Chapter Two: Vivian's POV
Maxwell might not necessarily be the best choice, even though we'd only met twice before at parties.
But now...
I gripped Maxwell's hand in return, leaned forward, and pushed Maxwell down onto the soft sofa, trying to kiss him.
"Miss Vivian, do you know who I am?"
Maxwell let me push him down, but suddenly asked me just before I could kiss him.
"I remember you still have a boyfriend. Do you need me to call him over?"
"You mean that bastard who broke up with me via text and then stood me up? I really wish he were dead!"
"You'd better not mention him! Maxwell, consider me owing you a favor!"
"At worst, after we wake up, we'll just pretend we don't know each other!"
I sealed his mouth, my hands unbuttoning his shirt. Maxwell didn't resist, and even seemed quite cooperative.
I struggled to remove his expensive suit jacket, carelessly throwing it on the floor, then I began to remove my own dress.
I don't know if I was too rushed, but I kept missing the zipper.
"Damn it!"
I cursed under my breath, my face flushing pink from frustration.
Maxwell chuckled softly, then gently embraced me, tenderly helping me pull down the zipper.
His palm was warm and strong. When his fingertips brushed across the skin of my back, my body couldn't help but tremble slightly.
A strange feeling beyond desire quietly arose.
Secret yet pleasurable.
This feeling was subtle, yet it struck my heart like lightning.
So strange!
Maxwell watched me lose focus, then leaned in and bit my lip.
"Now's not the time to be distracted, my lady."
The next second, he wrapped his arm around my waist and turned me around, instantly reversing our positions.
I lay on the sofa, both wrists pinned above my head by one of his hands.
Maxwell's lips lightly brushed past my ear, his tone both suggestive and restrained.
"Since you came to me, don't leave again, my lady."
"You won't have that chance."
As he spoke, burning kisses continuously fell on my forehead, nose tip, cheeks...
Finally sealing the moan that was about to escape my lips.
My mind was already dizzy, and it was the first time I knew that just a kiss could make my whole body go limp and my breathing rapid.
It must be the drug's effect, I rationalized to myself, refusing to admit how charming Maxwell was at this moment.
His silk shirt was crumpled by me, so he simply tore it open himself, revealing his well-defined muscular body.
My legs wrapped around his firm waist, constantly rising and falling with his rhythm in pleasure.
I felt like I was going crazy!
Maxwell seemed to want to explore all the secret spots on my body, constantly experimenting, constantly stimulating.
I went from initial pleasure to eventually begging weakly, until finally I couldn't hold on anymore.
In my daze, I even thought that if Maxwell was willing to be my bed partner, that would feel pretty good too.
The temperature in the private room kept rising, the wine on the table constantly swaying...
When my consciousness gradually cleared, I was already lying on an unfamiliar large bed.
The sensations in my body constantly reminded me of how crazy last night had been.
Recalling Maxwell's words in my ear last night, "Vivian, since you came to find me, don't think about leaving again. You won't have that chance!"
I rubbed my head, feeling I'd been somewhat impulsive.
Clearly I didn't value matters between men and women that much. Perhaps the drug was too strong, or perhaps Maxwell just happened to be my type.
Tall physique, proportionate muscles, features as three-dimensional as a sculpture.
Score!
I picked up the clothes by the bed, tidied up and prepared to leave, just running into Maxwell carrying milk.
He wore a dark blue robe, collar wide open, revealing some red suggestive marks.
I knew very well what those were, because I had them on my neck too.
I tugged at my collar, and Maxwell saw my movement and looked down with a soft laugh.
"Leaving already?"
"Mm, there are some matters at the company that need handling."
I pretended to thank him naturally, "Thank you for last night. Did that person confess?"
Maxwell handed me the milk. "He did, and he also admitted someone instructed him to do this, but it wasn't this kind of drug—it was a large dose of marijuana."
I was startled, nearly dropping the milk in my hand.
"Who?"
"He said he wasn't very clear about that either, only knew it was a young woman whose jewelry and bag looked very expensive."
A large dose of marijuana—this was meant to kill me directly.
"But when that person saw you, he temporarily switched the drug to this one..."
Maxwell didn't finish, but I understood his meaning.
I've always known I'm beautiful. I've been confessed to by countless people since childhood. I was even captain of our school's cheerleading squad.
So after Theodore and I got together, he was targeted by many guys both openly and covertly.
Why am I thinking about him again? I won't forget last night's humiliation. Theodore, you're dead!
"I'll remember this favor. Thank you, Maxwell. I'll repay you when I have the chance."
I put down the milk and prepared to leave, but my arm was grabbed by Maxwell's outstretched hand.
"You're just leaving like this?"
Maxwell's deep blue eyes showed surprise.
I didn't quite understand. "Is there something else?"
Maxwell looked at me with some expectation. "Have you forgotten what you promised me last night?"
"What?"
I looked back at him blankly, quickly searching through those fragmented memories from last night.
Did I promise to give him the company? Or sign a share transfer agreement?
It wouldn't matter, as long as I didn't sell the company.
"You said you'd be my girlfriend."
"What?!"
This time I was truly shocked. Although we did that kind of thing, it was a consensual matter between adults. Besides, I said I owed him a favor, and my favors are very valuable!
"Well, Mr. Maxwell," I pulled my arm from his hand and smiled politely, "what happened last night was just an accident. Besides, you didn't lose anything either. To escalate it to boyfriend-girlfriend territory is a bit serious."
"But you promised. You also said you'd marry me in the future, said I was your one true love in this life... mmph..."
I quickly covered his mouth. "How can you say such things?" "Who remembers what they said when drunk? Besides, do you have proof?"
"I, Vivian Ashford, swear that from now on I will only love Maxwell Steves. From today on, he... is my boyfriend... is my true love in this life..."
My confused, desire-laden words came from his phone as he played an audio recording. I looked at him in shock.
"You secretly recorded me?!"
