Chapter 5 This is your promotion party

Ava's p.o.v

We reached down on the next floor and he put me down.

“What was that for?? If I may ask,” I scolded him.

“Are you now going to cooperate with me or I should do the same again??” He asked.

“Herman just tell me what the fuck is going on?” I furiously asked him.

“Come with me,” he offered me his hand.

“No I am not going anywhere with you unless you tell me what's going on,”I folded my hands on my chest.

“Oh i see you are still being stubborn!!! Okay,now let's do it the other way round,” he said and was aiming to lift me up in the air but I stopped him.

“Okay okay…let's go,” I finally gave in.

“Hmm that's my girl…,” he closed in and wanted to peck me but shifted my face because I was getting sick of his games right now.

We walked to some door and he told me to wait outside for a second…but since he has been acting weird the entire night,I wasn't surprised when he told me so.

He left me there standing for almost ten minutes and only God knows how much I was passed.

“Okay babe we are now good to go…come with me,” he came back with a smiley face and I wondered what was so funny.

He opened the door for me and I stepped inside but the moment we moved in,everyone came out from wherever they were hiding and they screamed,” happy promotion nnnn,”

I covered my ears with both hands because the screaming was too much.

“Babe this is it…I am sorry for making you mad but I was cooking this with these guys,” babe came and gave me a tight hug.

“What's all this??” I whispered in his ear as we hugged

“This is your promotion party babe,” he replied.

“Babe, you know how much I hate crowds,so why did you agree to push through with this??” I silently asked him.

“Babe, you know I wouldn't agree to such a thing but these guys insisted, especially your boss.” He replied.

“My boss!!! You and him have never been on good terms so how come this time you joined hands??” I asked him.

“Babe, this was a big deal for you…that's why I agreed.” He replied.

“Ava congratulations girl…I am so proud of you,” one coworker whom I rarely talk to came and congratulated me.

I had nothing to do other than faking a smile on my face,

“Thank you,” I replied.

I stood there besides Herman as other coworkers came to congratulate me but I didn't like any of them because everyone was faking and I still don't know why they all agreed to this party!

“Okay babe please let's proceed to our table,” Herman said.

He held my hand and we walked to our table and thank God,we were only three…me,Herman and his annoying younger brother.

I was just praying this party doesn't have a speech session because I wasn't ready to do all that in this room full of pretenders.

They started serving us drinks and more people came to our table to congratulate me.

“Hello Ava congratulations…this is what you have always been working for right??” My boss came to our table and asked me.

“Yes sir…this is it,” I replied while standing up.

“Well, then,you really deserve it and I am so much happy for you Ava,” he extended his hand and I shaked it.

Herman pulled out his phone and started scrolling through it but I knew there was nothing he was reading but rather keeping himself busy.

Okay,a brief background between me and my boss is that,we went to the same college and at one time he wanted to vibe me but turned him down…so after school, when I was struggling with getting a job,I applied in his company not knowing that he was the CEO but we met at the day of interview and we were both shocked to see each other again…trust me,he didn't hire me because he knew me but because of my grades at the transcript and I loved the fact that he acted so professional.

So after college that's when I met with Herman and we have been together since then but when he realized that my boss is my former college classmate,he wanted me to quit the job but when I explained to him how I struggled to get the job,he let me stay here and work…him and my boss have never been in good terms,that's why I am hell surprised what my boss did to convince Herman!!?

“Mr.Herman, thank you for everything, especially your time that you have sacrificed in order to put this to life,” my boss extended his hand to Herman but Herman just nodded and looked back to his phone…my boss just walked away and sat at his table.

“Babe that was harsh…you should have just shaked the guy's hand as simple as that.” I told him.

“Yes bro,I agree with my sister in law…you shouldn't have shown our boss attitude because he was trying to be nice,” his kid brother also added.

“Okay you two should spare me the lecture please…I did what I did and I am not sorry,” he arrogantly replied to us.

Me and his brother looked at each other in disbelief because we couldn't believe that he just said that!!

We sat there and everyone was busy on their phones,till my boss stood up and held the mic,then he called me forward to receive and sign my new contract as the rest of the guys were giving me a round of applause.

I stood up and joined him where he was standing, then I received my new contract. After signing it,we lifted it up while shaking hands and they took a few pictures of us but I saw Herman walking out of the room.
