Chapter 2 Bidding

THIRD PERSON POV

As Lucien walked to another VIP table, he could feel the gaze of everyone and especially the whispers of the woman he was walking past. But it's not like he cares---he's tired of it.

"Hey," Another man in a black suit approaches Lucien, who is busy glaring at people. "Seriously, Lucien, it won't hurt if you just rest your face without glaring at everyone." The man added.

"This is my resting face," Lucien shortly replied.

"You're scary, but I bet those women are already going crazy about you even if you're sending them death glares. If glares could kill, you might have just massacred all the people in this yacht, " The man added and smirked.

"Remind me again why we're here Basil?" Lucien said, and Basil just shrugged his shoulders.

"Your father's order?" Basil Answered.

Lucien sighed. "I don't get why he is making a fuss over this," Lucien added and drank the alcohol in his glass. "Attending a whole fucking gala for a fucking dagger? That stupid old man is really losing it already," he added again.

"Relax, let's just bear with it for an hour, I already made the deal. We'll get the dagger, and after that, we can get our asses out of here. let's go somewhere with a lot of hot chicks instead." Basil said and grinned, and Lucien just shook his head.

Lucien was pissed that his father was sending him to this kind of useless place. He could easily oppose his father's order, but he knows that it is not just him who's going to suffer, even his people.

Lucien drained his drink. “He sends me here for a dagger… when I should be on the other side of the world dealing with real threats.”

The host’s voice rang through the room. "Hello, Good evening, Ladies and Gentleme,n to our Masquerade Gala. " The host said that it took everyone's attention. "Today we are all gathered here to witness the beauty of this magnificent collection and make sure these pieces will be placed in the hands of those people who will cherish them the way that the late Senor Valarti cherished them all his life. With his family's decision to auction them, we will begin the bidding shortly." The Host.

"They hate him that much, huh?" Lucien said, and Basil chuckled.

"I mean, that old man is nearly competing with your father when it comes to being evil. and ruthless." Basil said.

"Really?" Lucien said, and Basil nodded his head, "I would have sold his organ and displayed his head on a spike if I were them, too bad money can actually compensate them and they're against him." He added Basil Gulf after hearing Lucien's words.

"Would you do that to your father, Boss?" Basil asks, and Lucien turns his back before answering.

"No," He said, and Basil nodded his head. "I'll do worse than that."

LUCIEN just came out of the male restroom when someone bumped into him from behind that made him frown underneath his mask.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Sorry." The woman in a red fitted long silk dress that has a high slit on the legs, with a red mask apologizes as she walks away from him.

Lucien just ignores it and walks back inside the yacht auction area.

"The Dagger is up next," Basil said as he stood beside Lucien.

"And of course the next precious item that we have is one a Dagger, but not just any Dagger. This Dagger is called the Collector of Soul, a dagger with a 500 diamond in its handle band. I was told that this is one of the favorite collections of the late owner. I was told here that I was found buried inside a wo...woman's...chest." The host said and was clearly shocked by the history of the dagger, as was everyone inside the room.

Everyone turns silent as the host utters those words, not daring to make any sound, and Lucien couldn't help but smirk.

"Well, that was a...shocking...history," the host said. "The bidding will now start. Bidding starts at 300,000.00 dollars," the host said.\

"400," Lucien said as Basil raised their number.

"400,000.00 dollars, going once...going twice..." The host said. "SO---" The host cut off another person's voice.

"450, 000.00 dollars." A woman's voice said from the opposite side.

Lucien couldn't help but frown as he recognized the woman; it was the same woman who bumped into him earlier. What the hell is this woman's interest in that dagger? He asked himself.

MAELIS could feel everyone's eyes on her, but none of them are important to her. The only attention she wants to get right now is Lucien Allard's attention.

Her boss said that she could spend whatever amount she has to just to make sure that she will finish this mission, so she will do it. In her mind, this is somehow a form of revenge, she might not be able to bankrupt their organization, but at least she could make their head hurt with her spending.

"Wow," the host commented. "450.000.00dollars to the goddess in red," the host added.

"500,000.00 thousand dollars," Lucien said. Everyone gasped and reacted in shock.

'What's up with this dagger to spend that much?' Maelis asks inside her head.

"600.000.00 dollars," Maelis said and smiled.

Even from a distance, Maelis could feel Lucien staring. I couldn't describe it clearly. She could feel danger, coldness, and, for some reason, excitement?

"800, 000.00 dollars," Lucien said.

Maelis looks at him in disbelief, but as soon as his eyes meet his. It's like his eyes send a shiver down her whole system. It's like there is something inside of them that suddenly roared and made her feel uneasy.

"1, 000.000 .00 dollars," Maelis said as their eyes locked with each other.

It's like neither of them wants to break this connection, and somehow it makes Maelis mind go wild and crazy for some unknown reason for her.

LUCIEN couldn't fathom the annoyance and curiosity inside him as she stared at the woman who was currently going against him. It's like he could smell her scent again from across the room,m just like earlier when she bumps into him.

He kept on staring at her like he couldn't take his eyes off her, but in Maelis's head, if staring is equal to a stab of a dagger to someone, she probably died already.

"1 Million dollars," The host announced. "Going one...going twice....SOLD TO THE LADY IN RED," the host added, and everyone clapped.
