Chapter 4 Are you Eva Joseph?

As soon as those words were spoken, the room fell silent for a moment.

Adam Allen stood up with a cold expression, his voice sharp, "Enough, Eva Joseph! How long are you going to keep this up?"

"What? Eva Joseph? She's Eva Joseph? The Allen family's young mistress?"

"No way, wasn't she supposed to be plain and dull? With that face and figure, how could she be considered ugly? You women are way too jealous!"

The Allen family had always looked down on Eva Joseph for her humble origins, never taking her to any high-society events. As a result, over the years, the outside world knew of the Allen family's young mistress but rarely saw her. Most had heard she was unattractive and unworthy of attention, but the rumors couldn't have been further from the truth.

Rebecca Twist's face, already pale, turned even more ashen upon hearing Adam's words.

She stood up shakily, her face pale but her voice steady, "Miss Joseph, I don't know why you said that, but there's nothing improper between Adam and me!"

Her demeanor and words immediately drew sympathy from the crowd, who began to look at Eva with disapproval.

Harry also pointed at Eva in disbelief, "You, you're Eva Joseph? How could you possibly be Eva Joseph?"

In his memory, Eva Joseph had always been a dull, timid figure with her head hung low. But the woman standing before him now was vibrant, bold, and alluring, with no trace of her former self.

Eva patted his cheek with a hint of disdain. "What's wrong? Feeling guilty for having lustful thoughts about the woman you always looked down on, your friend's wife?"

"Eva, I've had enough!" Adam Allen's voice was as cold as ice, causing everyone in the room to fall silent.

Eva, however, fearlessly met his gaze with a slightly mocking smile. "What, Mr. Allen, planning to teach me another lesson so I can end up with a bloody head again?"

Adam frowned, pressing his thin lips together as he stepped forward to grab her arm. "Come back with me." With a swift twist of her wrist, Eva skillfully freed herself from his grip, looking at Adam with a half-smile. "I can handle anything, but I won't be taken advantage of. You wronged me and got me hurt that day. Let's settle that score today."

She glanced at Rebecca Twist. "Miss Rebecca, you might want to take a heart pill, just in case you faint again later." Rebecca felt a vague sense of unease and forced a smile. "Miss Joseph, I think there might be some misunderstanding between us..."

Before she could finish speaking, Eva Joseph had already pulled out her phone and fiddled with it. Suddenly, a video began playing on the large screen in the private room. "Have you got those fake intimate photos ready for me?"

On the screen, Rebecca Twist was making a call, looking impatient.

Though the other person's voice couldn't be heard, Rebecca's expression soon relaxed. "Great, hack into Eva Joseph's phone later and send me the photos. Then, post her scandalous pictures with different men online. I want to ruin her reputation!"

By the end of her words, her gentle face twisted with malice, sending a shiver down the spines of everyone watching the video.

Next, Rebecca was seen pretending to be shocked and fainting upon seeing the fake intimate photos of Adam Allen and Eva Joseph when the butler and maids entered.

At this point, it was clear to everyone what was happening. It was an obvious setup to frame and defame Eva Joseph.

The crowd looked at Rebecca Twist, whose face had turned ghostly pale, with complex expressions.

Rebecca had always been the goddess of many in the circle pure, kind, gentle, and untouchable. But tonight had completely shattered their perception of her. Adam Allen stared at the screen with a blank expression, then cast a deep glance at Rebecca Twist.

Rebecca noticed the disappointment in his eyes, and her fingers dug into her palm, filled with regret and resentment.

She regretted being too careless and was furious that Eva Joseph had caught her in a trap! "Miss Rebecca, I really don't understand. Adam Allen was already planning to divorce me. Why did you go out of your way to slander me?"

Eva's cool voice shattered the silence in the room, laced with undeniable sarcasm. "Are you worried Mr. Allen might fall for someone else? Rest assured, I never go back to old flames, especially ones that are blind in both heart and mind!"

Adam watched Eva with cold eyes, a storm brewing within them.

Rebecca stood there, feeling as if she had been stripped bare, overwhelmed with shame and anger. She wanted to deny the video's authenticity, but she knew no one here was foolish enough to believe her lies. Denial would only add to her humiliation.

She forced herself to calm down.

No one else mattered; she just needed Adam's forgiveness.

With this thought, she looked at Eva with tears brimming in her eyes and bowed deeply. "I'm sorry, I was out of my mind, worried that Adam couldn't let you go, which led me to do such a thing..."

Eva Joseph raised her hand to interrupt, "You start the fight, I'll finish it. You slander me, I'll make you pay. Now, it's Mr. Allen's turn."

As she spoke, she walked over to Adam Allen, casually snatching the cigarette from Oliver's lips and slowly pressing it onto Adam's shoulder.

The burning cigarette tip pierced through the expensive shirt fabric, leaving a charred ring on his shoulder.

Everyone gasped in shock. Was this woman out of her mind?

Adam Allen's dark eyes locked onto her, cold flames flickering within, yet he didn't stop her.

Rebecca Twist, however, went berserk, lunging at Eva with her fingers reaching for Eva's face, screaming, "Eva Joseph, you're crazy! If you're angry, take it out on me!"

Eva's gaze turned icy as she slapped Rebecca, sending her stumbling into Harry's arms.

Eva pulled out a tissue, slowly wiping her fingers, and said calmly, "You should be glad I've mellowed out over the years, or I wouldn't have held back."

The others looked at Rebecca's already swollen face, the bright red handprint leaving everyone in silence.

If Rebecca Twist hadn't held back, would she have been slapped so hard she'd be disfigured?

"Eva Joseph," Adam Allen's voice was slightly hoarse, "Isn't that enough?" Eva smirked, stepped back, and spread her hands, "Okay, let's call it even. I wish you and Miss Rebecca a loving relationship, hand in hand till the end."

Adam's face showed no emotion, but his gaze was fixed on her.

Until yesterday, this woman was full of admiration for him, constantly swayed by his moods, humbly trying to please him.

But now, she seemed like a completely different person.

Bold, confident, vibrant, with a distinct personality, and not a trace of love for him in her eyes.

Had she truly moved on, or was she playing hard to get?

Suddenly, he asked, "What's your relationship with Tom Pearson? When did you meet him?"

Eva raised an eyebrow, "Does that concern you, Mr. Ex-Husband?"

Adam narrowed his eyes, "We aren't divorced yet. You're still my wife, and I have the right to know if you've betrayed me."

Rebecca Twist, hiding in Harry's arms, turned even paler. What does this mean, Adam? Could it be that he really can't let go of that jerk, Eva Joseph?
