Chapter 6

Stella's face showed some embarrassment, and she coughed lightly to try to get attention.

However, the jeweler kept chatting enthusiastically with Helen, completely leaving her behind, as if Helen were the main character at today's party.

Helen's gaze moved between Charlotte and Stella.

She had seen the situation just now crystal clear.

Charlotte had been targeted.

She directly pulled Charlotte to her side.

"Mr. Lee is a master appraiser in our jewelry world. They all say the necklace my daughter is wearing is fake. What do you think?"

Scott's expression turned serious. He fixed his eyes on Charlotte's neck and gasped in surprise.

"This is City of Blood and Tears! It's Master Chelsea's City of Blood and Tears!"

Stella panicked and immediately stepped forward: "The necklace around my neck is City of Blood and Tears. I don't know where Charlotte got this fake from?"

"You keep saying Charlotte's is fake - shouldn't you show some proof first?"

Scott frowned at her, not giving her any face. "Clearly yours is the fake. How can you say Ms. Brown's is fake?"

At these words, not only was Stella stunned, but her group of friends behind her widened their eyes in shock.

"You must be mistaken, right? How could Stella be wearing a fake? She's the daughter of the Smith family!"

"So what? This lady is..." Scott was about to speak when he caught Helen's look and quickly coughed.

He said somewhat stiffly, "What Ms. Brown is wearing is Master Chelsea's authentic piece. To help people identify fakes, Master Chelsea puts an authentication code behind each main stone. You can check - whose necklace has a code behind the main stone?"

For a moment, Stella stood frozen in place, not daring to move.

Of course she knew her necklace was fake, but she absolutely refused to believe Charlotte's was real!

It was just a coincidence that she wore the same knockoff!

In front of everyone, she, as the daughter of the Smith family, should be more likely to wear the real thing than some poor girl from the countryside.

But she never dreamed that Scott wouldn't give her face and kept insisting that Charlotte's was authentic.

How could that be possible!

Stella's hands and feet went stiff for a moment, standing there not daring to move.

Charlotte glanced at her coldly, curled her lips in a light sneer, and was the first to remove her necklace, turning over the fist-sized gemstone.

The authentication code on the back appeared clearly before everyone.

Stella was even more shocked, her face drained of color.

This was actually authentic!

How could Charlotte, a poor girl whose family only had a farm and a few acres of land, possibly own real jewelry?

"Looks like hers is real - it has the authentication code. So Stella's must be fake, right?"

"The Smith family's daughter just came back and wore a fake to her own party? Can't her family afford to buy her jewelry?"

"They can afford it, but not the top stuff. She wanted to show off here, but Ms. Brown's happened to be real, so now she's embarrassed."

People around who weren't too familiar with the Smith family began whispering, taking pleasure in Stella's misfortune.

Stella instantly became the laughingstock.

She was both angry and anxious, but had no way to deal with it, and could only glare at Charlotte.

Tina Taylor from the friend group saw this and immediately stepped forward, pulling Stella behind her.

She immediately questioned Charlotte: "Where did your family get the money to buy a real necklace? Did you switch it with Stella's?"

Charlotte frowned slightly and asked back: "Do you have proof?"

Tina was stunned: "I don't have proof, but I..."

Before she could finish, Charlotte raised her hand and slapped her across the face.

Caught off guard by the slap, Tina turned her head, looking at her in disbelief.

"You actually hit me?"

Everyone was stunned.

"Accusing me without knowing the facts - of course you deserve to be hit!" Charlotte sneered, shaking out her wrist.

Suddenly, the sound of brakes screeched.

People turned their heads casually, and the crowd instantly erupted.

"It's the head of the Davis family - Richard is here!"

Charlotte was stunned.

"It's Richard! Stella actually got Richard to come!"

"He's the most mysterious member of the Davis family. He usually keeps to himself, never gives anyone a good look, and stays away from women. If he's giving Stella face, he must be interested in her!"

"Stella really has pull - this is the true power of the Smith family's daughter!"

Praised by her friends, Stella immediately lost her earlier embarrassment, broke into a bright smile, lifted her skirt, and ran over like a delicate bird.

"Mr. Davis."

Her voice was sweet, without the aggressive tone she'd used against Charlotte.

"Thank you so much for coming to my party."

Richard's gaze fell on her face. In just a moment, he noticed the completely different aura.

Not her. Not the woman who had barged in that night.

He narrowed his eyes, then looked away, ignoring Stella's greeting.

Publicly snubbed, Stella was so embarrassed she could barely maintain her smile.

Charlotte found it ridiculous and snorted coldly.

Having been slapped, Tina was already furious. Catching Charlotte's amused look, she finally found an opportunity.

She said coldly: "What are you looking at? A man like Richard is worlds apart from you! When you were the Smith family's fake daughter, being able to climb up to an engagement with the Wilson family was already the Smith family doing their best to elevate you. Now with your background, no man would want you even if you were free!"

Stella turned around and hearing this, almost laughed out loud.

But she immediately put on an anxious expression and tugged at Tina's arm.

"Tina, don't talk about Charlotte like that. She's also a daughter of the Smith family..."

"What Smith family daughter?"

Tina interrupted with a scoff. "She's just a poor girl raised in some backwater place. Look at her family - where do they have anything valuable? How could she be worthy of Charles? Just one set of jewelry, and who knows where she got it from!"

"You can't say that..." Stella trailed off, sighing helplessly, as if unable to stop Tina.

Seeing Charlotte bullied to this extent, Helen couldn't take it anymore.

She took a big step forward and pulled Richard right in front of Charlotte.

"Who says my daughter isn't worthy of the Wilson family? Let me tell you, it's Charles who isn't good enough for my daughter!"

She announced loudly, "See this? The heir of the Davis family, Richard - this is my future son-in-law! This is the kind of man who's worthy of my daughter!"

At these words, the entire venue fell silent.

Charlotte's mouth twitched, looking at Helen in disbelief.

Helen's confident manner made it seem like they were already family.

She instinctively looked toward Richard, just in time to meet his deep, dark gaze.
