Chapter 2 Moans Over The Academy Broadcast

The bustling hallway was as noisy as ever. Winter break had ended and the new semester had started. Crowds gathered and chattered away without regard to other people.

“Zhavi!”

I shut my locker and turned around to look at my best friend Lyra, who called me.

“Zhavi?” She frowned, her steps slowed down after our eyes met.

“Hey! Sorry I couldn’t hang out back at the break. I was busy.” I walked over once she completely stopped.

“Clearly! Girl, I didn’t recognize you! What the heck?” She shrieked and grabbed both of my shoulders. “You look straight up gorgeous! Did you live at the salon or something?” Her loud voice caught a few students' attention, and they looked over at us.

“Lyra, lower your voice. And no, I didn’t. Why would I?” I removed her grip on me and tucked the loose lock of hair behind my ear.

“So you bloomed because you’ve been with Jamiel the whole break?” She had that smile whenever she teased me plastered on her face.

I smiled at her, remembering what happened two weeks ago. I slowly shook my head. Her expression shifted; the smile left her face.

“Did something happen?”

“Not here. Let’s go over the back.”

We walked to the old quadrangle behind the academy and sat at the large tree in the middle. I told her what happened, leaving out the deal I'd made with Jamiel's uncle.

There was a time for everything, but now was not it. I couldn’t risk telling her about my plan, not when Lyra’s the kind of person who couldn’t keep a secret for ten minutes.

“That jerk! Just because he became the ace last semester, he thinks he can do whatever he wants!” Lyra barked and punched the grass beside her.

“It’s fine. He’ll get his karma sooner.”

She turned to me; her eyes glinted with suspicion and speculation. “Are you planning something?”

“You’ll know.” I laughed and stood up. “Let’s go. Class is starting.”

I sat at the back, beside the window where the gym was in full view.

“Hey! Did you hear? Jamiel’s family will be sponsoring our hockey team!”

I glanced at my classmates sitting in front of me.

“Of course! He’s the star of our hockey team! He was the MVP at the last match against Westgate!”

“I heard someone from his family is coming later!”

The corners of my lips raised as I looked out of the window. Mr. Vaughn was moving fast. And I couldn’t afford to act slow and get left behind.

A group of girls went inside the classroom a few minutes before the class started, and the atmosphere instantly shifted. The boys stared at them with looks that said enough about their tight blouses and short skirts.

Someone whistled, and the girls looked like they were enjoying the attention. Too much.

“Hey, Zhavira! How was the winter break with Jamiel?” One of the girls caught me staring.

They walked towards me, swaying their hips with each step.

“Oh, don’t be like that! Jamiel didn’t spend time with her. He was busy taking over their family company!”

“Maybe that’s why she tried so hard to look the least bit decent?” They exploded in a fit of laughter.

“Jamiel needs to study how the company runs. Just like I do, we’ll be collaborating for a massive project soon. So, look forward to that.”

My eyebrow twitched, and a small scoff escaped my lips.

It was her. Angela Hawthorne. The girl moaning over Jamiel’s dick.

“Really? I’m looking forward to what you’ll be able to do for their company.” I let my smile widen and turned my attention in front, ignoring her piercing glare.

The professor came in just in time. “Alright, everyone. Take your seats.”

The first class felt too long even though it was just two hours. But I couldn’t help myself. My heart raced as I replayed my plans in my head.

I had another class, but what could one cut do? A warning? A detention? They couldn’t do that carelessly to a straight-A student like me. And it wasn't as if they'd be able to do much once the afternoon came, either.

I went to the broadcasting room. My phone felt heavy in my pocket. But my feet were light. I could feel the anticipation in my bones.

The broadcasting room was always empty during this hour. Classes were in full force, and no one was allowed to play any entertainment other than important announcements.

I slipped into the room and locked the door behind me. The clock on the wall told me that it was thirty minutes to eleven.

“He should be here by now,” I whispered to myself, digging my phone out of my pocket and connecting it to the broadcasting equipment.

“Students must be bored right now—probably slumping in their seats, waiting for lunch.” I increased the volume to the maximum. “This should wake them up.” My lips curled upwards as I spoke.

My heart raced. Nerves and anticipation both roared through me. I found a short clip on my phone, one that lasted less than ten seconds.

Cold wrapped around my finger as I hit play. First came static, then a thin, ear-splitting screech. Then…

“Jamiel! Harder!”

Angela’s moans filled every hall. Every classroom. And all corners of the academy.

The clip was a courtesy from Mr. Vaughn.

The smile wouldn’t leave my lips as I clenched my hand. I felt victorious. My heart thumped loudly in my ears from anxiety, but it couldn't mask the satisfaction of hitting repeat.

Guards and professors came fast. They flooded the broadcasting room, banging on the door until they finally unlocked it and scrambled to disconnect my phone.

Angela’s voice cut off just as she was moaning Jamiel’s name like it was her salvation.

“Ms. Russo! What in the world are you doing?!” One of the professors screamed as she grabbed my hand.

Coincidentally, she was my professor who had once been paid by a certain someone to sabotage my project presentation.

“I thought I’d play some music and wake everyone up. I didn’t expect it to work so well.”

Her nose flared, and her eyes widened so much I was afraid it would pop out of their sockets. “Go to the principal’s office. Now!”

I shrugged and let them drag me out. I did my part; now Calix Vaughn should do his.
