Chapter 1
“Ward Jimmy, a student of the experimental class, has been demoted to a janitor at Snow Mountain Gate. He is forbidden from setting foot in the experimental class for life!”
These words rang out in Ward Jimmy’s mind like a thunderbolt out of the blue!
“Menial laborers?” Ward Jimmy stared blankly at the administrative professor on the platform, his eyes filled with shock.
After the calm comes the torrential downpour, like a storm!
“Why? Why?” Ward Jimmy’s eyes were blood-red, and his whole body trembled. “I forged all the magical weapons of the academy. I stole all the precious herbs and medicinal substances. I even won the championship at the Five Sects Tournament for you all. And now, because of those traitors, my abilities have been ruined, and I’ve lost all my magical power. And yet, you still want to demote me to a servant?”
Facing Ward Jimmy’s accusations, the administrative professor on the high platform sneered. Looking down at Ward Jimmy, he said slowly, “So what? You’re nothing but a good-for-nothing now. The fact that you’re still allowed to stay in the academy is already a favor to you. What more do you want?”
Watching the condescending smirk on the administrative professor’s face from atop the platform, a sharp look passed through Ward Jimmy’s eyes.
He had a feud with Ryan Churchill, the grandson of this administrative professor, over who would inherit the position.
Ward Jimmy guessed that this time, his skills had been disabled and his energy core destroyed—surely those two, grandfather and grandson, were involved!
“Although Senior Jimmy made many contributions to the academy in the past, the academy also nurtured him. Now that he’s been ruined by others, it’s clearly because he failed to meet the academy’s expectations.” A beautiful, tall female student spoke out loudly, her tone filled with disdain.
Hearing the female student’s words, the other students around her nodded in agreement.
“We are mages, we are immortals. What’s the point of keeping such a good-for-nothing around in the academy?”
“He’s now not even as good as an ordinary person. How dare he still stay in the academy? Even working as a servant would be too much of an honor for him.”
In this world, the greatest difference between people is whether they are immortals or mortals! Mages can live for hundreds or even thousands of years, while mortals can only live for a few decades at most.
Hearing the mockery and jeers from everyone around him, Ward Jimmy clenched his fists tightly, ignoring the blood that flowed from his palms as his fingers were cut.
He’s not willing to give up!
A month ago, flames erupted in the mountains of Benneviss, south of the Roman Empire. Colorful lights filled the sky. It seemed that some rare treasure had appeared. As a result, academies throughout the empire sent their students there. After fierce battles, the rare treasure was eventually obtained by Ward Jimmy from the Snow Mountain Sect.
On his way back, a group of men in black suddenly attacked, attempting to steal the treasure. Despite Ward Jimmy doing his best to protect the treasure for the academy, it was still taken by the attackers. Ward Jimmy himself ended up with his abilities disabled as a result.
Skills can be anything in the world, and everyone will awaken their own skills.
There are countless types of skills, ranging widely and in great diversity. These skills are divided into four major categories: Heaven, Earth, Mysterious, and Yellow. Each of these categories is further divided into ten levels.
The higher the skill level, the faster the learning progress. Consequently, the greater the chances of becoming a strong warrior in the future. Additionally, whenever a mage reaches a new level, they are granted a spiritual skill. Depending on the skill, the power of this spiritual skill varies to some extent.
And the reason why those mortals remain mortals is not that they’re unable to cultivate, but rather that their skills are simply not up to par—they don’t even reach the first level of proficiency. So, even if they spent their entire lives trying, whether they could achieve the basic level of skill would remain a huge question.
In fact, under those circumstances, Ward Jimmy could have easily abandoned the precious artifact and fled on his own.
However, what he didn’t expect was that after narrowly escaping with his life, he would be treated in such a manner upon returning to the academy.
The mockery around me is like the annoying buzzing of mosquitoes and flies. Even though I don’t want to listen, their noise persists in my ears.
Ward Jimmy couldn’t help but laugh softly to the sky.
“A college like this is truly disheartening!”
Back then, Ward Jimmy was a naturally gifted individual. From a young age, he trained under Snow Mountain’s teachings. At just sixteen, he reached the junior peak level. He was considered the best among the younger generation within the mountain sect, and also a candidate to succeed the leader. Everyone held him in high regard.
But now, he has become a pariah whom everyone wants to beat up. It’s truly pitiful!
But so what?
Now that he’s nothing but a good-for-nothing, how dare he complain in front of the mighty Snow Mountain Gate!
With his eyes slightly closed, Ward Jimmy gritted his teeth and bowed respectfully to the lofty administrative professor. “The academy’s orders must be obeyed! From now on, I am merely a servant at Snow Mountain Academy!”
“Oh, so they really knelt down after all.”
“I thought he might kill himself in a fit of anger.”
“I can’t wait for the day when my clothes will be washed by those seniors from the experimental class from back then!”
After a long while, Ward Jimmy stood up. Yet the unbearable words around him continued without pause!
Now, he feels no emotion whatsoever toward this academy. So, all these rumors mean nothing to him at all.
“From now on, please bear with me, all my senior classmates!”
As soon as Leng Nuo Bing Shuang finished speaking, Ward Jimmy took a few steps forward and left the place, feeling chilled to the bone.
And those college students who continued to laugh and chat in the square had no idea what secrets Ward Jimmy still held.
In fact, what was taken by those in black that day wasn’t some truly precious artifact at all. It was merely a strange spiritual stone that Ward Jimmy had found in the Bennevies Mountains.
And that truly precious artifact, for some reason, now appeared strangely within Ward Jimmy’s shattered energy core!
It was a purplish-black flame that emitted a chilling aura!
Regarding the matter of the flames, Ward Jimmy intended to report it to the academy. But to his surprise, Snow Mountain Gate’s actions were incredibly heartless!
“Since that’s the case, you shouldn’t blame me either.”
“Although I don’t know what this flame is, as long as I, Ward Jimmy, am still alive, no one will ever take it from me!”
“Also, whatever you’ve taken from me today, I’ll make sure you return it with your own hands!”
A chill swept through his heart. Ward Jimmy came back to his senses, then oriented himself and headed toward the academy’s janitorial office.
The location of the servant quarters was a clearing about a mile away from Snow Mountain’s entrance. These were merely ordinary people with extremely poor skill levels. Of course, they weren’t qualified to live under the same roof as the mages.
Ward Jimmy, who was on his way to the janitorial office, had just stepped out of Snow Mountain Gate when he spotted Vanny Jimmy, who was crying softly at the entrance.
Vanny Jimmy was Ward Jimmy’s maid, and also the girl whom Ward Jimmy saved from bandits at the foot of Snow Mountain when he was a child.
And now, Vanny Jimmy was just a twelve- or thirteen-year-old girl. She was quite small in stature, with her hair tied up in a ponytail. Her naturally dark complexion made her features seem rather plain. She wore a coarse-cloth coat that was clearly too big for her. As soon as she saw Ward Jimmy coming out of the mountain gate, tears streamed down her face like a flood breaking its banks.
Suddenly throwing herself into Ward Jimmy’s arms, Vanny Jimmy sobbed, “Young master, our family has been robbed by those villains. They’ve taken away all your precious elixirs and magical items too.”
Looking at Vanny Jimmy before him, Ward Jimmy felt a wave of anger surge in his heart. It was as though there was a flame buried deep within him, ready to burst forth at any moment.
Ward Jimmy didn’t care about those magical elixirs or artifacts at all. What really mattered to him was Vanny Jimmy, his only relative.
For Ward Jimmy, everyone in the whole world put together isn’t worth as much as one Vanny Jimmy!
“Oh, isn’t that our senior from the experimental class? What’s he doing standing here?”
At that moment, a voice that sounded both male and female came from ahead of the two of them.
The two of them looked closely and saw a man in pink clothes, with a heavily made-up face, waving a handkerchief as he walked toward them.
Wherever the man went, he left behind a trail of pungent rouge scent.
“Oh, right, I almost forgot. You’re just a servant now. This isn’t even a place you should be in!” The flamboyant man covered his mouth and chuckled lightly. In a flash, he stood in front of Ward Jimmy, his smug expression obvious to everyone.
When Vanny Jimmy saw who was coming, she seemed frightened and quickly hid behind Ward Jimmy.
