Chapter 17

At this point, William Evans's mind began to become actively engaged.

Since Alan Yager isn't around, I'll sneak back to Nightshade Bar and put on a proper show of arrogance.

This move might even help win back public support, effectively undermining Alan Yager's influence as the sudden appointee who had taken over leadership.

By then, it'll still be up to you to decide what happens at the Night Color Bar.

With that thought, William Evans stopped talking. He then said something to the bald man on the other end of the phone.

Wait...

After hanging up the phone, the bald man looked at Ron Potter with a faint smile.

Your brother Meng is about to arrive. I hope he doesn't end up being disappointed or let down!

Since the bald man was using the phone's speaker volume, Ron Porter was starting to feel uneasy.

This bald guy seems to have a good relationship with William Evans; he's just putting on an act—shouldn' t cause any trouble.

I may have thought that way, but now I can clearly see the slight admiration in the eyes of my former classmates.

Ron Porter knew he couldn't just give up; he had to push through with determination.

What if the plot takes a dramatic turn and William Evans ends up teaching the bald man a lesson? Wouldn't that be a perfect happy ending for everyone?

And so, with a glimmer of hope, Ron Porter waited for a full ten minutes. Then, at the entrance of the bar, he heard someone shout, "Meng Ge's here!"

Soon after, William Evans, radiating confidence and authority, walked confidently toward the bald man.

"What's wrong, Brother Qiang? On this pedestrian street, who would dare to insult your dignity?"

The bald man's real name is Hermione Austin, though he doesn't belong to any of Seattle's major factions.

Yet he was notorious for being a troublemaker on this pedestrian street—brave, aggressive, utterly shameless, and truly a man who never hesitated to cause harm.

For a time, the major factions on the street were at a loss as to how to deal with him.

At that moment, Hermione Austin listened to William Evans' sharp criticisms. She raised her arm and pointed at Ron Potter.

It's him—he's asking Brother Meng to come and deal with me.

Following the direction indicated by Baldy Hermione Austin's finger, William Evans turned his attention to Ron Potter.

After careful consideration, I realized I didn't know such a good person. So I raised my head and spat the cigarette into his face.

"Who the hell are you? Do I even know you?"

In fact, the moment William Evans stepped into Night Bar, Ron Potter's heart had already plunged to its lowest point.

On the spot, William Evans was so terrified that his entire body trembled as he spoke in a quivering voice.

"Meng... Brother Meng, I used to come to the Night Color Bar quite often!"

To William Evans, Ron Porter's words sounded like something coming from a complete idiot.

You damn well came to my place to hang out, so I've got to take care of you. With so many people coming and going at the Night Bar every day, I've got to watch over them all – it's absolutely exhausting.

With that, William Evans turned around and was about to sit down at Hermione Austin's seat.

"Brother Qiang, feel free to have fun as much as you like today at this event. I'll keep things under control for you!"

William Evans delivered those words with tremendous conviction.

Before William Evans could even sit down on the sofa by the seat, a sinister voice pierced through the crowd and reached his ears with unmistakable clarity.

William Evans, you really know how to act convincingly.

"It seems you've healed the wound and forgotten about the pain?"

Well, judging by that tone, he's just another person trying to show off again!

Gael Lanley's old classmates in the dance hall were utterly baffled. It turned out that Alan Yager, just like Ron Porter, was a complete idiot.

Even after all those failed attempts to show off, people still keep coming one after another. Chances are high that we'll end up making another fool of ourselves soon.

Ron Porter watched as Alan Yager suddenly jumped out, seemingly without a second thought, and quickly shifted the blame eastward to minimize his own risk of getting beaten up later.

"Brother Meng, I don't know that kid at all. If you want to beat him up, just kill him!"

Before Ron Porter could even finish speaking, he felt a massive hand—like that of a bodhisattva—land on his face.

Then, with a loud "clap," a wave of applause erupted right beside my ear.

"Are you actually trying to kill yourself? How can you even talk to Mr.Thomas?"

As soon as Alan Yager's name was announced, William Evans jumped up in shock from his sofa.

As for this big shot who casually acquired the Night Color Bar, how could I even dare to beat him?

Fortunately, he had previously requested Alan Yager's profile from He Yun and knew his appearance; otherwise, he would have met with serious trouble—after all, he couldn't stand up to the Shengru Group.

William Evans slapped Ron Potter, then—for the first time ever—给了 Hermione Austin a hard slap in the face.

You idiot! How dare you cause trouble at Mr.Thomas's place!

Let me tell you, Mr.Thomas would even dare to attack members of the Winston family! You're just asking for death—stop trying to provoke me!

The bald man Hermione Austin never expected that after William Evans gave Ron Potter a hard slap, he would even dare to slap her in return.

The first thing that comes to mind right now is: "William Evans, are you planning a rebellion?"

Before I could even finish speaking, it suddenly occurred to me what William Evans had just said: "Everyone in the Winston family dares to fight."

This time, Hermione Austin remembered a rumor that had been circulating widely along the pedestrian street since yesterday afternoon.

The incident where Andre Winston, the young master of the Winston family, was assaulted on a pedestrian street has become widely discussed. Given that Andre Winston was undoubtedly accompanied by powerful bodyguards, one can only imagine the extent of Alan Yager's formidable capabilities.

Hermione Austin never imagined that the mastermind behind this incident was none other than Alan Yager—the very man who had just spoken up for the bar's female singer.

In the look of his eyes as he elected him, there was nothing but fear.

While I'm certainly a skilled fighter myself, there's a world of difference between me and André Winston.

Moreover, the person I just encountered was none other than Alan Yager—the very man who brutally assaulted Andre Winston of the Winston family.

Yet throughout the entire event, Alan Yager never once saw Hermione Austin—her whole body trembling violently like Sekon's.

Instead, he stared at William Evans with a half-smiling expression.

William Evans, you can do it! Do you know that the person you just drew is a classmate of Gale Lanley?

"The... young lady has also come?"

Upon hearing Alan Yager's words, William Evans found himself struggling to speak clearly.

Facing Gael Lanley and her vast Lanley family, standing before Alan Yager, William Evans felt as though he were the birthday celebrant who had drunk poison and grown utterly weary.

Then he noticed Gail Lanley standing by coldly observing the situation, let out a cold snort, and moved to stand beside Alan Yeger.

William Evans's psychological defenses finally collapsed.

His legs trembled slightly before he knelt down before Alan Yeger and Gail Lanley with a loud thud.

"Miss, I was wrong! Please forgive me this time."

Mr.Thomas, please forgive my shortcomings and treat me as nothing but a mere nobody!

At that very moment, one could see William Evans kneeling before Gale Lanley at times and bowing deeply before Alan Yager at others.

Ron Porter and all his old classmates were completely disheveled.

They never imagined that Gail Lanley was hiding so deeply.

I originally thought she was just a servant girl from a poor family. To my surprise, she turned out to be the daughter of the Lanley family—one of Seattle's three prominent families.

To my complete surprise, I had always thought Alan Yager was just a mediocre player—yet he turned out to be a truly elite figure in the gaming community.

Even in the bar, everyone—men and women alike—knew this clearly.
