneath District Nine. The System can't track it because it uses analog shielding."
"A smart choice," Killian praised.
As they began moving away from the battlefield, Killian felt his Evolution Eye pulse more intensely than ever before. A new notification appeared before his vision, glowing with an intense blood-red color.
[Warning: The Anomaly's Presence Has Attracted the Attention of 'The Prime Chaos Weaver']
[Status: Observing]
[Global System Threat Level: Increased to Level 2]
Killian ignored the notification and kept walking.
He knew that his actions tonight had triggered something far greater than a conflict with a local gang. He had declared war on the world's established order. And he had just acquired his strongest chess piece. They slipped past low-flying robotic patrols. Bianca led with remarkable agility, using every shadowed corner and drainage pipe to avoid detection. Killian followed behind, allowing Giz to monitor the surrounding area with its void sensory aura.
"We're almost there," Bianca whispered as they reached a manhole cover hidden beneath a pile of discarded tires.
She slid the cover aside, revealing an iron ladder descending into the darkness below. Bianca climbed down first, followed by Killian. As the manhole cover closed above them, silence settled over the passage, broken only by the distant sound of dripping water. Inside the dimly lit bunker, Bianca switched on several emergency lamps. The room was filled with old bookshelves, physical maps, and ancient computer equipment that still functioned.
"Welcome to the remnants of the Valenti Empire," Bianca said as she sat in an old chair, looking utterly exhausted.
Killian placed Giz on the large wooden table at the center of the room. His golden eyes scanned the entire bunker, satisfied with its security.
"This is the perfect place to begin."
"Begin what, Killian?" Bianca stared deeply into his eyes. "You keep talking about an empire, about changing fate. But you're just one man with one strange Pet. How can you fight a world controlled by System Masters?"
"Because the System itself is a lie, Bianca," Killian replied flatly. "It gives us power only to keep us controlled. It creates hierarchies so we destroy one another. But my eyes... my eyes can see paths they never wanted us to know existed."
"I can evolve anything, Bianca. Not just living creatures, but situations, powers, and even destiny itself. With your strategic mind and my evolutionary power, we won't just survive. We will become the rulers of the void that will consume this old world."
Bianca fell silent for a long time, weighing every word that left Killian's mouth. She remembered how her family had been betrayed by those they had considered allies. She remembered how the people who once praised her now spat at her name.
"I need one thing from you before I swear my loyalty," Bianca said, her voice now cold and sharp.
"What is it?"
"A promise that you'll never become like them."
Bianca stood, her eyes locked onto Killian's.
"Promise me that you won't become a tyrant who cares only about numbers and power."
Killian looked at her for a moment. Then a faint smile appeared on his face, a smile that somehow felt both sincere and deeply sad.
"I can't promise that, Bianca. Because to destroy monsters, I may have to become something worse than a monster myself."
Bianca closed her eyes and took a long breath. She knew the answer was honest. And it was that honesty that made her decision.
"Then let me be the heart that reminds you when you've gone too far into the darkness."
Bianca extended her hand.
"I'm in, Killian Moretti. Let's burn this world down and see what grows from its ashes."
Killian took her hand. A bond of blood and ambition was officially forged within that dark bunker. But their silence did not last long. A burst of static suddenly crackled from one of the ancient computer monitors in the corner of the room. A logo appeared on the screen. A logo that was extremely familiar to Killian. The very same logo that had appeared within his Evolution Eye when he had nearly died in the cave.

[Message: The Anomaly has found its Companion. The real game begins now. Good luck, Killian... before the Creator comes to claim you.]
BOOM!
The monitor exploded instantly, spraying sparks and black smoke into the air. It left Killian and Bianca standing in a darkness far deeper and more oppressive than before. In that moment, they knew. The Creator had become aware of their existence. And the countdown to death had begun.
