Chapter 4

For the entire following week, life at the repair shop settled into an almost unbelievable peace.

During the day, Fenrir was a man of few words who spent most of his time beneath cars.

But at night, he completely shed his disguise.

He was insatiable.

For seven consecutive nights, the beast took without restraint in the darkness, using overwhelming ferocity and possessiveness to deepen my Claiming Bite again and again.

I thought I would die beneath his savagery.

Yet under the constant nourishment of his scorching Alpha pheromones, my body, which had been cold and depleted for years, miraculously began to recover.

Now, wearing one of his oversized, soft old T-shirts, my complexion was rosy, and vitality seemed to radiate from me.

The lifeless, exhausted woman I had been in Silver Moon felt like someone from a previous life.

On the morning of the eighth day, Fenrir noticed that I couldn't finish my breakfast.

For the first time, he didn't open the repair shop's rolling door.

"Change your clothes."

He tossed me a jacket.

"I'm taking you into town. You haven't had much of an appetite these past two days. Let the old witch doctor take a look at you."

Scrap Iron Town sat on the borderlands.

There was only a rundown market and a shabby witch doctor's clinic.

The air was permanently thick with the bitter, musty smell of dried herbs.

We had barely sat down on a bench outside the clinic when the quiet was shattered.

Several black armored SUVs stopped aggressively in front of the clinic.

The doors opened, and Carl stepped out with a dark expression.

Lilith followed close behind.

She wore an expensive loose-fitting dress and delicately covered her barely noticeable belly with one hand.

As soon as she entered, she raised a silk scarf to cover her nose and mouth.

Disgust flashed across her eyes as she looked around the shabby clinic.

But the moment she saw me, that disgust instantly transformed into fake helplessness.

"Yvaine?"

Lilith timidly leaned into Carl's arms and pretended to gasp, though triumph glittered in her eyes.

"Carl, look at her… Why would she come to such a terrible place to see a doctor? Is the damage from the broken bond too severe? Is she dying?"

Carl looked at my radiant face, then at Fenrir beside me, his tall frame dressed in a rough T-shirt.

His expression immediately darkened.

"Even if you found some lowly wolf to keep you alive, it won't last long."

Carl sneered and approached as though offering charity.

"Lilith's pregnancy has been unstable lately and she needs someone to prepare her herbal medicine. If you dump him, I can still leave you a servant's position in the territory for old times' sake. I might even have the pack's senior witch doctor treat you."

"Carl, you're not only disgusting. You're blind, too."

I couldn't even be bothered to stand.

I looked at them coldly.

"Take your Luna and stay away from me."

Lilith's eyes immediately reddened.

She tugged at Carl's sleeve.

"Carl, I was only trying to help because I felt sorry for her… Let her go. Don't get angry with her because of me."

"Bitch. You don't know how to appreciate kindness!"

Humiliated by my rejection, Carl flew into a rage.

He suddenly raised his hand to slap me, and the pressure of a high-ranking Alpha crashed down.

But he never touched me.

"Bang!"

A warm, rough hand appeared out of nowhere, clamping around Carl's wrist like an iron vise.

Fenrir had stood up at some point.

He was like an impassable black wall, instantly shielding me completely behind him.

"Who were you trying to touch?"

Fenrir didn't even raise his eyelids.

His voice was quiet, but the veins standing out on the back of his hand revealed terrifying strength.

Bones groaned under the crushing pressure.

Carl's expression changed dramatically.

He desperately tried to yank his hand free, only to discover that he couldn't move Fenrir even an inch.

And Fenrir hadn't even taken an attack stance.

He merely let out a low, violently savage Growl from deep in his throat.

That pure, brutal bloodline pressure exploded outward.

The surrounding air seemed to drain away.

Carl's legs buckled, and amid Lilith's scream, he nearly collapsed to his knees.

At that exact moment, the thick, pungent scent of Lilith's perfume drifted over.

My stomach suddenly lurched violently.

Nausea shot straight into my head.

My vision went black.

My legs gave way, and I fell backward.

"Yvaine!"

Fenrir instantly tossed Carl aside like garbage and rushed back, catching me securely in his arms.

A flicker of panic crossed those dark-gold eyes.

The old witch doctor in the inner room heard the commotion and hurried out with his medicine case.

Carl, supported by his men, rubbed his bruised wrist and sneered from the side.

"Stop fussing over her! That broken body of hers is already ruined. She can't even produce pups. At this rate, she's probably dying—"

His words abruptly stopped.

The old witch doctor closed his eyes and held his withered palm above my lower abdomen, probing my life force.

Suddenly, as if he had sensed something terrifying, his eyes flew open.

His entire body trembled violently as though struck by lightning.

His face went deathly pale.

"Oh, gods. By the Moon Goddess…"

"What's wrong with her? Tell me."

Fenrir pressed my head against his chest, his murderous gaze fixed on the witch doctor.

The old man swallowed repeatedly, his face filled with shock.

"She isn't sick!"

"She… she's pregnant!"

"And there are two incredibly strong heartbeats! The life force of these embryos is absolutely that of a top-tier bloodline…"

The entire room fell silent.

The false innocence shattered across Lilith's face.

She stared at my belly in disbelief.

Carl's sneer froze completely.

His pupils trembled violently, as if he had just heard the most absurd joke in the world.

"Impossible!"

He roared, his voice sharp with near hysteria.

"She's a defective wolf! She spent three years with me without a single sign of pregnancy! How could she possibly be pregnant?!"
