Chapter 2 Meeting The Immortal Vampire

Sylvia POV

How was this even possible? Humans don't heal like that... this was some voodoo shit.

The doctors didn't even notice the change. They continued speaking over my lifeless body.

When the ambulance finally arrived at the hospital, the doctors hurriedly set me up for surgery.

"Bring her in!" the lead doctor shouted. They moved his body too.

"Her BP is dropping!"

"We can't lose her. Prepare the OR!" another beckoned.

My heart pounded against my chest as people shoved through my ghostly form. Nobody saw me, and whenever they walked through me, an uneasy feeling made my skin crawl. Not in a million years could I get used to this.

Nobody worried about my safety. No one cared if I was abandoned and alone in this hospital.

Whenever I tried to leave the hospital, or wandered too far from my body, an invisible force pulled me back to the operating room.

Memories flooded my mind. From the verbal insults and loud chatters, to Zara's wicked laughter and how she enjoyed watching me suffer, to the mocking whispers, drinks poured on my head, raw eggs soiling my dress in the dining hall, and the betrayal.

I gnashed my teeth in hatred. For the first time in years, the fear inside me slowly turned to anger.

"If only I could go back in time, I would have my revenge against these bastards."

Immediately the words left my mouth, I felt a chill at the back of my neck.

I turned around quickly and saw the handsome stranger, the one from the accident, now standing before me, perfectly unharmed.

He had this smirk on his face, and he stared right through me as if he had known me for ages.

What the hell? How could this be? One minute the doctors pronounced him dead, and the next he was hale and hearty, chuckling before me.

How was this even possible? How did he get here so fast?

"Can you see me?" I asked.

He immediately burst into laughter.

I felt a thousand eyes staring at me, but when he laughed, his ease greatly unsettled me.

"Welcome to the land of the dead, Miss," he finally spoke.

The words didn't really leave his mouth, but I could hear them inside my head.

He looked stunning, especially now that he stood before me. Hazy eyes, a godlike aura, and a deep soothing voice like rivers of flowing water.

I stuttered as I pointed at him. "You... you... you're meant to be dead."

"Technically, I am," he yawned lazily, "and this is the third time I've died this year. It gets exhausting as the years go by."

The third time he had died…

I didn't understand a thing he spoke about, but I wasn't really interested in that fairy tale. I needed answers to the weird turn of events unfolding right before my eyes.

His voice carried a cold vacuum, and his eyes held a thousand expressions, from loneliness to pride, as if he was looking down on the world and all that came with it.

Shoving one hand into his pocket, he pointed at his lifeless body covered in white from head to toe.

"That's me right there. I'm immortal, or probably cursed, whichever way you choose to put it."

My breath caught as an overwhelming dread engulfed me. "What are you?"

"I am so many things. A monster, an eternal beast, a ruler, the bringer of war, whichever one you choose to stick with."

Silence filled the hallway when those words left his mouth. His gaze felt ancient and unbreakable for someone looking so young.

Then he turned to me. "You, on the other hand, are just a weak, bullied high school kid who was killed during a chase."

His words were raw and unfiltered, hitting me in the delicate part of my chest, but it was true, and that I couldn't deny.

He flexed his muscles, then continued.

"Death itself is a luxury, a vengeful and honourable emissary that marches you into the afterlife. If only he would welcome some of us with a warm embrace."

I stared at him with a complex expression. How could someone be looking for death?

"Why are you telling me all these?" I asked.

"Because my death was your fault. I was saving you from that speeding truck but died trying."

"But you are not dead. I watched you heal. I saw your bones recon..."

"Oh, that..." he cut me off halfway. "There are some things you aren't meant to see."

I couldn't contain my emotions anymore. For the first time since I became a ghost, there was someone who could hear me vent, someone to narrate the molestation and humiliations I faced at the hands of Zara.

My eyes turned ashen.

"They made me die prematurely! They ruined my dream of college and my aspirations to play hockey. They killed the only daughter of a grieving father."

As the words left my mouth, I saw the tenderness in his eyes.

"You want revenge?" he asked calmly.

"Yes. I want them to feel the weight of their actions. I want them to pass through all the pain I have experienced."

"Hmmm," he finally muttered. "What if I gave you a second chance at life? What if I gave you the power to hunt down everyone who disrespected you?"

The atmosphere suddenly grew tense as I felt my hair stand on end.

"You hate being weak, bullied, and unable to stand up for yourself. You... you hate your life? Then take mine instead."

I stared at him in confusion, but his eyes remained fixed on his lifeless body.

Then he spoke again.

"Enter my body and rule my people. Experience what it feels like to be the Godfather of Vanshi Town, the kingmaker and Lord of the North. You will experience what power feels like."

My heart banged louder as I asked, "What about you?"

He saw my hesitation.

"What about me? I've had the luxury of living free for ages, but my living free is coming to an end. I thought I would embrace death, but the immortal Silas... the killer of all immortal beings... will come for me. And his arrival is imminent."

He then smiled at me tenderly.

"I need to experience life from a different angle before I die. I'll take your body and live your life."

The ease with which he made that assertion embarrassed me and greatly unsettled me. I was just a teenager trying to get by.

"You want to

live as me?" I asked uneasily.

"Yes," he answered flatly, "and I'll help you get revenge on the ones who humiliated you.”
