Chapter 6 Chapter 6.
I stretched myself awake, my eyes still asking me to sleep more. I turned to get out of bed and jolted when I came face to face with him. "Oh goodness, you startled me."
"Don't ghosts rest?" I hissed at him.
"I told you I'm not a ghost. Ghost means dead and I'm not," he replied.
"You both don't have a body," I stated factually.
"I do," he defended. "It's just wrongfully locked up."
Wrongfully. That made me chuckle.
He shut me a glare and I rolled my eyes.
"When will you get to work?" He asked.
I blinked at him. "I'm unemployed."
"Well asides handling Aria's tantrums," I added, climbing out of bed.
"When will you get to work on what we discussed last night?" He asked, more specifically this time.
I paused, recalling what he had told me last night after Argar left.
"The scar you find ugly is my mark on you," he had said.
I scoffed in response. "I'm a Pure One, why would I have a Demon's mark on me?"
He scoffed in return. "Pure One indeed."
"Whatever you believe in is none of my business, all I care about is that you belong to me and you'll help me achieve my aim whether you want it or not," he said.
"And that aim is?" I asked.
"My body remains imprisoned beneath your clan's seal. This form is nothing more than my consciousness. Break the seal... and I reclaim what is mine."
I had scoffed and given him my final response. "No."
"Allyssa," his voice sounded me out from my memory.
"My response is still the same as last night's. I will not partner with the realm's fatal enemy in any way or assist him in any thing."
"Please leave and never show yourself to me again," I said.
He looked at me for a long moment then spoke. "You think you have a choice." His voice was calm. "Fate has never asked your permission."
And just like that he vanished without any further words.
His words lingered in my mind for a few seconds before I pushed them down and went about my day.
Arriving in the dinning room for breakfast, the King and Queen were seated already, along with Evander and Aria. Argar hadn't arrived yet, I hope he's still not in pains.
I walked to the table and bowed to the King and Queen, bowed once to Evander as the Crown Prince, and then settled myself at the table.
The servants stepped forward and put the food in my plate while I thanked them quietly.
"How do you feel now, child?" Queen Ana asked. "Rested?"
"I'm alright, Your Majesty," I answered and Aria scoffed.
I lowered my head and dug into my meal when suddenly an eunuch announced the royal physician's arrival.
"Royal Physician?" The Queen was confused. "Who called him?"
It was probably for Argar. He's definitely still in pains. Curse you, Vaelric!
"I barely touched him." I heard Vaelric's voice beside me and I nearly choked on my tea.
Aria frowned. "What is it now?"
"N-Nothing." I replied.
I looked beside me to find him looking at me with a poker look. It took almost everything in me to not say a word to him before I get seen as someone who's lost her mind.
"I called the royal physician by the way, since everyone is wondering," Aria revealed.
"You called him?" The Queen was shocked. "Dear, are you ill?" She asked, worriedly.
"We'll find out soon," she replied to the Queen. "Send him in," she ordered the Eunuch who bowed and left.
The royal physician entered moments later with his box and gave a respectful bow.
"You sent for me, Princess," the physician stated.
"Yes, your patient is right there." Aria pointed at me.
My eyes widened immediately. "There's nothing wrong with me," I defended. "I'm not ill in anyway."
"Then how do you explain last night's actions?" She shot.
I lowered my eyes, my fists clenched tightly under the table.
"Aria!" Queen Ana scolded.
"Mother, let's be realistic here. She needs help." Aria shot back.
"Aria, that's enough," Evander spoke this time. "Yesterday was just—"
"A coincidence?" Aria cut him off.
"This kid is worrisome," Vaelric spoke beside me. "Would you like me to snap her head off?"
My gaze snapped at him immediately. "Don't you dare."
"What?" Aria looked at me.
"I-I wasn't talking to you," I replied and slowly everyone turned to me.
The Queen spoke this time, "Allyssa, dear?"
"Garjon, please check her," The King commanded, his eyes still on me.
"Yes, Your Majesty," the royal physician answered, stepping towards me.
I shook my head vigorously. "No. I swear I am sane. I'm not mad."
"Allyssa, just let the physician check you, okay?" The Queen tried to persuade me.
"I am not mad, Your Majesty. I haven't lost my mind. I swear by the heavens."
"Even mad people swear by the heavens," Aria mocked. And suddenly she lurched forward, her face dropping into the bowl of soup in front of her.
"Oh my goodness,"Queen Ana gasped.
I turned beside me to find Vaelric looking at Aria. His gaze was completely innocent but I definitely knew who was behind what just happened.
In annoyance, I stomped on his foot and he hissed, shooting me a glare.
I glared in return then looked away.
Aria groaned in anger as she raised her soup streaked face, her make-up ruined.
Vaelric scoffed beside me. "She looks prettier now."
I shot him a glare.
"Allyssa, do you mind to tell us why you keep glaring at the empty seat beside you?" Evander spoke.
I forced out a laugh but it turned awkward.
Annoyed, Aria pulled up a napkin and wiped her face angrily. Irritated, she left the table with her handmaid.
I turned to King Orion. "Your Majesty, I am really alright. I do no need the royal physician," I stated.
"However, there might be someone who needs the royal physician's help. Prince Argar, he's not at the table. I fear that he might have fallen ill or something," I added.
"Garjon, please visit Prince Argar and see if he's fine," the King redirected immediately.
With a response of compliance, the royal physician left the dinning room and I could only sigh in relief.
The King rose from the table, "after breakfast, go to the God Of War, Allyssa. Your tricks from last night has earned you an audience with the god," he said, turning away from the table. "I hope you're prepared," he added before leaving.
