Chapter 10
As we were finishing up, a group of bikers pulled into the parking lot. I needed to use the restroom.
“Mind if I use the ladies?” I said to Adrian. He was watching the bikers through the window. He nodded.
“Oh if you’re looking for the restroom, gotta go out back to the gas station’s. Gotta get the plumber out to fix ours.” Flo informed us.
I looked back to Adrian, he was still watching the bikers. “Go. Be quick.” He said without looking at me.
In rare moment of trust between us, he didn’t emphasize how I shouldn’t use this opportunity to try an escape. He also probably realized I had no where to go but take off down the road.
I went out the back door of the diner and walked over to the gas station. I could hear the bikers yelling and laughing behind me as I walked.
“Wooooo you sure are a pretty thing!” I heard one of them yell. “Come over here and keep us company!” Another one yelled.
I didn’t acknowledge them and continued to the restroom. It was the kind of restroom where the door was outside, no mini mart to go into.
As I did my business I could hear footsteps getting closer. The voices of the bikers got louder. “Come on out here, sweetheart. We don’t bite.” I heard.
Little did they know, I did. I finished up and washed my hands, taking my time. Then one pounded on the door. I jumped, and had a flashback to Adrian’s henchmen grabbing me from the bakery.
That felt like an eternity ago. But these were human’s. I could take them. Hopefully…I was a strong wolf, there was a good chance I could surprise them and over power them enough to get back to Adrian.
The pounding on the door continued when suddenly the doorknob broke off and the door swung open. The bikers started laughing even harder.
There was nothing in here I could use as a weapon, besides myself. So I used it. One biker reached out and I grabbed his arm, bending it in a direction arms should never go.
I pushed off of him and slammed my foot hard into the biker behind him, sending him stumbling back.
I felt hands grab my hair and I was yanked to the ground. The dirty face of the biker filled my view.
“You’re gonna regret that, darlin’.” He said with a grim smile. I rolled over and kicked his ankle out from under him. I jumped up as he hit the ground. The other two bikers grabbed me by my arms and dragged me a few feet.
I heard the bikers gag. Then suddenly I was free from their grasp. I steadied myself and turned to see the bikers dangling with their feet inches above the ground.
Adrian had them by their necks, their faces turning purple as they struggled. He let them drop like sacks to the ground.
“How dare you lay a finger on her.” Adrian’s voice was terrifying. His eyes glowed with rage. I could feel it rolling off of him.
The bikers gasped for breath as they dragged themselves to get away from Adrian. Adrian picked up the leader and slammed him into the wall.
The two others cowered, unsure of what to do. “Is that what you like to do to women?” Adrian asked. “You like them afraid of you? Does it make you feel powerful?” He growled into the bikers face.
The tried to fight back, swinging a fist up. Adrian caught it in one hand, while still pinning the biker to the wall. The bikers eyes widen, and Adrian tighten his hand around the fist. I could hear the bones break from where I stood.
The biker let out a gurgling cry. “Apologize to her.” Adrian demanded. His voice was level but his rage was barely contained.
“I-I’m sorry.” The biker choked out. Adrian looked to me. I nodded in return.
“You’re lucky.” Adrian told him, as he let the biker collapse to the ground. Adrian turned and took a few steps to me. He tilted my face up to his as he examined me.
“I’m fine, I promise.” I said, barely over a whisper. His eyes didn’t change. I wrapped my hands around his. “Adrian, I’m really okay.”
I looked over to see Flo, standing outside the diner with a shocked expression plastered on her face.
“We should go.” I told Adrian. He didn’t move. “Come on.” I pulled him by his hands towards the car and let me. I could feel his rage still radiating.
We got in and he took off. We drove in silence for a minute. I didn’t know what to say. He was gripping the wheel like it was that bikers neck. His breathing was still heavy.
“Pull over.” I said. He didn’t acknowledge it. “Pull over!”. Without looking at me he jerked the wheel and pulled off to the side of the desolate road.
I unbuckled my seat belt as Adrian pushed his door open. He got out and stood breathing heavily as I made my way around the side of the car.
“Isla I don’t know-’’. But I cut him off. I threw my arms around his neck and he didn’t hesitate to scoop me up as I smashed my lips into his.
He turned and pressed me against the SUV as I grabbed fistfuls of his thick hair. I grinned my hips against his as his tongue danced in my mouth.
He shifted to me with one arm as he used the other to open the backseat door. He laid see down and I grasped at his belt, desperately getting it open before unbuttoning his pants.
He wasted no time yanking my pants and flipped me over. My legs dangled out of the car as he had me bent over. He thrust himself inside me with aching eager.
I gripped the seat, tearing small holes in the leather as I let out the most pleasurable cry. Adrian moaned loudly as he increased his speed. Our heavy panting fell in tandem and I could feel myself starting to climax.
Adrian could feel it too. His hands gripped the sides of my hips even harder as I came. Then he couldn’t control himself anymore. He let out something of a cry and a growl as he came inside me.
He continued to pump into me for another minute as he slowed down. His breathing slowed too, as did mine. I rolled over as he pulled himself out of me. I sat up as he leaned in and pressed a long, passionate kiss to my lips.
Then he kissed my forehead. Then the top of my head. He cradled my head to his chest for a minute and I wrapped my arms around his waist.
He kissed the top of my head one more time. “We need to keep moving. We need to get into the mountains before it’s too dark.” He said.
Not what I thought he was going to say. I didn’t say anything. He buttoned his pants back up and I did the same. He held a hand out for me as I got out of the back seat. Then we got back on the road.
The drive was silent, like much of our trip so far. But this was a different kind of silence. The sun was setting as Adrian pulled off onto a long dirty road surrounded by thick tree cover.
We stayed on the road until it opened into a tiny trail head area for hiking. He parked the car.
“We go the rest of the way on foot.” He said, and we got out.
The trunk opened to reveal camping gear. I pulled the back packs out of the back seat as Adrian got the gear out.
He attached the camping gear to his backpack and slung onto his back. I threw mine on too and Adrian took out his phone.
I wondered how on earth I was going to have done this alone. I’ve never pitched a tent in my life, let alone done so in the dark on a mountain.
My nerves hit me. I was really about to enter into a foreign land with no idea what to expect. Adrian used his phone to guide us in the direction Tessa’s location was last pinged.
“Eventually I won’t have service, but we’ll use this to go as far as we can.” He stated.
“Okay. And then what? The map?” I asked
“Yes, if we need it. Hopefully we find them before they find us and we can track them to their camp.” He replied.
We hiked until it was pitch black out. We had stayed on a trail for a while until we had no choice but to veer off. We used flash lights to light our way, something Adrian didn’t seem worried about.
“How far are we from Tessa’s last location?” I asked. “Still several miles.” He answered as we stepped into a small natural clearing. “We’ll set up camp here for tonight.” He said.
