Chapter 4 Adrian and I Are Getting Divorced.

The next day.

Theodore heard that Quinn had suddenly caught a cold and gotten sick, so he kept begging Adrian to go visit Auntie Quinn.

Even though Quinn was sick, she pushed herself to stay upbeat and played toys with Theodore for more than half an hour.

Adrian felt bad for Quinn being sick and didn't let Theodore stay too long.

When the father and son were leaving, Quinn held Theodore's hand and walked them to the door.

Theodore sat in the car, rolled down the window, leaned on it, and said goodbye to Quinn.

Quinn smiled and said goodbye to him.

In the car, Theodore held his phone and flipped through the photo album.

He had just taken lots of photos with Quinn.

The more Theodore looked, the happier he got. He looked up at Adrian, who was reading files nearby.

"Dad, can I come to Auntie Quinn's house often from now on?" Theodore asked eagerly.

Adrian turned his deep-set eyes to his son. "Theo likes Auntie Quinn?"

Theodore nodded like crazy. "Yeah, super like her. Auntie Quinn is the best in the universe."

Auntie Quinn was way better than Mom!

Mom was always so strict with him—no this, no that.

If Theodore messed up, Violet would lecture and punish him.

But Auntie Quinn was different. She accepted him no matter what and spoiled him.

Theodore hadn't seen Mom for several days and missed her a little.

But then he thought of Violet's strict face every time, and he didn't miss her anymore.

Theodore stared blankly at the photos on his phone.

He suddenly realized Mom hadn't called him in a long time.

Before, even if Violet was super busy, she'd call him morning and night.

Violet checked on every little thing about him.

Theodore had treated her calls like torture and always brushed her off.

Now that Mom wasn't calling, the kid wasn't happy about it.

Theodore looked down sadly and asked quietly, "Dad, is Mom that busy lately?"

Busy enough to have no time to call?

Adrian blamed Theodore's sadness on his attachment to his mom.

After all, Violet was his biological mother...

He patted his son's head and explained patiently, "The company's been busy with a big project."

Theodore didn't get what "project" meant, but right then Quinn sent a WhatsApp message asking what clothes to wear for their hot spring trip this weekend.

Quinn showed him lots of options and let him pick what he liked.

The second Theodore got Quinn's message, he lit up with joy and forgot all his bad mood.

Mom would call when she had time.

She'd gotten mad at him before for being naughty and ignored him, but in the end, she always came back to hang out and take care of him, right?

Theodore was sure Violet would never really dislike him, not ever.

Because she was Mom—she'd accept everything about him no matter what.

Meanwhile, Violet wasn't busy with Hart Group's big project.

She was handing over her work to her new secretary.

She clocked in and out on time every day.

In her spare time, Violet worked overtime to tweak her new program.

A week later, she finished the latest tests on the new program.

She organized all the files and sent them to Sebastian on schedule.

Sebastian replied right away. After seeing Violet's new program, he sent a collaboration offer immediately.

"Genius little junior sister, you free now? Let's meet and talk about working together!" Sebastian said excitedly.

Violet's eyes lit up with a smile. "Now?"

"Yeah, yeah, right now. I can't wait even a second. My secretary already drafted the contract. Other terms are up to you," Sebastian said.

Violet agreed and met him at a coffee shop near Hart Group.

At noon, Violet and Sebastian met at the coffee shop.

Sebastian had brought the contract.

He really wanted to work together.

"Violet, after all these years, it's still you—giving me a huge surprise so easily!" Sebastian slid the contract over to her. "Check it out. Tell me any terms you don't like, and I'll change them right here."

Sebastian had thought that after six years away from tech, Violet's skills might be outdated.

Nope. Six years ago, she was top-notch, and she still was.

A genius is always a genius.

Back in their lab days, Violet had been the best.

Too bad she hadn't stuck with tech back then— she'd be a big name in the industry now.

Even though Violet hadn't worked in tech lately, she'd never let up.

In her free time, she'd keep up with industry changes and improve herself.

She loved it too much to drop it completely.

Violet skimmed the contract fast, grabbed a pen without hesitating, and signed it neatly.

"Signed that quick? Not checking my terms?" Sebastian teased.

Violet smiled faintly. "I trust you."

After signing, she closed the contract and held out her hand to Sebastian. "Sebastian, here's to a great partnership."

Sebastian shook her hand, grinning. "Violet, on behalf of everyone at VelocityTech, we warmly welcome you."

He tucked the contract away. "I checked your new program. It's still a prototype, but super solid—no real bugs. Just do market tests, and it's ready for everyone."

His words were full of praise for her.

"When can you start?" Sebastian asked eagerly.

Just then, the waiter brought hot coffee.

Violet stirred her coffee gently. "I'm already resigning. Once I finish handover, I can start at VelocityTech."

"You sure about this?" Sebastian checked again.

Violet nodded. "Of course."

Sebastian let out a relieved breath. "I was worried you fought with Adrian and just wanted to mess around at my company on a whim."

He waved the contract proudly. "Violet, you signed it. If you back out, I'll show up at Hart Group and make a scene."

Violet laughed and took a sip of coffee. "Don't worry, I can't afford the penalty fee."

Sebastian could sense Violet had changed over the years.

He was one of the few who knew she and Adrian had a secret marriage.

He'd heard their relationship was so-so—Adrian was cold most days—but Violet had been crazy about him.

After a moment, Sebastian asked anyway, "How are things with you and Adrian?"

They must have had a huge fight, or she wouldn't quit.

Violet paused stirring her coffee, looked up, her eyes calm and at peace.

"Adrian and I are getting divorced."
