Chapter 2 Trying to Make Trouble Again to Attract Mr. Hart’s Attention?

Violet returned to the villa and packed some personal items.

She dragged her suitcase downstairs and ran into the maid Martha.

"Mrs. Hart, it's so late."

"Are you going on a business trip?"

Violet didn't want to say much and just nodded lightly.

In the dark night, the car drove away from the villa.

Violet looked at the villa fading in the rearview mirror, and her heart grew calmer.

When she loved, she was passionate and bold.

When she let go, she was decisive and carefree.

Violet moved into a private apartment she owned.

Six years ago, she graduated from college.

As an outstanding graduate from a top school, she had countless chances to pursue further studies.

But Violet turned down all the offers and joined Hart Group without hesitation, becoming Adrian's secretary.

Her parents felt sorry for her but couldn't talk her out of it.

To cut down her commute time, her dad bought her an apartment in a prime downtown spot.

After marriage, Violet moved to the Hart family villa, and the apartment sat empty.

After six years away, Violet returned to the small apartment, feeling a mix of emotions.

Everything had changed.

Meanwhile, Adrian and Theodore got home at 10:30 p.m.

The house was empty, no sign of Violet.

Theodore grabbed the toy Auntie Quinn bought him and ran to the living room to play.

On the coffee table sat a file folder Roman had sent an hour ago—it held the divorce papers.

Theodore, busy with his toy, tossed the folder under the coffee table.

"Where's Violet?"

Adrian ran into Martha as he walked in and asked casually.

"Sir, she's on a business trip," Martha said.

Adrian looked indifferent and just said "Mm."

He didn't ask more, like Violet was just some nobody.

That night, Violet drafted her resignation letter and sent it to HR.

At midnight, her phone got a push notification: [VelocityTech Breaks Through Again! AI Smart Tech Hits New Heights!]

Violet checked the article and spotted Sebastian front and center.

Her senior from school.

At graduation, Sebastian was amazed by Violet's natural talent and offered her a job seven times.

Violet was obsessed with love, chasing Adrian until she lost herself and her life fell apart.

Sebastian, on the other hand, climbed the ladder step by step and pushed VelocityTech onto the world stage single-handedly.

Seeing the fast progress in tech, Violet felt a fire ignite inside her.

What if she'd taken her senior's offer back then...

She didn't dwell on it and closed the article.

Her phone wallpaper was a photo of Adrian and Theodore together.

Adrian was cold and distant, hated Violet so much they didn't even have a proper family photo.

He wouldn't stand next to her in one.

Violet stared at the wallpaper, her eyes empty.

Her fingers trembled a bit as she reset the phone to factory settings.

Then she opened the photos and flipped through her family album.

Violet looked numb but determined, and hit delete.

She even deleted the photo from ten years ago of Adrian in his high school uniform that she'd snuck.

She wiped it all clean, tossed the phone aside, and fell asleep satisfied.

The next morning, Theodore woke up, noticed Violet wasn't home, and started looking for Mom.

He was used to Mom helping him wash up and get dressed in the morning.

Adrian reminded him Violet was on a business trip.

Theodore got grumpy and started fussing.

"Mom didn't call me," he said, a bit sad.

She always called morning, noon, and night on trips.

Theodore hated her nagging calls that went on forever.

But now that she wasn't calling, he wasn't happy.

After being sad for a minute, Adrian said he'd take him to Auntie Quinn's.

Theodore cheered up right away and ate breakfast grinning.

Violet slept soundly all night.

When she woke up, she felt a brief emptiness.

Maybe she wasn't fully used to living alone yet.

She washed up, ate breakfast, changed clothes.

She headed to work on time.

Her resignation was submitted, but it needed approval, process, and handover.

Violet went to HR to drop off files. Before entering the office, she heard coworkers mocking her sharply.

Anna from HR was complaining, "Heard first thing this morning—Violet's throwing another quit fit."

Kelly sneered, "Everyone knows Violet's Mr. Hart's lapdog. She's just making noise; she'll beg to come back crying in a couple days."

Anna was annoyed, "I hate her two-faced act, pulling all those little tricks every day. So gross."

"Yeah, Reed Corporation's daughter comes to be Mr. Hart's secretary—what's her game? Anyone can see."

"Good thing Mr. Hart's sharp and sees through that two-faced one."

Violet's eyes went cold. She gripped the door handle tight, veins popping on her hand.

She pushed the door open.

Her high heels clicked on the floor.

Anna and Kelly shut up when they saw Violet, but their eyes were full of scorn.

Everyone knew Violet groveled at work to please Theodore—even the security guards downstairs gave her attitude.

Violet put the files in the right spot, then walked over to Anna and Kelly.

"Process my resignation per procedure."

"Find someone to replace me soon. I don't have much time to wait."

She turned and left coldly.

Anna let out a sarcastic "Oh!"

Violet paused, turned back to Anna. "Company rules say malicious gossip during work hours that disrupts order means no year-end bonus."

Her cool eyes swept to Kelly. "I'll report what you two just did to management."

Anna's face changed, angry. "Violet, who's gossiping? Got proof?"

Kelly showed her ugly side. "No one's here but us. You're framing us—get ready to lose your bonus!"

Violet pulled out her phone and played the recording.

Instantly, their voices came out of the phone.

Anna and Kelly looked shocked, faces turning pale.

Violet stood tall, chin up. "Your slander has seriously hurt my reputation. I reserve the right to sue you both."

She dropped that and strode out of the office.

Anna and Kelly stared at each other, sensing Violet had changed—not her usual timid self.

But then Anna snorted. "That little bitch is probably stirring drama to get Mr. Hart's attention again."

Kelly nodded hard. "Yeah, yeah. A loser like her—what can she do?"
