Chapter 13
The lizard-like creature reappeared on the ground, now completely reduced to charred remains. Its fallen body was so massive that it caused the ground to shake slightly.
Dawn Allen felt her legs go weak, and she collapsed to the ground.
That’s too weird.
Everything is just too bizarre!
Ward Jimmy is clearly human. Then why didn’t he faint under her enchanting scent? Why, being only at the second level of the beginner rank, did his spiritual pressure still manage to make the lizard dragon lie on the ground? Why were his eyes so terrifying? And why could he face the lizard dragon without any fear, and even easily turn it into what it is now?
Who exactly is this man?
Perhaps, he isn’t even human at all…
“It seems like you’re quite surprised,” Ward Jimmy said, crouching down to be at Dawn Allen’s level. Dawn Allen kept stepping back, as if trying to get as far away from this “person” as possible.
“I am a malevolent deity known as the High Elf Demon. I currently reside within this human’s body, helping him ascend to heaven so that I can restore my soul. It’s that simple.”
Dawn Allen’s lips trembled for a long time before she managed to speak a sentence: “After your soul is restored, will you go on a killing spree?”
“Human, it’s better for you not to know too much about things that aren’t under your control. Otherwise, after I tell you, I’ll have to kill you to keep your mouth shut.”
Ward Jimmy’s gaze was icy cold. Yet, those golden eyes, paired with Ward Jimmy’s face, were surprisingly attractive. It made Dawn Allen’s heart beat a little faster.
I just don’t know if I’m truly moved, or if I’m simply scared by the high elves.
“Okay, I understand.”
Seeing that Dawn Allen was on the verge of fainting, the High Elf slowly retracted Ward Jimmy’s energy core. The golden color in his eyes disappeared, returning to its usual pure black.
“That’s how it is.” Ward Jimmy helped Dawn Allen up. “Your Inner Elixir of the Earth Demon King was specifically requested by the Lord of the Heavenly Demons. But as for your princess’s cold poison, I’ll have to use my own magic potions to cure it.”
“I see.” Dawn Allen nodded. “Thank you for saving me. I thought…”
“Do you really think that I tried to get rid of you because I wanted to steal your Spirit Beast King’s Inner Elixir and thus refuse to treat the princess?” Ward Jimmy looked at Dawn Allen with amusement. Dawn Allen was completely astonished, almost as if the words “How do you know?” were written all over her face.
“Who can’t see through your little tricks? The moment you tried to use your magic, I knew something was wrong. So I held my breath and pretended to faint, to see what you’d do next. As expected, as soon as I fainted, you ran out of the barrier.”
“What’s the purpose of that barrier exactly? Why did the lizard dragon suddenly change its course when it encountered it?”
Dawn Allen voiced the doubts in her mind.
“Do you still remember the symbol I drew on the barrier talisman?” Ward Jimmy handed the talisman to Dawn Allen and explained, “This symbol is the spiritual mark of the High Elves’ celestial demons. As long as this symbol is present, all spiritual beasts will give way.”
“I see now. No wonder that lizard dragon said those words just now.” Dawn Allen murmured to herself. She needed to learn how to draw that symbol. In the future, when she took the princess out, she could stick it on the princess for protection.
“Stop looking. Without my blood, which contains the essence of high elves, to act as a guide, those empty symbols are completely useless.”
Ward Jimmy seemed to see through Dawn Allen’s thoughts. Dawn’s face turned red, and in a manner that only served to make things worse, she said loudly, “I didn’t!”
After all these twists and turns, Ward Jimmy and Dawn Allen finally arrived at the location of the water source that Dawn Allen had mentioned. However, the water was just as murky as it had been when Ward Jimmy first found it.
It seems that the water here is also polluted.
Ward Jimmy sighed. He could only blame himself for not arriving earlier. Ward Jimmy remembered the words of that poor lizard-dragon.
That old scoundrel, Angelo Churchill, actually kept three magical beasts on Peach Mountain? Could they be the same magical beasts that Dawn Allen mentioned—those that lived on the mountainside and polluted the water sources?!
When you think about it this way, it makes sense.
Angelo Churchill must have started keeping magical beasts in Taoshan only in recent years. Dawn Allen said that the area within five hundred miles around Taoshan is contaminated, which indicates that the water wasn’t polluted for very long. Moreover, there are numerous magical beasts in Taoshan. If no one had disrupted the balance there, the water wouldn’t have become contaminated in the first place.
Angelo Churchill, oh Angelo Churchill, you truly have no humanity at all!
Ward Jimmy thought to himself.
He and Dawn Allen went up to the mountainside to find out what was going on. But before they even reached the mountainside, a poisonous mist hit them.
“What’s this smell? Ugh, it’s so pungent…” Dawn Allen covered her nose and fanned herself with her hand.
“I’ve never heard of such a place in Momoyama before.”
“This must be the place where that old scoundrel Angelo Churchill hid his magical beasts!”
Ward Jimmy took out the talismans and skillfully drew two barrier talismans. He handed one to Dawn Allen. With these barriers in place, they wouldn’t be affected by the poisonous miasma.
Following the instructions of the high elf demon, Ward Jimmy kept moving forward. Soon after, he heard a faint, agonized growl in the distance, as if something had been suffering for a long time.
Ward Jimmy lit a dispelling talisman, driving away the miasma around him. Then, as he had wished, he saw Angelo Churchill surrounded by three magical beasts.
Golden-clawed Lion, Prison Dragon Fire Lizard, and Thunder-patterned Cloud Wolf.
The limbs of all three magical beasts were tied with chains bearing curse symbols. No wonder those beasts couldn’t break free.
When they saw someone approaching, the three magical beasts didn’t react with anger, but with fear.
Ward Jimmy clenched his fists in anger. What on earth had Angelo Churchill, that old scoundrel, done to those magical beasts! He kept them in places filled with poisonous miasma, and chained their limbs to prevent them from escaping!
Angelo Churchill! What on earth do you think the lives of magical beasts are worth!
Facing Ward Jimmy’s approach, the three magical beasts kept retreating. With no other choice, Ward Jimmy had to once again borrow the spirit of the high elves. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the energy around him had changed. The pure black of his eyes had been replaced by gold.
“Do not be afraid. I and this young girl have come to save you and your companions.”
The three magical beasts looked at each other, unsure whether to trust the human before them.
Although he carried with him a familiar scent that made them feel awe.
Ward Jimmy snapped his fingers, and the chains on all three magical beasts broke apart. He glanced at the bewildered beasts before him and said:
“My name is High Elf Tianyao. This body is named Ward Jimmy. If you wish to follow me, then do so. If not, go and hide in Taoshan. Do not let humans deceive you anymore.”
“Oh, no. You’re our savior, my lord. You could never imagine what that beast, Angelo Churchill, did to us,” said the Prison Dragon Fire . Its wounds had begun to heal.
“What that mortal has done to you doesn’t interest me at all. All I know is that if you follow me, one day you will surely encounter him.”
