Chapter 4
"Baby, they were just joking with you, you're being too sensitive," Alpha Jack said as he approached me, his tone as falsely sweet and gentle as always.
I coldly shook off his hand, gritting my teeth. "You all can play by yourselves. I’m going upstairs to rest."
Just as I turned to leave, he handed me a steaming cup of milk.
"Drink this first," he smiled. "It’s for calcium, good for you and the baby."
I looked at the cup in his hand, and Claire’s voice from the video echoed in my ears: "Are you sure you gave her enough sleeping pills?"
My body shivered slightly, and I asked, "What do you want?"
"I’m just worried you might be calcium deficient in your late pregnancy," he said calmly, but the coldness in his eyes betrayed him. "Don’t you trust me?"
"I don’t want to drink it." I pushed the cup away.
His smile froze, and his tone suddenly turned cold. "I’ve already given you enough face today. Do you really want to make things difficult for me?"
Just as he was about to get angry, another voice came from behind, "Alpha Jack, don’t be so harsh. Leyna is pregnant, you should be gentler with her."
I turned around—it was Claire.
She was holding a cup of hot water, her eyes soft, but her tone as cold as ice. "Leyna, don’t be scared. This is just hot water. You don’t have to drink the milk."
I looked at her, knowing the water wasn’t clean either, but I could only grit my teeth and take it.
"Once I finish the water, can I go upstairs?" I asked.
She smiled. "Of course."
I drank the hot water in one gulp, and within seconds, my chest began to burn intensely, as if countless worms were gnawing at my flesh. My mind became blurry, and my limbs gradually softened. My body uncontrollably fell into a cold embrace—it was Alpha Zane, his face too close, filled with repulsive disdain and impatience.
"Claire, you’re ruthless," he licked his lips. "You’re afraid she’ll find out about the surrogacy secret and refuse to cooperate, so you drugged her to make her lose her innocence completely."
"With this video, we don’t have to worry about her turning on us later." Alpha Jack’s voice was as cold as ever.
Claire smiled, pride shining in her eyes. "This dose of medicine will keep her out for the entire night, and it’s mixed with 'Alpha submissive scents' and 'short-term memory blockers.' When she wakes up, she’ll think she came onto us willingly."
"Let me go..." I murmured, the images before my eyes shattering like a broken mirror, unfocused.
Alpha Jack placed a hand on Claire’s shoulder, coldly eyeing me. "Alpha Zane, be gentle, that child is ours."
Alpha Zane lifted me, sneering, "Don’t worry, Alpha Jack, this isn’t our first time with a pregnant Omega."
I almost collapsed in the darkness, my last shred of consciousness only leaving me with the words I spoke to Alpha Jack:
"You will regret this."
Claire picked up a glass of wine and mockingly said to me:
"Sweet dreams."
I woke up again, naked on the cold floor, a large patch of dried blood between my legs.
"Help me..." I weakly pleaded.
The response I received was cold mockery:
"Don’t pretend, your moans just now were so loud even Alpha Zane said you cooperated well."
Then came Alpha Jack’s chilling voice: "It’s done. Now, we should think about how to deal with the aftermath."
When I woke again, the strong smell of disinfectant filled the air. I was lying in a hospital bed, my abdomen empty.
"Luna Leyna," the nurse softly called. "You’ve had a miscarriage. The child couldn’t be saved. We’ve preserved the remains; do you need to sign for its handling?"
Luna—this was the formal title for an Alpha’s mate. But now, this term sounded nothing short of sarcastic.
I looked at the form the nurse handed me and said calmly, "Please call a courier for me."
Alpha Jack and his "brothers" opened the door, seeing a trail of blood from the hallway to the living room.
"What’s going on?" Jack’s face turned pale as he rushed upstairs. "Leyna? Where are you?"
The room was empty, the window wide open, and the wind blew a red dress on the bed. The bloodstains led to the windowsill, as if she had jumped out.
And then, the doorbell rang.
"Hello, is this Alpha Jack?" The courier outside politely asked.
"There’s a refrigerated package for you. Please sign for it."
He handed over a refrigerated box with a label saying, "Medical Use · Luna Family Handling."
On the signature receipt, the sender's name was clearly written:
Leyna.
