Chapter 187

Arthur’s lips lingered at the center of my chest before drifting along my collarbone, softly nipping and kissing an invisible trail.

My body both melted and tried to push further into his touch. Several soft noises slipped from the back of my throat as his hands came upon my breasts. The pad of his thumb circled over my nipples, making them grow stiff.

My hands came up to grasp at his arms. A searing heat spread throughout my chest and slowly descended south. Arthur continued to nip, lick, and kiss his way down my front.

“You’re so perfect,” he said breathlessly.

My heart slammed frantically in my chest as I felt his fingers play at the waistband of my underwear. He stopped for a brief moment, waiting for me to give my approval.

“Yes,” I gasped.

He snarled and groaned as he dipped his fingers beneath the thin material and sought out the heat between my thighs. My lips trembled and gaped as he stroked the wet folds of my center.

The corner of his mouth curved upward into a knowing smile as he bent down to capture my lips once more in a deep kiss.

“So fucking wet,” he hummed. “My perfect mate.”

My back arched off the bed when his thumb circled my clit. A guttural moan tore from my throat upon feeling two of his fingers sink into me. Slowly, with a deep push of his hand, he steadily drove them in and out.

The heat beneath my stomach was rising. The moment he slightly crooked his fingers, Arthur began brushing against a whole new set of nerves within me.

“Oh my God,” I cried out. “D-Don’t stop.”

He kissed along my jaw and down the curve of my neck, driving me closer to the edge. My body was buzzing. He pressed the heel of his palm back to my clit and sent me clear over the edge. My vision blurred as my muscles clenched and spasmed uncontrollably.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A sharp gasp flew out of my mouth. I snapped my head toward the door and then back at Arthur who appeared just as bewildered as me.

“Ella? Arthur?” a soft voice called from the other side. “It’s me, Bonnie. I think I found something you guys should see. It may involve your bond.”

...

[Arthur’s POV]

After making a quick work of our clothes, Ella and I headed next door to see what Bonnie had found. Did I really think it was important enough to have interrupted my beautiful morning with my mate?

No.

But where Ella was concerned, I followed along. Bonnie looked a cross between excited and mildly terrified. I made a quick move to text Liam and have him meet us. If whatever it was that Bonnie needed to show us involved our bond then he needed to be a part of it too.

Once Liam joined us, we all gave Bonnie our full attention.

“Alright, Bonnie. What is it?” Ella asked.

“Okay, now, don’t be mad,” Bonnie said meekly. “I didn’t tell anyone about your double bond; however, I couldn’t get it out of my head and decided to do a little searching around.”

My brows pulled together. “What do you mean?”

She went over to her desk to pick up a large-looking book. “It’s one of the texts I need for my Ancient Myths and Tribes class,” she explained. “As you well know, you’re not the only ones who have ever had this unique bond. It’s been recurring throughout time, all around the world. And in different packs, with their own specific cultures, it always has a different meaning and purpose.”

Since Ella, essentially, originated from the Moon Wolf Pack and, in theory, possessed the ability to elevate an Alpha’s status...Would that mean that she had the ability to enhance both Liam and myself?

Why would I have thought that it would affect only one of us? Maybe it’s because a power like that has only been bestowed upon one person.

This single thought sent my mind spiraling down a rabbit hole. The Winslows sent out the order to massacre every last Moon Wolf for fear of a single Enigma being made...What the hell were they going to do about two?

“So, because there are technically three,” Ella began. “What are these roles in this sort of dynamic?”

“Whether it be two females to one male or two males to one female, there’s this balance that’s kept. A light and a darkness to compliment it. In other words, one half of the bond may have a gentler way of doing things while the other tends to be more commanding or forceful. They keep the balance and order of things for their counterpart and those around them.”

I failed to hold back the snort that came from my chest.

“Well, I can easily guarantee you all that I’m the darker half of the bond, mainly by his behavior.”

Ella smiled and playfully shoved at my shoulder while Liam chuckled and rolled his eyes.

But all joking aside, part of me was rather serious.

I knew based on my upbringing and natural demeanor, that I was considerably darker than Liam. Whenever it came to making a plan of sorts, my immediate thoughts always pertained to cheating, malicious undermining, and brutish force.

Liam was an honest, and decent person. He was probably raised in a loving, safe environment. I suppose part of me was always a bit jealous of Liam in that regard. My father wanted nothing to do with me on a regular basis and the only time my mother paid any attention to me was when it somehow pertained to her.

“Now, here’s where things get interesting...You know I don’t mean to pry, but there’s a reason why these bonds are so rare. Think of them as astrological happenings. When they occur, a lot of people tend to take notice of them and usually pay tribute to them in hopes for a beneficial future.”

“Are you saying that our bond is going to impact society?” Ella asked.

“It could. Some will see it as a prosperous miracle, an exciting opportunity for change. While others who currently hold power, will it be seen as a threat.”

I felt Liam go completely tense at my side, whereas Ella’s eyes widened in silent fear.

“And, exactly how were these threats dealt with?” I questioned timidly.

Bonnie merely shrugged and tried flipping through her book for a clear, direct answer but seemed to be coming up short.

“Um, well...I suppose the most extreme would be something along the lines of death,” she squeaked.

Ella let out a long sigh and rubbed her temples. “Of course,” she muttered.

Instinctively, Liam and I reached for her. Just then, Bonnie’s cheeks flared up and her mouth coiled into a silly smile.

“I’m sorry, but you guys are so cute!”

Liam lightly scoffed. “So, this ‘prophecy’...When would it technically come to fruition?”

“Wouldn’t it happen once all three of us would be bonded?” Ella suggested.

Bonnie rolled her shoulders back. “It’s as good as any guess, I suppose. You have to understand, a lot of this is in working theory. Unfortunately, there haven’t been many cases in which something this special has occurred. But if I had to make an educated guess, then yes. I would say that once the three mates are properly bonded, then this so-called prophecy would be fulfilled.”
