Chapter 3 Did Adrian Bully You Again?

Violet's resignation application was never passed on to Adrian.

Adrian had always been "strictly business" when it came to Violet.

Roman had been by Adrian's side for ten years and knew that Mr. Hart couldn't stand Violet.

Violet was quite dramatic.

To get Mr. Hart's attention, she had pulled the resignation stunt before.

Roman remembered the last time Violet threatened to quit, he had submitted the resignation application to Adrian.

Adrian's face turned cold, and he said indifferently, "Let her."

Roman meekly replied, "Then I'll follow the standard procedure."

Adrian frowned and said coolly, "Don't bring me these applications anymore. I don't have time to deal with such trivial matters."

Roman said, "Okay, Mr. Hart."

With that lesson learned, Roman figured this resignation application from Violet was just another one of her tricks.

HR called Roman to confirm Violet's resignation application.

Roman sneered, "Just process it according to company procedure. Who knows what scheme she's cooking up this time?"

"Mr. Hart is completely disgusted by her, yet she can still shamelessly cling to him. Her face is thicker than cowhide."

"I guarantee you, within a day, she'll apply to withdraw her resignation and come crawling back like a dog, wagging her tail at Mr. Hart."

Just as Roman hung up, he saw Violet push the door open and walk in.

"Violet, take this file to the PR department." Roman handed over the document.

"There's also a report that needs to be finished. It's needed for tomorrow morning's meeting, so get it done tonight."

Violet looked down at the watch on her wrist.

6:01 PM.

"Roman, it's already past my working hours, and I've finished my work for today."

"Deliver the file yourself and do the report yourself."

"Our relationship hasn't reached the point where I need to work overtime for you unconditionally."

With that, Violet grabbed her bag, and in her high heels, strode out of the office.

After deciding to resign, Violet refused all manipulation.

In the past, she had been humble and weak, willing to please everyone unconditionally for Adrian's sake.

Now, having kicked Adrian to the curb, she no longer needed to please anyone!

Back home, Violet found Sebastian's contact in her phone.

She sent a WhatsApp greeting.

〖Sebastian, long time no see. How have you been?〗

Soon, Sebastian called her directly on WhatsApp.

She answered.

Sebastian asked with a smile, "Junior, how are things? Any plans to get back into tech?"

"Let me tell you, AI development is a breakthrough in the tech field with huge potential. In the future, it's definitely going to lead the way."

"It was such a shame back then. You were already at the top level in AI development, yet you gave it all up for some guy."

Sebastian's tone was full of regret and disappointment.

He and Violet had studied under the same mentor and had worked together on AI programming for smart technology.

Sebastian knew Violet's capabilities better than anyone.

"Sebastian, I'm not giving up."

"I've recently developed a new program on my own. I'll send it to you to see if it meets your standards."

"Sebastian, I want to invest in your VelocityTech."

Sebastian was shocked. "Junior, are you serious? Today's not April Fool's Day—don't mess with me."

Back when Violet graduated, Sebastian had enthusiastically invited her to join VelocityTech.

Who knew she'd have such a one-track mind about romance and choose to secretly marry Adrian and have his child instead.

Violet said, "Yes."

"What's going on? Did Adrian bully you again?" Sebastian asked with concern.

"No." Violet's expression was calm. She didn't want to bring up Adrian and changed the subject. "I'll send you the new program after I test it. Once you receive it, you can decide whether to accept my investment."

Sebastian readily agreed.

After hanging up, Violet opened her computer and dove into testing the new program.

She made herself a cup of coffee and worked until the early morning hours.

Reminders kept popping up on her phone.

9:30 PM [Make milk for Theo]

10:00 PM [Read bedtime story to Theo]

10:30 PM [Prepare dessert for Adrian]

In the past, Violet's entire life had revolved around Adrian and Theodore, father and son.

In this grand one-sided love affair, Violet had lived without a sense of self or self-respect.

Violet opened her reminders and deleted all the ones she had set up years ago.

Adrian and Theodore had never needed her.

She was the one who had been desperately clinging to them all along.

The Hart Family Villa

In the early morning hours, Theodore woke up crying and refused to go back to sleep.

He suddenly missed his mom.

Adrian, who had been working late, heard the crying and came over to pick up Theodore and comfort him.

Theodore cried, "I want Mommy."

Even though he found it annoying when his mom kept nagging, deep down, he had a blood-related dependence on her.

Violet hadn't come home for several days now.

Hart Group had a big project going on recently, and the entire executive office was working overtime on the project proposal.

Adrian didn't know what Violet was busy with, but he assumed she was just working overtime too.

"Theo, be good. Mommy's been busy with work. She'll come back to be with you when she's done." Adrian patted Theodore's head, coaxing him gently.

Theodore cried even harder. "But I really want to sleep with Mommy."

His longing for his mother instantly peaked.

Adrian frowned slightly, Violet's beautiful face flashing through his mind. He felt a bit annoyed.

"Don't cry. Didn't you say you wanted to go to the hot springs? This weekend, Daddy will take you." He patiently coaxed his son.

Theodore got excited when he heard about the hot springs. "Really?"

Adrian: "Yes."

"Will Auntie Quinn come too?" Theodore asked, his face full of anticipation.

Meeting his son's expectant gaze, Adrian nodded slightly. "Yes, Auntie Quinn will come too."

Theodore cheered, "Great! Theo can play with Auntie Quinn again."

Thinking about being with Auntie Quinn, Theodore didn't miss his mom so much anymore.

Mommy was annoying anyway. Auntie Quinn was better—she would fulfill all his wishes.

Adrian: "Then Theo needs to sleep well."

Theodore: "Okay."

After getting Theodore to sleep, Adrian returned to his study.

He sat in his office chair, looking at the somewhat empty room.

Adrian remembered that every time he worked late, Violet would prepare desserts and snacks for him.

Even though he didn't eat them, she would keep preparing them.

He began to realize that the house seemed to be slowly losing traces of Violet.

With the annoying Violet gone, he felt somewhat uncomfortable inside.

Adrian raised his hand and rubbed his throbbing temples.

Violet was probably just working overtime on the big project.

Adrian stopped thinking about it and focused back on his computer, continuing to review the project proposal.
